Ha-Lu Japanese Tapas Restaurant

Had take away vege tempura bento and chicken teriaki bento. Terrible slop, solid lumps of vege tempura, almost inedible sloppy dumplings, and strange crumbed objects. Teriaki chicken was Ok.
A once only experience. Save some money and get a prepacked salad at the supermarket for better tasting food.

We shared a delicious selection of Japanese style tapas, it was yum and affordable. I forgot to take photos because we were all too hungry! Beef tataki, octopus, karaage and sashimi were the highlights!

I recently had an exceptional dining experience at this Japanese tapas restaurant. From the moment I entered, the service was prompt and friendly. As it is a small restaurant, I highly recommend making a booking in advance.

One dish that stood out to me was the Tuna toro onsen egg. It was so good that I couldn't resist ordering a second portion! However, I am already looking forward to my next visit in order to try other enticing dishes.

During my dinner, I had the opportunity to try eight different dishes, including dessert, and I can confidently say that everything was delightful. The scallops and duck were particular highlights for me, and the quick service ensured that all eight dishes were brought out in about one hour and fifteen minutes. The staff were incredibly friendly throughout the meal.

I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an amazing dining experience. The combination of exceptional food, friendly service, and great atmosphere make it a truly memorable place.

Very attentive staff. You can tell the authencity of this place from the moment you step in the restaurant. Can’t find any fault to this place. Food tasted good and fresh. My only opinion is though traditional, the selection on the dining menu is very limited. Would love to come back more often again if the menu can be updated with more choices.

Food are so basic and few of them are actually bit disappointing. Sashimi was very small served and doesn’t have many to choose. Beef are too raw and chewy. Service was even disappointing and really slow. We were there for nearly one hour to have our main dish. And I was told they were running out of kids cutlery, soft drink been sold out either when I wanted to place an order.
Basically won’t recommend to my friends.

Love this place but dropped one star for food as we prefer our pork belly with crackle.it was more of a pulled pork. The staff are attentive, it's smaller in size which gives it a great atmosphere. Worth the visit.

Went to dinner for Mum’s birthday, and it was fantastic. Too notch quality food, not a huge menu, but everything we ordered was delicious.
Great service too.

I’ve been coming to Ha-Lu once or twice a year for special occasions for several years now and every time I am blown away by how good the food is! Thank you for such a great experience every time.

Trying this place for first time. Nice, small and comfy restaurant. Friendly service. Good quality and flavor of Japanese Tapas. Love the sashimi of the day. And wont hesitate to come back to enjoy some more.

Staff were friendly, nice location. However, the food was rather disappointing. The beef was almost raw so I asked the waitress if they can heat it up. She was reluctant to do that and asked if I can just leave the beef on the side on the warm pot. I said I did but it is still raw. So she took it back to the kitchen to recook for us. When the beef came out this time, it cooks a little bit better but still very much raw with running blood and chewy. The other dishes that we ordered (which I cant remember all the names) were just average. Both me and my partner felt really sick after the food, we came home and I literally threw up on the driveway. Such a bad dining experience

We went back and it was still great.

But The wait time for Uber eats is appalling

Paying top price to receive my order after 1and 1/2 hours and cold was disgraceful
Uber driver on bike stopping on way with other orders is not good enough if u can’t service people properly

One of the best communication between customer and owner. At each stage of the booking there is an email, really love this idea.

Services very attentive and excellent food presentation. I loved the duck aubergine with the Madeira sauce; the meat was so tender only problem was there was not enough of it. Same go for the sashimi of ge day. I thought it was costly for the size. Taste wise amazing; wagyu beef tataki, blue spot emperor as well as the desert. A good date night meals overall.

Very nice meals. We shared our plates and would have ordered more if we could eat more. Menu was very appetising.

Absolutely delicious - leaves you feeling satisfied but not stuffed as all the dishes have such beautiful and healthy ingredients. The atmosphere is great and the staff is super friendly! A favorite in Perth

I know rocking up at 8: 15pm is late, hence i politely asked if there is a chance i could still grab a bite and would have accepted a no.
Instead I was faced with a rather hesitant, almost impolite 'yeah okay' which initially was off putting but hey, we all have bad days, so no dramas.
'Tender beef' as written in menu was unfortunately chewy and a tad dry for what it is advertised in the menu, some items in the dish were missing (as per image displayed in menu)
Miso soup was okay, tiramisu is unfortunately quite sugar loaded and taste filled, i'd much rather enjoy a medium sweet delightful dessert instead.
All in all for a first visit just meh, i'm unsure if the chef or waiters were just tired or if my dishes in particular were off that day.
I'd recommend to focus on dish and service improvements all around to make people leave with a full tummy and a smile in their face.

Really enjoyed the dishes here - Japanese tapas is certainly a clever concept. Favourites were agedashi tofu, duck/eggplant, octopus, scallop. Would dine here again!
