Ocean & Paddock reviews
74Fantastic food GF batter on the fish. The only place I have ever managed to get it outside of the UK. BYO and great staff and service. The squid is amazing and I had to ask about the best tomato sauce which we have ever had (my son has it on everything)! They make all the sauces themselves. Must get that recipe. Love this place and have been going there since it first opened.
WA's best fish and chips? More like WA's most disappointing.
The chips tasted like cardboard with about two grains of salt. You can taste that the chips came in frozen and must of been the cheapest on the market.
The fish tasted like it was frozen and defrosted more times than the Antarctic ice caps, it wasnt even fish just some form of greasy gooey mess with the batter not even cooked. It came out of me the same way it went in a few hours later.
If you enjoy throwing money down the drain then look no further!
If this is the best, then the others must be atrocious, or maybe people just settle for mediocrity. The chips, undercooked and stodgy, the salt and pepper squid, the worst I've ever had, not salty and not peppery, great if you like tastless rubber. The fried dim sim was exploded and nearly incinerated.
We had the family feast n boy is it big delicious n well worth the money n the young lady who served us was very cheerful
The fish n chips were tasty and not at all oily! Our eldest had a squid salad and the dressing was delicious. Definitely worth a try
The service was quite respectable. We ordered the family feast with upgraded fish to Nannygai and Queen Snapper. The Nannygai was cooked very well with a crisp batter. The Queen Snapper did not seem as fresh. We were expecting slightly larger fish portions but maybe this was because the rest of the feast was a bit of a let down with frozen chicken nuggets, dim sum, crab sticks and too many chips.
Charging for sauce seemed a bit odd.
In retrospect I would have ordered my fish grilled with mushy peas and a pineapple fritter on the side for a smaller but higher quality meal.
I think Cicerello's in Mandurah tops Ocean and Paddock.
I would try going again.
Polite and friendly staff, casual easy-going atmosphere but the main thing: incredible local fish. Delicious!
OH MY LORD! Never knew fish could taste this good. Wow, has to be the best fish and chips I have experienced. Blown away.
Delicious food! The eggplant wedges are worth trying! The cauliflower salad was excellent. Although it is a fish and chips restaurant, the vegetarian options are great!
I took my Aunt and Uncle from Tasmania to Ocean and Paddock and they agree it's the Best fish n chips in Australia
Trenton is such an amazing guy. The food, the fish, the burger.everything was top notch. Went there twice actually.
Just felt the difference straight away of the fish served in other restaurants compared to this. Amazingly fresh and beautiful, and great taste.
Had Squid and salad and cheesy pulled pork fries for lunch. Really tasty and the condements just topped it off.yummo.
Squid, coleslaw - to die for YUMO. Local smoked sardines and your in heaven. An absolute must do when in Albany
Fish and chips were average, squid was very good. Scallops were small, over priced and average. Spent $90 on lunch with the kids and when requesting some tomato sauce had to pay $2.50 each for 3 tiny tubs! Over priced and charging for some sauce for dining in patrons is poor customer service, hence the rating. Won’t go back.
Great food. Fisherman's basket, pulled pork and loaded fries, and fish and chips were delicious. Sauces on table were a bonus! Will visit again.
Fantastic menu choice. Generous servings & cooked to perfection. Definitely worth a visit. Gets very busy with limited indoor dining so worth to prebook if your dining in. Service & staff are fantastic & very helpful. Great for dine in or takeaway.
Fantastic menu selection, great venue for dine in or takeaway. Great service & fantastic staff. Definitely worth a visit. Big generous servings. Top value.
Every bite of the Nannygai was an exultation of the gustatory sense. Best fresh Nanny ever. Fresh from the cold waters of the Southern Ocean. Service was super, professional and attentive. The Ocean & Paddock deserves another star. Magnificus!
Very disappointing, fish tasted like lemon and was very dry, to be honest didn't taste like fish should, chips dry, squid like rubber, prawns like rubber. It all ended up in the bin. Was so looking forward to the #1 rated fish and chips of Albany. Utterly unimpressed.
We shared a 2 person seafood platter and upgraded ours to a Blue Groper. The fish itself was cooked well (2 pieces) and prawns (2 pieces) were nice. We thought the batter on fish could've been slightly crispier and chips were ok and on the tougher side (if you prefer this over softer chips). Overall, it was an ok Fish & Chips. Price wise it was $36-40 for a the platter + $2.50 for Tartare sauce.
