Finlay's Kalbarri

Fantastic place, loved it.
Good was great for our group, we all really enjoyed it.
Great atmosphere- def recommended place to visit and eat

Ordered the “Australian Salt and Pepper Southern Calamari” at a price of $26 dollars I thought it would be fresh. It taste like frozen packet squid! Kids had the standard nuggets and chips while my wife had the fish tacos completely underwhelmed considering it’s a fish bar! Nice atmosphere and friendly staff hard to justify a return trip after reading the other reviews.

What a terrific find this was! So good we ate there twice! Really laid back, quaint atmosphere, awesome craft beers, top notch seafood and just really lovely, down to earth great service. We will be back and we can’t recommend highly enough!

Must see if you are in Kalbarri.

We had the whole crayfish, Exmouth prawns, chilli mussels and creamy garlic prawns.

Creamy garlic prawns and mussels could have been better, rest was good enough.

Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere in an awesome eclectic setting. Great craft beer. This is THE place to have a beer or dine in Kalbarri.

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our dinner at Finlay’s. The chips were very undercooked and had not been salted, the calamari was well cooked but the batter was flavourless, the pulled pork burger was extremely smokey which overpowered any other flavour, and the jalapeño poppers were stuffed with what we think is a tomato rice with no cream which would have balanced the flavours better, though they were probably the best part of the meal. The aoli which came with all the dishes was very, very garlicy which even for a garlic lover was overpowering. My partner said the beers were good. We were disappointed, we hoped to enjoy it based on other reviews here though my parents who visited about 3 years ago said it was similar to their experience.

Undoubtedly the best food in Kalbarri, and the beer well….
The Hazy was the all time favourite of WA breweries, but we grabbed a few take away cans of the IPA. It’s also incredible.
Overall this place has been a huge highlight of our trip west. We have even changed plans to swing back through on our way back for just a few more pints!

Great food, service and entertainment. Quite a quirky place. Lots of old stuff. Dog friendly. For all the family. Well done whoever thought of this and to the excellent staff. We had garlic bread and squid. Cooked to perfection. Your cider is a good drop too and mid strength beer. Thumbs up from us.

Had a delicious meal here. The restaurant is iconic and a must do when visiting Kalbarri. Such a great vibe. Slightly exxy but to be expected due to the remoteness. Highly recommend the chilli mussels!

COME FOR THE BEER- not for the food!
Went here for dinner as I have had the beers before coming to Kalbarri - great beers love em, hazy, IPA, lager ect… the food however is poor…tasteless, small portions and expensive. Best to elsewhere,

Visited Finlay's on recommendation from family. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. I ordered the creamy garlic prawns. For $42 I was expecting a tasty high quality meal. Instead I was met with a bland plain bowl of dry rice with prawns on top. There was no creaminess or garlic flavours present. Thankfully there were plenty of prawns served to fill me up. Feedback passed on to waiter, no follow up received.

We went to Finlay’s for dinner tonight as we had a great experience there last time we were in Kalbarri, unfortunately this time was not a great experience. The kids menu had linguine with cheese, as most kids menus you would assume this was pasta with sauce. It came out as plain pasta with a sprinkle of cheese, for $8, this is just absurd. You can buy a packet of pasta for $1 at most shops. We also ordered the cray special, it was $90 but because we were on holidays we thought, why not? ! For that amount of money, you would expect something pretty amazing but it wasn’t. The cray was cooked well so that was good but it was tiny and it came with a small serve of chips and a tiny salad without any dressing. The service is great here so it’s really disappointing to post a bad review as the place gets packed. I was hesitant to post this but after spending so much money there it was really upsetting to have spoken to them about this and them only offering an extra plate of chips. After this experience I think I would rather go to the local pub where everyone leaves full and happy

Can’t be happier with the service! Absolutely delicious food that came out in less then 15 minutes. I didn’t drink any beer but those around me who did said they loved it.

Nice little spot, Good food id recommend the hazy for sure. Pity the crays weren’t available but the prawns made up for it

One of the best brewery restaurants that we have been to. They make all of their own beers on sites. Love the rustic settings in the indoor and outdoor areas with all the fire places and old memorabilia throughout. Excellent service by all wait staff. A Must try place.

We went to Finlay's twice during our holiday to Kalbarri and both times the food, service and atmosphere were excellent. They did an amazing job considering how busy it was. There is a small kids area with Jenga blocks which kept the kids entertained for most of the time we were there. The kids also loved the marshmallows to toast on the fire. Make sure you book ahead during busy periods as it was fully booked both nights that we went. We will definitely be back next time!
