Galena Bridge Camp Area reviews
56 Fairly good amenities and well maintained considering how far this is from a main town.
River was nice and fairly quiet considering the freely is not far away.
Spots for fires when permitted.
North of the bridge is the best! Find the straight dirt road and follow it down for spots away from others. Have a fire but keep it tidy and take Ur rubbish. Bins provided at entrance though and pretty sure there is toilets at the main bit.
Easy to find and probably the most spacious free camping area in WA. Setup with bathrooms and ready for caravans' waste disposal.
Clean areas, drop toilets and rubbish bins. South side is definitely flatter and huge area. Great place for an overnighter!
Wildflowers were around aswell, made for a pretty camp!
4 stars for free camp. Stayed Large area south side. Lots of people in at 3pm already. Long drops smelly. Bins had been emptied. River flowing well. No mozzies that night. Camp-fire allowed till 15/09.
Lovely spot to stop. Most of all the spots we stay are very clean now there isn't those backpackers.
Great overnight spot just off the highway. Can get very busy, drop toilets are just adequate. North side is the less used.
This is a good 24hr rest stop. There are plenty of sites on both sides of the river. Each area has a few toilets, a dump point, a table & bench-seat and a few fire-pits. It is right beside the Murchison river with access to launch a kayak into the fresh water reaches above a weir.
Another must for a 24hr stop over. One of the long drop toilets should be avoided unless you have lost your sense of smell, taste and sight.
Met some new friends while there.
A beautiful camp-site on the river. Well maintained by campers and Dept.main roads who cleaned the toilets as well as emptying bins. Loved the couple of days we camped here.
Excellent, very busy free camp with lots of big rigs with plenty of room to manoeuvre. A number unhitched to go into Kallbarie to check out the cyclone damage. Plenty of fire pots, tables n chairs, toilets & dump point.what else do you need for free? Close run into Geraldton in am
Arrived before 1200 and got a good spot the area filled during the afternoon. Toilets not the best, but have have heavy use
Great spot to pull in toilets and dump points, right on the River plenty of area to choose a spot
Large official rest area on both banks of the Murchison River near Ajana, WA. Must be self-contained but there are facilities on-site.
Time and Cost: 24 hours, Free.
Access: Easy sealed access from the main highway. Gravel/dirt tracks around camping area.
Facilities: Flat, hard dirt camp sites with some shade near river. Drop toilets, bins, covered seating and three dump points. Very weak Telstra but no Optus or TV reception.
Ambiance: Riverside location, some road noise from highway, can be windy. Often busy at this location.
Suited as an overnight stopover for self-contained vehicles. Very popular.
Probably the largest free camping areas I've seen on my trip up the west coast. (Drop) toilets and covered seating by a river.
Very popular. I counted over 50 vehicles on my way out this morning before I gave up.
Awesome place to stop overnight.
Really popular so get in early to grab a good spot.met a lovely lady who we assisted after she had a fall in her camper.would be nice if everyone paid a little attention to thier travelling neighbours as there were people camped closer to the lady but ignored her cries for help!
no showers but there's long drops.
Average overnight stay, there are two sections separated by the river, the northern side (which we stayed on) was very quiet only two of us there, the southern side looked like it had a few cars and campers. Drop toilets weren't the cleanest, but they did have a water system coming from the river, and lights on at night.
Huge campsite on the river with amenities. Was over 50+ vans there when we stayed and still plenty of room.
Nice spot near the river, plenty of room, great overnighter.
Bins, dump points and toilets are provided, please use them.
Thank you Main Road Department. Lots of dumps sites and toilets that are a bit smelly. Great for stop over
