Lo Quay River Cafe reviews
44 Great place for breakfast. Very busy at weekends.
Sadly, I have to change my review. Lo Quay has obviously changed hands and is not the place it used to be. The food is OK, but the service is off. Some of the people serving are just too miserable.
Decent food when they're open, but don't believe the opening hours. By four they can be shut and happy to ignore you at the door.
Attended "Morning Tea" of Cannington Community Computer Club. Excellent venue at Canning River, near Riverton Bridge. Free parking, toilets, kids playground, great view.
CCCC is technical with friendly members. We meet 1: 00pm every Friday at Rostrata Family Centre.
We went for lunch and ordered chicken toastie. The Turkish bread was so big in size, and chicken was 1 small piece.
I have a photo also.
I suggest you buy a small bread if you want to put smaller amount of chicken.
Coffee is fantastic, many sweet and savory choice, s. Has fenced in playground, plenty of seating, indoor as well as out. Staff were great, food was promptly served.
Very disappointing. Great location but sadly the service was poor (waited an hour) and the food all tasted the same, and like left overs thrown together.
Nice outside for lunch both the soup and the filo pie was nice. The pear/custard crumble was very yum! I find the queuing up to order a real drag and ordering by the internet is beyond me! Need 2 staff taking orders and one full time on coffees. It’s a bit chaotic at present and it’s all about staff be available! I come here quite often and it’s always chaotic when ordering. Will return as it’s a great location.
Food is great but very bad service no one will actually assist you to find a seat, they will just tell you check which seat is available and most tables are booked but here we are a paying customer no one gives a care whether we can find a table or not.
2nd visit we order matcha and flat white and the worst matcha we ever had not even drinkable a waste of money, imagine their barista added a cinnamon powder on matcha! What the heck.
Our last visit was on a cold and raining day but we had booked a table inside so were out of the cold. We did however, still have river views.
We had taken my elderly mother (who requires a walker for support) there to enjoy a brunch with family and we were able to obtain access to an ACROD bay and walk up a flat path to enter Lo Quay.
Our meal choices ensured we had a lovely dining experience again, and are looking forward to future visits.
The ability to be able to book a table on-line was an added bonus.
Good to go if you have kids as there is a playground surrounding the cafe. Bit noisy though nice view for a coffee
The last time I was here was some 10 years ago under a different name by a different operator. It wasn’t good but I’m very happy that I’m here again and a different operator with a nice name of Lo Quay River Cafe.
Ordered the Scones for myself and the Mushroom Stilton Bruschetta for my wife.
First the scones, it crumbled nicely and wasn’t sweet or overly firm. In other words, perfectly done in house.
Now for the mushroom stilton bruschetta, superb that’s what I can say.
There’s more, the pot of Earl Grey tea was very fragrant and well brewed.
The staff were friendly and very pleasant to interact with. This cafe deserves more than the 5 stars rating available.
We ordered the fish tacos, steak sandwich and chicken cheese avocado toastie, iced coffee, berry smoothie and 2 mango tangos
All The food lacked salt and flavour but was hot when it came out
The berry smoothie was ok but the mango smoothies only tasted like orange juice and the iced coffee was very average and didn't come with a spoon for the ice cream.
The tables were all dirty and had to ask for them to be wiped.
Were not rushing back
Wonderful location, lovely staff, great food. Well worth a visit. Limited parking, venue always busy so may pay to book ahead. KlFamily friendly, dog friendly (outside)
Lovely Riverside cafe.extensive menu, friendly staff and very reasonably priced. Recommend you book as very popular place
Beautiful setting next to the river.
Was extremely busy when we went on a Sunday morning. We didn't end up eating here as the line to order was extremely long.
But the menu and food looked great
It may be popular but that's just for the setting, definitely not for the service or the coffee.
Busy Cafe, booking advised. Food great, service with a smile always nice. Enjoyed my first experience here
As usual, lo quay does not disappoint. The food is scrumptious, the location is great and the staff/management are efficient and very pleasant
Hadn’t been for a few months. Something changed. Menu still the same on website but changed in house, food in display counter was not priced. Food was mediocre compared to previous times and also over priced for what it was. Maybe I’ll wait another year or two before i return. Shame, great area and used to be a really good cafe.
Normally Lo Quay is a gem for relaxing and eating delicious food, but on my last visit the food was just such a disappointment. I ordered the Greek wrap, which was nice as well as a bowl of chips. The chips were over cooked almost burnt and tasted of over used/burnt oil. Then I had a slice of Hummingbird cake to take away which was stale and the cream was off and my friend ordered the lemon coconut slice which was also stale. This was the first time in about 20 years of visiting Lo Quay that I was truly disappointed.
Honestly, dine-in because of the river side views. Good spot for chilling and hanging around with my family. Foods are fair but the coffee can be improving in a better way coz I m quite high standard on coffee but everything is good. Will come back for better coffee tho.
