Lo Quay River Cafe reviews
44 We went for lunch and ordered chicken toastie. The Turkish bread was so big in size, and chicken was 1 small piece.
I have a photo also.
I suggest you buy a small bread if you want to put smaller amount of chicken.
Food is great but very bad service no one will actually assist you to find a seat, they will just tell you check which seat is available and most tables are booked but here we are a paying customer no one gives a care whether we can find a table or not.
2nd visit we order matcha and flat white and the worst matcha we ever had not even drinkable a waste of money, imagine their barista added a cinnamon powder on matcha! What the heck.
Coffee is terrible, I’ve watched them use the same beans for multiple coffees on several occasions and they always taste burnt. Water tasted like soap one time as if they hadn’t rinsed the cup properly after washing it.
Booked a table - they lost our reservation
Service is subpar at best
Only reason this place is the volume of people through the doors because of the location neither the food or service are worth effort to come here
Really bad experience. Lady at the coffee counter was very rude and didnt have any patience to answer our questions about the food which was not labelled. Its really unfortunate that you go for a coffee on a beutiful rainy saturday morning and some one who spoil that day without any reason
I ordered a quich and English breakfast tea. The top of the quiche was burned and tasted bitter, I told the waitress and she called over her boss. He then proceeded to say nothing was wrong with it, that's just how it's cooked. I asked him if he wanted to taste it since it was that bitter and he walked away without answering and left me with the burned quiche!
It's ruined my morning time.
Very bad service! The man in the counter forgot my order (i paid already) People who order late than me, all got their drink. And he just told me my drink on the way even he forgot what i order. He doesn‘t admit he is wrong and not say sorry. He such a rubbish man.
Very disappointing. Great location but sadly the service was poor (waited an hour) and the food all tasted the same, and like left overs thrown together.
We ordered the fish tacos, steak sandwich and chicken cheese avocado toastie, iced coffee, berry smoothie and 2 mango tangos
All The food lacked salt and flavour but was hot when it came out
The berry smoothie was ok but the mango smoothies only tasted like orange juice and the iced coffee was very average and didn't come with a spoon for the ice cream.
The tables were all dirty and had to ask for them to be wiped.
Were not rushing back
It may be popular but that's just for the setting, definitely not for the service or the coffee.
Normally Lo Quay is a gem for relaxing and eating delicious food, but on my last visit the food was just such a disappointment. I ordered the Greek wrap, which was nice as well as a bowl of chips. The chips were over cooked almost burnt and tasted of over used/burnt oil. Then I had a slice of Hummingbird cake to take away which was stale and the cream was off and my friend ordered the lemon coconut slice which was also stale. This was the first time in about 20 years of visiting Lo Quay that I was truly disappointed.
Great place for breakfast. Very busy at weekends.
Sadly, I have to change my review. Lo Quay has obviously changed hands and is not the place it used to be. The food is OK, but the service is off. Some of the people serving are just too miserable.
Decent food when they're open, but don't believe the opening hours. By four they can be shut and happy to ignore you at the door.
The location is nice, but it's quite busy on a Sunday for brunch with a 10 person line. The food looked nice but lacked any real flavour. The freshly squeezed juices were nice tho. Nothing here to make me come back.
Food seems to be dry and over cooked not happy last couple of times coffee has a bitter taste also.
Nice outside for lunch both the soup and the filo pie was nice. The pear/custard crumble was very yum! I find the queuing up to order a real drag and ordering by the internet is beyond me! Need 2 staff taking orders and one full time on coffees. It’s a bit chaotic at present and it’s all about staff be available! I come here quite often and it’s always chaotic when ordering. Will return as it’s a great location.
Our last visit was on a cold and raining day but we had booked a table inside so were out of the cold. We did however, still have river views.
We had taken my elderly mother (who requires a walker for support) there to enjoy a brunch with family and we were able to obtain access to an ACROD bay and walk up a flat path to enter Lo Quay.
Our meal choices ensured we had a lovely dining experience again, and are looking forward to future visits.
The ability to be able to book a table on-line was an added bonus.
Good to go if you have kids as there is a playground surrounding the cafe. Bit noisy though nice view for a coffee
Beautiful setting next to the river.
Was extremely busy when we went on a Sunday morning. We didn't end up eating here as the line to order was extremely long.
But the menu and food looked great
Honestly, dine-in because of the river side views. Good spot for chilling and hanging around with my family. Foods are fair but the coffee can be improving in a better way coz I m quite high standard on coffee but everything is good. Will come back for better coffee tho.
