The Railway - Motel and Woodlands Guesthouse reviews
57 What a wonderful stay after a long day of crossing the border!
Therese was lovey, check in was breezy, and her recommendations were valuable as we managed to make it in time for dinner at the pub around the corner.
We stayed in a queen spa room (located upstairs) which to my husband was a luxury after the motels we had stayed at on the way from Melbourne The bed was comfortable, with nice fresh, crisp sheets… the bathroom was big, with a spa bath… Handy bar fridge to referees our ice packs for the next day of driving!
Breakfast was included, and available anytime the next morning, depending on when you choose to set off! Great selection of cereals, spread for toast, juices, teas and milks. The bonus was A COFFEE MACHINE with real beans.
Overall a comfortable stay, and a surprising treat after a long drive. We felt very welcomed, met some lovely travellers at breakfast, and felt a sense of community there.
Thank you!
Great time spent at The Railway!
It is pet friendly
Impressive first impression in the Art Deco style of the main room where reception and breakfast happens.
We slept in Motel part at the back of main building. Room would deserve a reno to offer full potential and it was way enough to have comfortable bed and AirCon.
Lovely brekkie in the main room with lots of choices including Nutella
There is no restaurant - dinner is recommended at the local pub
Love this old place, done up well and the owner manager is so lovely. That's why I've given this place full stars
Great spot to stop for a night or a few nights. I stayed in one of the outside self contained units. It was as promised. Nice outside courtyard, lovely host. Beautiful and unique main building reception area. I had to make a date change couple of times and the host was very helpful with that.
A loverly place to stay, unique and charming guesthouse style accomodation. Thankyou for being so welcoming. We will be back
Superb customer service. Therese met me at reception for a very late check in with a smile and patiently answered all my questions. Even spared the time for a yarn.
The help yourself all hours breakfast buffet was a lifesaver.
Everything was just… easy.
This is an historic hotel. Hosted by a friendly and thoughtful owner. The room was comfortable with ensuite. Tea making and fridge. Clean and comfortable.
We stayed in the budget room as this is all that was available, friendly staff, nice self serve continental breakfast included.
Room was very basic, clean but no powerpoint in the bathroom, window in bathroom needed repairing, mosquitos and smoke from fires came in to the room.
Worth the budget price we paid.
Short stroll to pub and supermarket!
We love it here. So relaxing. Heritage hotel. Clean and comfortable. Good price and amenities. Kind and help owner and staff. Pet friendly. Stroll to the local for a counter meal and cold beer.
Nice Old World art deco hotel, lovely owner, had a nice couple of days here after crossing the Nullarbor.
Would always stay here when in Norseman
Hi Therese, thank you so much for your hospitality. The room was warm and comfortable. Buster our little jack Russell felt right at home. There was a welcoming feeling throughout to whole place. We will be coming back again on our next travels. Stay safe, regards, pete and jorgie
Amazing! We arrived in Norseman late evening having done 900km of drive that day. We didn't have accommodation booked and incredibly lovely Mel who I spoke to was super understanding. Even though it was quite late, she waited for us in front of the motel and sorted out our room. Accommodation was excellent with breakfast included. We had a recently renovated room so everything was brand new. If you're staying in Norseman, this is the place.
We went their during covid 19.
Booked and paid over the phone. The lady was very cooperative and informative. The room and Ensuit was good.
A lovely experience, and a fantastic example of well maintained historical architecture. Thankyou so much!
Friendly concierge welcomed me and got me settled in with a mixture of easy banter and exchange of stories. Even though the social distancing has affected business I could immediately tell that this place normally has a very pleasant and social atmosphere.
I didn't need to stay long, so was just going to get a cheap room, but for a little extra I decided to stay in one which had recent bathroom renovations (because when people go to the effort of renovations, you might as well!). Was not disappointed, I've been to luxury hotels that didn't have such nicely modern bathrooms. Rating went from 3.5 to 4 due to that.
If I had visited during normal times, I'd probably be inclined to give this place a 4.5 at the very least.
Always love to stay here when travelling through to Perth and back. Old but clean, comfortable accommodation and great staff. Cheap to stay and continental breakfast in the morning. Stayed here 3 times so far.
Recently a friend and i stayed at the railway hotel woodlands guesthouse. We arrived exhausted after a very long drive and were immediately greeted by terese, the owner, who settled us into the place. We chatted with other guests in the grassed area. It was a beautiful night. Our rooms were very clean. It is basic honest accommodation with a lovely welcoming atmosphere.
Lovely big old place with lots of history, currently being restored & renovated by the lovely owner Therese and two funny gorgeous caretakers Mel and Julie. Couldn't ask for a more welcoming bunch
Also had few pet friendly huts so we were welcome with our furbaby. Basic but clean and that's all we needed bonus complimentary breaky help yourself on the morning
Stayed here on my way to Perth, the manager was very friendly and helpful. I was even offered breakfast which I though was such good value considering the price of my room.i would highly recommend this place to stay
Cannot speak highly enough about the hospitality. Therese (the owner) was kind enough to run us down to the airstrip and keep an eye one our vehicle after an unplanned stay due to fire. Thanks again!
