Kagawa Japanese Cuisine reviews
70 Kagawa has to be my favourite casual dining Japanese restaurant in Canberra.
The service is amazing, the food is tasty and the prices are reasonable.
Quality ingredients make for a quality dining experience.
Easy to find with plenty of room and a range of parking options nearby, Kagawa is great for lunch or dinner. I look forward to dining there every time I work in Dickson.
Always happy to take late bookings.
A wide menu that offers the classics and a few twists. The ramen was delicious and the nigiri stayed together on the drive home!
I'd encourage you to stop by if you're in the area.
This is great little Japanese restaurant! Very authentic. Reasonable prices and the food is delicious, especially the teppanyaki dishes.
Best Japanese cuisine in Canberra. (For everything BARR sushi handrolls.) and that's only cos I'm super fussy
Total rip off!
Forgot my order, and still tried to charge for it.
Calamari was like rubber.
Horrible way to ruin someone's evening.
*Update*
While the staff were nice, this time food took a long time to come out, and was ok rather than great. So maybe just a bit hit and miss?
Cozy Japanese. Food was great.
Staff nice.
The place is cozy, so on busy nights try booking.
Delicious food and well priced. Service was great as well. Without realising it was past their closing time. And they let us stay until we finished our food.
Addictive seared salmon nigiri! Such a hidden gem - always delicious, staff are lovely, can’t stop going back haha
We were able to dine at this restaurant without a booking, and we appreciated the BYO option. The food was enjoyable, but I couldn't rate it as high as some of the other Japanese restaurants I've been to. They were extremely busy with takeaway orders which, put some strain on the lady preparing the sushi and sashimi. Therefore out of all the dishes we ordered, the sashimi came out last, which was a little bit disappointing.
They probably dislike me for ordering their largest set of sushi each time but honestly it's really very good.
The fish is always really fresh and the variety is great. Comes with some pickled ginger and soy sauce, as well as some wasabi. I usually share it as a large meal between two, and I think it would be a great appetiser for a party of 4-6.
I sometimes order a set of tempura or the rare beef sashimi, which is amazingly delicious, only complaint would be I wish there were more of it.
They've always been really good to me, the set itself takes about an hour for them to make on busy nights so I appreciate them taking the time to do it.
I think the ownership of the restaurant has changed hands a few times but the sushi and nigiri has always been super solid and it is my go-to each time.
A disappointing experience, very upmarket prices for a sub-average quality meal and long wait time. They couldn't even get the texture of the rice correct, and that is the most fundamental requirement of any Asian restaurant. I'm not sure why this is so highly rated - whether it is because it is the only Japanese restaurant in the vicinity, there is substantially lower standards in the ACT, or that I had an unlucky pick. Also, this is far from authentic. You can tell from the wait-staff and chef conversations that they are not Japanese. Do not waste your time here.
Not a real Japanese restaurant. Run by Chinese international students, from chef to waitress.
Ramen is fake. Not soba noodle, instead uses instant noodle, broth is not ramen broth, just watery soup.
Food is BRILLIANT, and good value for money. Someone said the service was amazing but I think they must have meant amusing. Sweet, well-intentioned and quick, but linguistically challenged:)
At first it didn't look so promising.however I can guaranty that this was the BEST sushi in Canberra.my suggestions going g for Grilled Salmon Nigiri wow what a taste?
We were happily seated without a booking, but I recommend reserving a table! Food is consistently good after 10 years of dining here, although the decor is getting pretty tired. No fuss efficient service and the food is great, if not amazing.
It was my second time to order their Gyudon and it's very delicious! The dish is not common on most Japanese restaurant around Canberra. I have been coming back and forth here, and they never disappoint me with their food and service.
Kagawa is definitely up there as one of the best Japanese places I've been to in Canberra. The meal was on the higher end of reasonably priced, but the Katsu Don took me straight back to Tokyo. We also had the Sashimi Don, Takoyaki, Tsukemono and Tori-Karaage and it was all lovely, and super fresh. Definitely recommend!
Delicious food, reasonable prices, great service, nice atmosphere and serving sizes that weren’t too big. I was visiting from Victoria and will make sure to come back if I’m in Canberra again.
We came from Sydney for Easter and found this very little cozy Japanese restaurant. Great potions of food and friendly service. We ordered the Sashimi, beef tataki and some Rice dishes. Definitely will come back if we are in Canberra again!
Gave main before entries all food came at once friendly service delicious food but would have liked to take our time felt rushed
