The Railway - Motel and Woodlands Guesthouse

A taste of old Australian charm - super friendly staff, comfortable room and a lobby area full of history - the building is still getting the love and attention she deserves. Great brekky bar if you need to leave early in the morning - heaps of parking if you have a trailer or caravan.

Stayed here 2 times. Clean rooms. Accomodate your pets. Very kind service and very accommodating. So grateful to be able to stay somewhere nice with 2 dogs. Highly recommend if you have pets. Lady that runs it is very informative and helpful.

The room was clean and well maintained, and we really loved the bathtub! Nice to have a soak after long days on the road. There are also plenty of amenities for your use - kitchen utensils, gas bbq pit, Breville coffee machine if you like making your own espresso + froth milk, lots of toppings for your toast. The staff is very friendly and happy to help.

This is a run down motel. The room was clean but there is mildew in the shower. The shower itself is little more than a trickle. Very, very basic accommodation. No power points near the beds available to charge your devices. Noisy fridge. Simple breakfast included. No wifi available in our room. The woman who runs it was pleasant.

Absolutely great place quiet and very comfortable loved the place highly recommend it

Great room, fantastic shower, nice and hot! Aircon was on when we arrived which was good. Nice simple self serve breakfast with a good coffee machine.

A great find in Norseman.charming and friendly accommodation. Our second stay here and chose to stay instead of continuing on to Esperance. Manager is lovely and continental breakfast was complimentary and excellent - a good coffee machine was a bonus. Old school ambiance and hospitiality - many thanks

We stayed there twice, on the way to Perth and on the way home. Both times we were greeted with a smile, all the staff are super friendly and accommodating. The owner is lovely, she offers a basic breakfast with a proper barista machine. We stayed in the cabin's, a cosy room with everything we needed including a comfortable bed for the night. Highly recommend

Glad we managed to get a room at a very short notice. Dog friendly and everything was clean, old but clean. Had a little breakfast bar in the morning to help ourselves, what a brilliant idea before we went on our road trip. Nice walk around the little town too. Thank you!

Stayed for 1 night in a pet friendly cabin. Cabin was on the smaller side compared to other places we've stayed. Mozzies will get in no matter how much you spray, hubby was eaten alive. A few pieces of crockery wouldn't go a miss. Very close to main high street but not much in Norseman anyway!

Such an awesome caretaker of the property. Light breakfast included. Price is competitive and will return for sure.

Friendly reception and very clean, though modest rooms, which were reasonably priced. Nice courtyard and generous free breakfast. Location good, near to the Norseman hotel.

This place was great. Was in the newly renovated room. Very comfortable. Only notable comment was bed moved around or rolled on floor as you sat on it. Needs lock on wheels. Mosquitoes got in from somewhere also. Complimentary breakfast that we could get ourselves. Quiet location. Only pic was yard where car parked under a tree

So I booked a room with a double/queen bed with an ensuite in advance of my trip.

I received a call from Janine on the day asking if it was possible to switch rooms, stupidly I agreed without asking the details as I would assume it would be a similar swap.

I was not informed that this room had no ensuite (there are no toilets or showers for communal use on the floor either) and was a twin single bedroom.

There is another door in the room that suggests it leads into an ensuite, I tried to slide the door open and it seemed to be stuck. I finally managed to open the sliding door but to my horror it was the room next door's toilet!? The reason why it was stuck, there was a lock on the other side.

I had traveled 10 hours and arrived late after the 1830 check in, Janine had texted me the code to get in and room number. When I looked at the room I called Janine straight away but she would not answer any of my calls or texts, I even called the emergency guest number to no avail.

In a nutshell I have not been able to have shower, clean myself after a really long drive or even have use of a toilet? ! The basics really? ! How does this happen in this day and age? ! I've never experienced anything quite like it before and I've travelled around a fair bit.

I will be taking this matter further. The room doesn not match what was advertised and I was not informed otherwise I would have refused to swap rooms. Absolutely shocking customer service.

Be warned it appears that Norseman is not blessed with any half decent accommodation.

Clean, secure, great atmosphere warm welcoming and a relaxed serve yourself simple breakfast offering an opportunity to chat with other travellers which was so exciting after being in the car crossing the Nullarbor for days.

We only stayed for one night, rooms were comfortable, location was central to everything in town.
