The Pier Hotel reviews
57 Not sure if it was a bad day or this is normal now, but the Pier is normally our GoTo when we visit Esperance from Kalgoorlie and we were always guaranteed a good meal.
But tonight it wasnt like it was before.
The chicken Schnitzel had hints of fish. Either they reused the oil from cooking a fish for the chicken or the oil wasnt changed. We asked for extra mushroom sauce, we didn't get any (we weren't charged for it but still). It was a pretty high price for just fried chicken breast and coleslaw. 34$.
The Rib share plate was just ridiculous. It was 42$ for not even a full rack of ribs and an odd Apple Coleslaw. It was a share for 2 people and not even a full rack of ribs.
There wasn't much of a difference between lamb and pork.
Kids burger wasn't that bad but, the patty, it was pretty thick almost the size of an IGA bread burger bun for 11$. Good price for a good burger just a little thick for a kids meal.
Drinks 4/5*
Service 4/5*
Food 2.5/5*
Decent experience but we missed last year's crew.
Great location popular venue it ticks most of the boxes, ice cold beer the food matches expectations. But it's long overdue a renovation it's poorly lit dated decor the are sub par at best. Still a popular venue but they need to put some effort into fixing up a dated old pub.
Good pub like food and beer. Cocktails were a let down and the service from staff was non-existent. I was hungry so will recommend this place if you're not too fussed about service. Very outdated decor that complimented the stale service. The food though was tasty and well cooked.
Single most worst place I’ve ever been, dummy the food is horrible, what kind of pub can’t even cook chips, service was bad and in polite would never recommend anyone going there
We had a great meal here, with shorefront views and a very reasonable price. The staff and owners are really friendly, cheery and helpful. The place is iconic with a long history. We loved it.
The food is fantastic here. If you can't eat all your meal, bring your own container, as they will charge you a $1.00 for there's. I was happy to pay for it, but others did complain about it.
Have been on the road so we thought a pub meal would be a nice change. Booking was essential & on entry could see why. Obviously very popular as the place was rocking. We where shown to our table & on ordering did not have to wait long for our dinner to arrive. The staff were helpful & friendly. I had the lamb rump, my friend the trout. Both very happy with our choice, absolutely delicious & the portions were extremely generous. Quality & quantity in excess.
Although really busy around 6.30 pm the service was very good and the food excellent. Recommend the lamb.
I ordered the 100 day old sirloin steak which was awful taste watery with no flavour whatsoever like it was in the freezer for 100 days! Also order the Guava cocktail which wasn't very nice either. My partner ordered the fish of the day which was very average. No salad dressing on either salads. Would not recommend this place.
Woodfired pizza was terrible topping was very little was mainly just capsicum and sauce with lime 5 pieces of chicken in chunks and was thrown on there with no care given.was told to spread the mint yoghurt with a knife over the pizza by the manger only had this pizza in May and was the best pizza not anymore!
This pub was busy every night I walked past and for good reason. Good pub grub with an awesome variety of drinks. Great for big groups, but if you want to guarantee a table, make sure you book in advance. Lovely staff and service too.
My husband ordered the porterhouse and wasn't disappointed. He's a butcher so very high standards. He said and I quote "This is the best steak I've had in a restaurant. They actually got it right! "
He asked for rare and got it! That never happens.
It's not cheap but the food was delicious! Would absolutely come back in a heartbeat!
Awesome place for a great feed and friendly people highly recommend coming for some great food and drinks
Quite possibly the best pub meals we've had! The beef cheek, seafood hotpot, fish and chips and the chicken ala tucker were honestly fantastic! Highly recommend!
We went to the Pier numerous times whilst in Esperance and always had a great experience. The place is always busy but great food and quick service.
Average experience, facilities and food were okay, but the customer service was absolutely horrible. Tried to place an order online but received and error, the site directed me to call their "friendly staff", upon calling, however, I was berated by the staff for not placing an order online before they hung up on me.
Local fish and chips were delicious, huge portion! Calzone was amazing, wood fire pizzas here! Busy pub / bar, would recommend a booking for dinner in peak season
Open pub with sport on the TV's. Reservations necessary. Food was fast and offered take away on the main menu.
Fantastic place staff so accommodating had no booking but they managed to fit us in, was my birthday they surprised me with a beautiful piece of tiramasu cake with candle. The food was amazing special thanks to Fonzy.
Great food, pricing is reasonable, customer service was good, although wait times did vary depending on order. Very good opening and closing times. Nice atmosphere. Booking is essential as it can get very busy very quick so book in advance or you will miss out. Plenty of parking if you arrive ealry.close to the beach. Has indoor and outdoor seating.
