Wills Domain reviews
66 My wife and I together with another couple had lunch at Wills Domain on Sunday September 20. We had eaten there many years before. When we were given the menus, I noticed that there were no prices next to each item so I asked the waiter and he said that we had to select 2 courses for $85 or 3 courses for $99. I asked could we order just a main course and he said we couldn't. All four of us decided on the same entree and main courses. The entree was a soft crab dish which was enjoyable. The main course we chose was the duck. When it arrived, we were all gobsmacked by what was on the plate. The duck consisted of a "sausage" of deboned duck together with a "pin -cushion" of carrot shards embedded in, for want of a better word, mayonnaise. My wife and I also ordered a dish of duck-fat potatoes for an extra $10! My wife's duck was dry as was mine. Our friends said that their duck was moist. The potatoes were enjoyable. We all felt that the duck sausage and the carrots as a main was not substantial enough; it should have come with the potatoes and greens which were both optional at $10 each.
I then looked at the wine list and nearly had a stroke. The cheapest red was $55 for a bottle or $16 a glass and this was one of their own wines! The bill for 2 courses each and the bottle of wine was $235, more than twice what we normally pay at a restaurant. The only positive point that I can make is that the service was excellent albeit a little over the top. Rob Broadfield recently gave it 18/20 and rated it the best restaurant in the South-west? My wife and I will definitely not be dining there ever again.
Great venue, great service, excellent food. Duck main was a standout as was the chocolate desert.
Visited Wills Domain last year. As a vegan I wasn’t sure what the menu would be like but honestly I think the vegan gnocchi was one of the best meals I’ve ever had! My friends loved what they had too and the wine was great. Spectacular views as well!
One of the best fine dining options in the region! We enjoyed great course with a nice view overlooking vineyards - would definitely recommend the terrace sheet if weather permits.
My favorite dishes were Martin mousse, Margaret River Waguri carpaccio and Mottainai Lamb. Precisely cooked and the presentation was cheerful too. The dessert was made with great complexity, which was beyond my expectation.
Last but not least, it was family friendly- there was a kids menu and coloring set were provided to kids. A playground next to the terrace allows parents some time to focus on the dishes!
Really nice day having the degustation menu with wine pairing. Fine dining in a casual environment. The view is magnificent and the seating takes full advantage of that. There's even an option to sit facing the kitchen if you want to see the magic happening. They have little colouring in kits for the little ones so that parents of young kids can still enjoy their experience even if they can't find a nanny.
Presentation of the food was just beautiful, everything was delicious too.
I emailed with my (extensive) list of dietary requirements and honestly Chef went above and beyond and pretty much made me a special menu so that I could eat with my partner. Everything was perfectly cooked too!
This place has changed its menu now. Not as great as it use to be. Very pricy not kid friendly anymore.
This experience was exceptional!
The service Excellent, the chefs Exciting, the setting Beautiful and was all worthy of a 5 star rating.
We were 6 who sat down for one of the most memorable and palatable experiences today.
Thankyou for showing the very best of what W. A.can offer.
One of the best meals we had on our trip. The gnocchi dish was exceptional as were the flavours in the skirt steak. Would recommend to everyone in the area, the views are lovely too.
I had a great time here a few years back. I went to the region to expose myself to some of the best white wines in Australia, and get my head around the light side of the force (having been a dedicated red drinker for many years). Two excellent wines were had here, especially the Chardonnay. I also enjoyed the sculptures.
One of the best meals we have had in a long time. Great views and great service. Our French overseas visitors were very impressed.
Great food and wine. Nice surroundings and beautiful vineyards. Great experience of wine testing and meal.
Beautiful setting. Good food. Tasty with nice combinations.
Only complaint was the size of portions for the kids. My 7 & 9 year-old thought it was a starter portion of gnocchi. Had to go for burgers after!
Rated as the best restaurant in Western Australia so I was really excited on trying it out. Well. Underwhelming entrées and mains but exceptional desserts. The skirt steak was really tender. I'll probably go back because of their desserts and the view.
Good service at 10am coffee and wine tasting. Very good for toddlers although cover over the play area would be good
Friendly staff, beautiful winery and a great location to enjoy and glass of wine and a mean. However, the meals are on the pricy side $$$ but worth it for a special occation.
Outstanding food.the feast menu was a great selection, plenty and well priced at $65/pax. Again!
Listed as dog friendly. Book weeks ago and get a phone call this morning to say we can’t go. We go every couple of months and my lovely dog sits under the table and sleeps whilst we eat and drink. Won’t be going here again.
Maybe check that children are still allowed when busy!
We visited Wills Domain with our 2 young children for lunch. The staff were amazing and very professional. We ordered the Gnocci and Steak and the kids had the Gnocci and fries off the kids menu. The food was fantastic, we couldn't fault it. The kids were very happy also emptying their plates. It was a wonderful stress free experience, the staff offered colouring books for the kids and there is also a large lawn area and playground. Perfect!
Excellent restaurant with great food and service and fabulous views over the vineyards to the ocean.
Wow! Memorable food experience! Had the chefs tasting selection and it was superb. Certainly worth the $65 a head. The heirloom tomato with black garlic and stracciatella cheese was amazing and the gnocchi was awesome. Beautiful setting overlooking vineyards. Great, attentive service!
