Art Gallery of New South Wales reviews
76 There are 2 buildings (South, North).
There is also an underground passage.
It's impossible to look at everything in one day.
I'm jealous of the people who live nearby.
Awesome gallery! Only visited the free part but this was really good. There’s classic arts there’s modern art. Really nice.
Beautiful spacious museum with stunning artworks. The building housing it all is an artwork in itself.
Pics & review refer to the Modern Gallery; spacious with interesting exhibits for all ages. A big mix of styles and media. Sometimes interactive.
The building is amazing
the paintings are amazing
the views are amazing.
Even the coffee house is amazing!
Come to the art museum to absorb spiritual food and supplement your understanding of this country's culture.
Exhibitions great.
Lounge great
Public transport options POOR.
New building disconnected from main building.
The venue is very large, free admission, it should be tourists who come here, you can see a lot of great works, feel very happy with peace of mind, highly recommended (you can choose whether to store large bags at the storage counter on 1F; the entire floor of 1F is exhibited, B1 has toilets, cafes and some exhibitions, B2 is a paid exhibition)

I loved the artwork. Truely magnificent. But the issue was the cafe. I got served raw lettuce. Disgraceful. I payed a total of $7 to have this sandwich and I got served raw lettuce. The amount of money I wasted on getting fed dog food. Clearly does not care about customers.
Surrounded by beautiful parklands, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is one of the country's most distinguished art museums. The building dates from 1885 and houses spacious, light-filled galleries and Grand Courts, with collections ranging from works by the European masters and Asian artists to evocative contemporary art from around the world. The gallery also houses one of the largest collections of aboriginal art in Australia. After admiring all the masterpieces, you can relax at the café or restaurant, or browse the gallery gift shop.
Has the best displays and great exhibitions. It is a great way to educate and also you can learn about australian art and colonisation. Has great guided tours. Transport include buses to Birchgrove and trains from Martin Place.
Love this place every time I go. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. The members lounge is also very comfortable for a coffee, to read or study.
Love visiting the gallery. My main interests are earlier Australian and European art so enjoy just browsing whatever is on display at the time.
Amazing place! I did not go online to see that they required reservations for weekends and holidays, but even without a reservation they were able to let us in. Price is decent.
I love the Archibald's, and I love the NSW Art Gallery, can you separate the two. The gallery is the best in the country, and that is hard for me to say because I have lived in Melbourne, twice, and I rate the NGV. But the NSW Art Gallery has that taste of history that the NGV does not. I love the setting and the exhibitions, the Archibald's being the premier.
Wonderful to see the Archibald Exhibition while visiting Sydney. Superb Gallery. Smiling Faces & assistance from very accommodating Staff. I suggest you buy your Tickets Online as the queues were lengthy.
The Archibald Exhibition was incredible.first time viewing.absolutely awesome.
Lunch after in the restaurant was also an amazing experience.beautifully presented and very very tasty.
Stunning day to see the Archibald prize. 100 years of this award, beautiful gallery, beautiful location, and exquisite blue day to be near the harbour.
Well worth a visit. Have spent many hours at many visits to this wonderful gallery. Lots to see but so much more not on display. Would love to see it expanded much further to allow viewing of more of the artworks.
We came here to see the Archibald, Sulman and Wynne prizes. Many great artworks and a fun day experience. Entry to the gallery is free of charge, with some exhibitions requiring a paid ticket. I recommend purchasing tickets to exhibitions online rather than lining up at the gallery.
