Paruna Wildlife Sanctuary reviews
50Beautiful hike following the Numbat trail. Lots of steps and hills, and the trail is well maintained. Definitely recommend for the adventurous people. No or limited reception out there, so make sure to bring what you'll need.
What a stunning, ridiculously beautiful walk! Sunny hillsides full of flowers, steep climbs rewarded by fantastic views, wildlife all around, shady stretches through the lovely forest. I started the numbat trail early in the day (6: 30 AM), so got lovely light and a pleasant temperature for walking. But yes, be prepared for lots of steps
Amazingly beautiful place all to myself. Did the 12km Quanda walk - lots of stairs but plenty of pit stops available and totally worth it. Lots of bird life, including a flock of red-tailed black cockatoos.
This is what Australia used to look like. Everyone deserves to see and understand that. Congrats to AWC for its stewardship.
Will definitely go again.
I love this place, going at first light is stunning. Lots of fog and birds chirping. Saw at least 100 kangaroos. Purchase tickets online prior at home as there is no internet
It was a wonderful day for a hike so we decided to go there. We needed to book for access first to obtain a passcode and that's given for each day so we need to make sure that the booking access date is correct.
We did the longest trail which was the Numbat trail. It's 12km and we did it in around 4 hours including a short 10 min lunch break. There's a basic compositing toilet at the start of the trail.
The trail has lots of hilly sections but it is quite well marked and lots of good steps. There's a section that is ramped rather than steps as well. They were also doing some maintenance on the trail.
There are lots of different vistas including the Avon River and some views through the bushland and grass tree field. There are also a few creeks and a small waterfall.
Beautiful walk with great outlooks and lovely pristine bush. Lots of stairs, with places to stop and admire the view or have a picnic. Access is paid in advance online with pin code access.
Looks amazing but we were unable to get in due to fire ban and also you must book to get in when its not a fire ban as the whole area has a gate around it with barb wire
Amazing place to hike!
You need to buy entrance ticket online before hand which gives you a PIN number to access the gate.
Unfortunately the sanctuary was closed right now. The website was a little confusing on that but I got a really quick and nice reply when I asked them on insta about this. (Open from April - October 2023)
Hope we can go another time:)
Hiked the Quenda track over the weekend. Was a good hike, with steps and inclination, so a good workout. Not too much water, given the lack of rain, but the scenery is great and if you love walking/hiking definitely worth a visit. We didn't see any animals. About an hour's drive from Perth. The car park can be tricky to find.enter the "car park" in map. 10$ entry per person to get through the gates.
Stunning place absolutely loved it. Hey there early very popular and don't forget to buy your tickets!
Was a lovely hike! My current Fave after Eagle's View in John Forrest. Will definitely be back.
Great experince as i went for the first time on any trail its beautiful, calming, challenging and close to nature as well great experince choose medium trail for first timers. Make sure dont forget to grab enough water and food keep your backpack light and walking sticks is must thank you
Great walking trails. The car park was full when we arrived there. There is an overflow car park but only suited for 4WD.
Beautiful wildlife sanctuary and trail. Needs a booking online for $10, whereby they'll provide a code that's valid for the day to enter.
Did the Quenda trail, wouldn't recommend the numbat one unless your fitness level is above average. Watch your step on the way down as I nearly rolled my ankle on a stray rock!
Beautiful track with some nice wildlife if you're lucky. The track is very well maintained.
I took the Quenda walk.so much scenery and well maintained walkway.take plenty of water and plan a lunch break.
What a stunning part of the world. I usually hike over in Walyunga and this was just as good but with better paths. The trails have been maintained superbly. I ran/hiked the Quenda trail and will be back to do the Numbat. Get there early and don't forget to book online. The online booking system is very easy to use. Gorgeous
Very beautiful lookout and diverse nature.
We very dislike all the steps build, rather than leaving trails natural. You need to focus on the steps rather than looking around. It makes walking not easier
A very well maintained track with stunning views. It has a 10 dollar entry fee but in my opinion it's definitely worth way more. Has 3 hikes to choose from depending on difficulty. I did the Quenda Circuit, being an average hiker I found it comfortable. However I would recommend going during the rainy season.
