Mercure Perth reviews
70Not good reception staff. In the first room the toilet didn't work properly. In the second room you couldn't open the window (broken) and in the bathroom only 2 of 3 lights above the sink were on. Uncomfortable when shaving.
Room was clean. Bathroom was a bit old. Service was normal. Gym was basic. Pool was nice. Good location. 2 free drinks if you're an Accor Plus member.
Awesome experience
Rooms were big and spacious
Easy Location to be in the City
Only irk is the Shower wasn't really for tall people and the shower head wasn't great but otherwise an overall perfect hotel.
My stay last week was not completely terrible. The redeeming quality was my okay enough room - I managed to sleep fine and the shower was hot. However the Mercure Perth is just simply a hotel. No real character or vibe and nothing outstanding to note that really separates it from the rest. Noting this, I am leaving feedback so Mercure Perth know what they can improve on in order to make the guest experience more positive and hopefully make guests feel they wish to return to the property.
The service to start with was nearly non-existent. Every interaction I had felt transactional and in particular my check in. I arrived around 10pm after a long flight from Sydney for work and let me tell you - a smile and a polite hello goes a long way. I received neither from the lady at check in. Check in was rushed and felt like I was being read something off a script, and checking people in seemed to be more of a bother rather than attempting to do it effectively and properly welcoming the (paying) guest.
Throughout my stay, the few times I needed to ask a question or follow up on something, staff really didn’t seem to care and quite frankly didn’t seem like they wanted to be there, which is a shame. Don’t even try and call room service either (day or night). I tried several times and to no avail. I even called Reception one morning to see if they were able to transfer me over, however they were unable to as the room service phone was still engaged. When you called room service it would go straight to a dial-tone, like their phone had been left off the hook? Strange. Seems odd that the room service phone would be engaged for over an hour? Unfortunately that’s also lost profit there with those situations - as I went and made other arrangements for my meals.
The room itself was okay. Dated but spacious, and comfy enough bed. Although the hotel (rooms and lobby area etc) definitely needs a nice modern refresh. The lift dates are set to January 2000 which seems very fitting considering the decor. The breakfast buffet is $32 - blanket price, no continental option, only machine coffee on offer. For this price (and one so high) you would want to make sure that the buffet selection is always fully stocked, food is hot, fruit is fresh, drinkable coffee, and an overall good selection on offer. The buffet was lacking in all aforementioned areas and is definitely not worth $32 so I would advise to steer clear and go to one of the many cafes near by for drinkable coffee and food warmer than lukewarm.
I was also doubly charged after I paid with my own Visa the one morning I decided to dine in for breakfast. On check out there was a charge against my room for breakfast, which the gentleman on the desk kindly voided after I explained the situation. The morning I went for breakfast, the hostess asked for my room number on arrival which she crossed off a printed list. However, I’m unsure why a breakfast was also charged back to my room after I had already paid by card? Are they crossing people off the list and charging them anyway, not noting if they had already paid? Makes me wonder how many times that may have happened to somebody else.
Overall, a below average experience that left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Would I go back? Probably not. Will I recommend to other colleagues to stay here? Probably not.
The rooms were good, service was good but one elevator didn't work and the other one was EXTREMELY slow. As well as this, there were locks on the doors going from the stairway to the individual levels and they didn't even work, so we had to either put towels under the doors so they didn't close or wait for someone to open for us.
Just wanted to give a shoutout to Matthew the night reception manager that helped us at 1: 30am to book two last minute rooms when Jetstar cancelled our flight. Really went above and beyond to help, ever so grateful.
Rooms we clean and spacious, on site buffet breakfast that was good also.
The place is not far from the train station and bus terminal. Mineral water is not provided but only boxed milk
Tea and coffee were not refilled. Call staff to ask for a refill and to inform them that my power had gone out at around 8pm. By the time I checked out at 830 the next morning neither of these things had been fixed. Water in the shower was barely warm. There’s a reason there’s not many pictures of the bathrooms on the website. Will not be staying here again.
Very nice place to stay. Had a fantastic welcome and was shown the facilities on arrival by staff.
The restaurant was poi Ted out and the pool/gym location explained.
Only a few minutes walk from the major shopping areas, and close to public transport.
The location is excellent for travellers. The environment is quite good. I appreciate the assistance from the reception manager who patiently helped me with the check-in process when encountering some systemic issues. Besides, the gym is well-equipped.p. S. The pancakes for breakfast are delicious~
A renovators dream it's all I can say
As an Accor platinum member, this place is really below any of my expectations
Went to the pool in the evening to have a look no lights up there
Really not something I expected
The breakfast was the very best thing
Also like to say the staff are welcoming
Annoyed upon check in
Que out the door and only one person checking people in
Need to up their game
Really dissapointed with my stay. The pool was small, overcrowded and had 4 sun loungers. The pool bar was closed. The spa was out of order.no space in the private parking but you couldn't book in advance. I wouldn't have minded if I had been notified when booking that facilities weren't available. The room was lovely and clean. I wouldn't stay again.
Nice roims and verh clean, but the walls are paper thin, lying in bed and can hear the person in the next room snoring and woken up at 4am by a baby crying in next room till 5.30am. You can seriously hear everything i will never stay here again its ridiculous
From check in it was average! We stayed on what was a very busy night (Perth Christmas Padgent) but we didn't expect the absolute lack of commitment we received. We tried to order room service at 4.15, was told it was over an hour wait, we decided to order for later. Placed an order after waiting in the restaurant for 15 mins to be served, and seeing multiple people cancelling their orders and walking out, we asked if we could order for 9pm delivery, yes we were able to, got a phone call from room service at 9.10pm saying food had been sitting for too long and they couldn't re cook as the kitchen had been cleaned so could we order off the late menu, we declined as we know kids can be fussy and didn't like anything on the late menu. We asked for it to be refunded and we had to head to MacDonalds for dinner! Not impressed at all!
Booked a queen room and tried to down grade us because they didn’t have it available then to just have the room magically available again.
Bad service the pool spa and gym all out of order, tried to order room service and they were all out but I would say a lack of motivation to cook.
Will not be staying again
The whole buildings air con was broken for the whole stay, and it was 42 degrees that day/night
It was very poor room service. Poor air conditioning and its not working properly and poor room service. I m not satisfied
Beautiful room, nice pool but cold as it’s on the roof and there is wind. Sauna broken, nice gym stuff. Staff nice and polite, we went for my partner 30years old birthday. They give us wine and a happy birthday card so nice of them! Every day room cleaned new towels, cutlery cleaned. Bed confortable, restaurant no included in the price. Overpriced 500$ for 3 nights
It was 35$ extra everyday for a parking place. We put our car at « fire place parking » for 30$ only for the 3 nights
Staff are great and VIP parking beautiful. Room was well presented but only standard TV channels was a let down
