Art Gallery of New South Wales reviews
76Absolutely disappointment by the lack of infrastructure is for prams, the lift was broken and it was hard to find an indication on where to get another lift but the most disappointing thing is that the cafeteria below the restaurant will not warmup baby food, they said as a policy…this in unacceptable in 2021, it means that for this State Gallery culture is not for families!
Sharing details of my experience with the exhibition 'deal' at the Chiswick. Choice of main meal limited to two, of which the flathead was the worst I have ever eaten. It was more a 'deal' than a meal. Next time, I'll take my family yo the cafe. At least you can see what you're getting there.
Exhibitions great.
Lounge great
Public transport options POOR.
New building disconnected from main building.
I loved the artwork. Truely magnificent. But the issue was the cafe. I got served raw lettuce. Disgraceful. I payed a total of $7 to have this sandwich and I got served raw lettuce. The amount of money I wasted on getting fed dog food. Clearly does not care about customers.
Beautiful spacious museum with stunning artworks. The building housing it all is an artwork in itself.
Surrounded by beautiful parklands, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is one of the country's most distinguished art museums. The building dates from 1885 and houses spacious, light-filled galleries and Grand Courts, with collections ranging from works by the European masters and Asian artists to evocative contemporary art from around the world. The gallery also houses one of the largest collections of aboriginal art in Australia. After admiring all the masterpieces, you can relax at the café or restaurant, or browse the gallery gift shop.
Stunning day to see the Archibald prize. 100 years of this award, beautiful gallery, beautiful location, and exquisite blue day to be near the harbour.
Great to visit and special we could view the Archibald paintings today, Such a good day. Though they lost a star as we needed to wait 30 minutes for only 1 staff member to check 70 anxious attendees in!
Very nice place. Open and spacious. I had no idea how big it was. Definitely do not expect to see everything in a day. Very clean and friendly vibe.
Only one person serving for tickets to use NSW Vouchers made the waiting too long.
Always a magic day out going to the Gallery!
A Rare & Unusual Double Sided Sculpture of the Historical Buddha Shakyamuni on One Side & the Future Bodhishatya Maitreya on the Other from 2nd Century Kushan era, found at Gadhara, Afganistan can be checked here at Art Gallery of NSW, Australia.
Display at entrance very interesting and thought provoking. Favourite was the older paintings, especially those in 1400 to 1700s.
They have a really good permanent collection and is Free.
I do find their tickets for some of the other not permanent shows very expensive (specially because they are normally small). I will go more often if they had cheaper tickets
Went to see the Archibald exhibition
The staff were attentive and courteous the whole place spotlessly clean. The only thing to find fault with was the stupidity of so many entries. Art? No. Caricatures and splashes of paint. If it an art show why do they accept such rubbish. Perhaps it can be likened to the old tale of the emperor's clothes.
.
The Art Gallery of New South Wales is an opportunity for foreign and Australian people to know a little bit more about their culture and some other artist from around the world.
So many different exhibitions, free and paid, such a great range of art, sculptures, ceramics everything.
The cafe is also nice.
A wonderful place to take the kids for something different.
It has been expanded since I last visited several years ago. New exhibitions, more art works and restaurants. Some of the exhibits are very modern which I didn't like, but there is many genres so it should suit everyone's tastes.
Intetesting place to visit and do something different, if you enjoy arts and know about other cultures or history it gonna be a good opportunity for you, good atmosphere and kind staff
Saw the Masters and Impressionist exhibitions which were great. A few pics of my favorites. Only issue I have with gallery would be floor plan for those not familiar with the building.
Art wasnt too bad. I liked the building and its architecture too. Go and visit but dont wear a back pack.they dont like it in case you damage a pic which is fair enough.
