Lalla Rookh

We had the pizza special which was a perfect balance of flavour and simple choice of ingredients, unusually tasty and a perfect crust. We Added to our lunch a serve of arancini and a serve of fried chicken also delicious we couldn't finish it all so took some home in a box. I can also I say the service was notably good, the waiter could comfortably describe everything on the menu, thank you for a great break in our day. If you go there remember to try the warm fresh bread served just before the meal with a drizzle of the olive oil from the bottles on the table. An added surprise.

The service was very good and the food tasted good when we ate it. But I think my friend and I got food poisoning as we were both up through the night and still suffering the next day with dodgy stomachs and frequent dashes to the bathroom.

Just awful. Waitress was miserable. I ordered a glass of wine that tasted like the bottle had been opened weeks ago. I told her and she said nothing. Just took the near full glass away. Didn't ask if i wanted anything else. Arancini extremely salty. Fish was overcooked. How hard is it to make an affogato? Three of us ordered it and it tasted of curry. No idea what the liqueur was but it tasted just dreadful. Will never go there again.

Great wine selection, great service, great food. The smaller Wine Room is a particularly lovely space if you're looking to sit and catch up with old friends enjoying a particularly good drop.

Shared lunch with work colleagues. Perfect place to indulge in fabulous food and delicious wine.

Great service given by Joe & other staff attentive and knowledgeable on specials and sequence of service.

Joe's hosting was outstanding, suggesting a delightful a quaffable chianti. Pork dish & carpaccio favourite dishes of the night.

We ordered the the chargrilled quail which was seasoned nicely.
Then I ordered the seafood pasta which was lacking in oomph. The table next to me asked for chilli flakes and salt for the same dish.
My friend ordered the pork and fennel pasta which was not bad
Dessert was tiramisu semifreddo. The espresso caramel was too sweet. I rather have tiramisu/espresso ice cream.

Food was nice but be careful the portion wasn't big enough to make you feel full especially for guys. Had a cocktail. Price is the market price, but the glass was small even for the person who doesn't drink often.

Staffs are unfriendly and harsh! Probably they are more welcoming to who r familiar with their menus. I had confusion with with their dishes and they really don’t seem interested to explain! New customers r not welcomed I guess.

Great bar and vibe, excellent staff and service. I had the osso bucco. Worst meal I have had in 2021. Not sure it could have been cooked any worse. Also unclear how the kitchen achieved that. Wasn’t even hot enough to be a microwave job.

Great food, a bit pricey. I recommend the pizza and bistecca alla fiorentina (to share). The steak was perfectly cooked.

Pretty standard after-work drinks spot. Tap beers could be more adventurous. Reasonable prices and a happy hour between 5-6pm so overall not bad.

Came for lunch when the place was quite empty. However we had to wait super long for the foods. The dishes were delicious, but still a waste of our time

Nice atmosphere, great wine list and the wines we tried were all really nice, food was quite tasty. The service was mostly quite good, but we were forgotten about for a while even though it was still early and relatively quiet. Our mains also came out shortly after we ordered food and a few minutes after our bread arrived, it was a bit too quick and felt like they wanted us in and out the door. Other than that it was a great dinner.

With all the hype surrounding this place, I must say, I was slightly underwhelmed. They are very good, but just not as great as they’re made out to be. I’ve been here several times over the years and I do like their renovations. I find their entrees and desserts to be very nice and full of flavour more so than their mains. Their beef carpaccio is however, excellent. This is a good place to have work functions or after work drinks.

Tad disappointed with my visit last night. The Maître de was very clearly in a bad mood and she was discourteous. The waiter was great, although perhaps struggling to deal with all his tables. The food pretty good. The whole place was a bit raucous though, primarily due to a large table of piss-heads who detracted from the ambiance.
With so many great alternatives out there, I don't think I'll be back.

Went with a small group of friends here on Saturday night. We found a quieter table at the end of the restaurant. A very solid performance with the various plates of pasta. I had the papardelle with braised rabbit and green vegetables. My attractive spouse consumed a really delicious crab linguini.

Having waited a while before coming here I left a little disappointed with the whole evening.

I have eaten at many places in and around Perth. And have some great benchmarks in terms of quality meals and evenings out dining.

Unfortunately, Lalla Rookh doesn't make it into that list. Everything was just a little too underwhelming. From the mushroom risotto that tasted bland, and had a few mushrooms scattered in. To the gnocchi that was over cooked and mushy.

The litmus test for me is "would I return? ".

I'm afraid the answer is no.
