CURRY VIRUNDHU reviews
61Food was ok. Very surprised with pricing, certainly overpriced for a veg meal $25. Same meal in Vic Park - $12.50 with unlimited top ups also. Could be clear with pricing (signage) and I wish I asked before eating. Service is friendly but next level slow. No drinks offered and when I asked for water he put tap water in a bottle that was sitting out with flies all around and gave me. Bathroom was extremely filthy, despite me just going there to wash my hands, found it difficult even to do so.
Seriously the best and most authentic Indian food I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve never been to Tamil Nadu nor southern India but it felt like I was being directly transported there, culinary speaking. No pretentious vibe here whatsoever, just simple good food. The service was also impeccable and very friendly. I’m really glad that this restaurant is in my neighbourhood, I can’t wait to go there again!
Overall good experience of eating with hands, the food, ambience and the service! Would be coming back ️
Amazing amazing amazing!
This place is a must for South Indian/ Sri Lankan food. Authentic and delicious. We will be back to try more.
Amazing food and service, and a fantastic experience overall, even when they were short on staff! Authentic food, great outdoor setting, pick a clear night.
What a F'xxxxing joke $ 40 for the smallest meal I have ever paid for! Total disgusted! I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND THE FOOD AT BEST AVERAGE! JUST BECAUSE YOU USE BANANA LEAVES FOR RAPPING DOESN'T MAKE THE ANY BETTER JUST MORE EXPENSIVE I'M NOT AT ALL HAPPY!
Little bit out of the comfort zone (eating with hands etc) but the food was just amazing, meat was very tender and Currys so full of flavour will definitely be coming back
Great food, great service. Felt like an Indian feast truly. Wondering why drinks were not part of meal price? Overall still happy with it.
This is quite a unique dining experience and one that may be unfamiliar with many Australian people. It is very popular with the local expat Indian community, so in terms of authenticity, it is the real deal. There are no plates. Food is eaten off banana leaves.
The menu is limited and only available by scanning a QR code at the table, so this may mean the menu changes frequently. You also dine outside, in their nice garden area, although after dark, its difficult to see what you are eating. There is is no indoor seating. You also have only wooden cutlery, paper or plastic cups, so BYO glasses and cutlery (BYO wine) is advised.
The food was unusual (in a good way), tasty and good sized servings.
This is not your run of the mill Indian restaurant. If you want the usual fare like pappadums, garlic naan, lamb madras etc, this is probably not for you.
But if you want authentic Indian food and experience, l reckon you couldn't go past this place. Prices are average. It loses a star because of the plastic cups, cutlery and lighting. But still recommended.
Overpriced, badly serviced dishes in plastic containers with white plastic cutlery and small quantities. A bill of 150aud for a bad experience.yes the staff were friendly but service poor.
Ola, Its my first visit to this venue. I was wondering to have briyani or kothu parotta but i got suggested for kizhi parotta. It was really good, fresh and more soulful. The portion size is really reasonable. As a chef i can feel that essence in the dish. The pairing of curry leaves and pepper corn is phenomenal with rest other spices. I will reckon this place for all the foodies to must try. And i am looking forward on my upcoming visit to try rest other dishes.
Really delicious South Indian food! Lunch with chicken curry, mutton curry and fish fry were spot on! Sarbath was also refreshing! Definitely recommending the place to friends and family
I grew up in Orissa, India and have never been anywhere so nostalgic to southern India. We can't believe we have such a gem of a place in Bassendean, we feel incredibly lucky! The ambiance is beautiful, outdoor seating under fairy lights. Food served simply, on banana leaves. Nothing fancy, completely authentic. The food was exceptional, especially the seafood. Service was friendly and quick too. Loved watching the cooks at work in the outdoor kitchen too. This has become our favourite local for dinner, and worth a try, to experience what a truly authentic south indian meal is all about.
Wow, Curry Virundhu is amazing! Every dish we ordered was delicious - I cannot wait to come back and try more of them. The location is beautiful, a gorgeous brick courtyard with large shade trees and an outdoor kitchen, and the lights in the trees create a lovely ambiance. The staff were phenomenal. Everyone was friendly, competent, knowledgeable and helpful. This is definitely a must-visit, we'll be regulars.
Firstly the aesthetic of the place is so earthen and desi, I fell in love from the entrance itself. Secondly, the foooood is just so authentically south Indian and freshly prepared - especially the seafood. Thirdly, the quantity and serving sizes are very very generous. Fourthly, outdoor seating. I could go on and on.
Just as my husband said “Food that filled you and your heart too”. A Gem hidden in Perth, Australia! Must try!
Very fresh, yummy, authentic Tamil Nadu, South Indian food! The ambience took me all the way back home town! The staff were very friendly. I would most definitely come back here again!
Food superb friendly staff and garden ambience is awesome
Best chicken & mutton briyani, Tasty Kottu parotta and puttu lovers will really enjoy. Definitely "The spot" for South Indian meal
Worst customer service. They missed out to give side dish for dosa's.this is not first time.please improve your customer.briyani alone is worth the money. Rest of the items are way too expensive for the quantity
Honestly, I wouldn’t even give one star.very pathetic food for highly overpriced Menu.there is no price list on internet or in the restaurant. Such a rip off place. If owner gets to read this He/She should try the Dosa somewhere else in Perth, Madras Corner serves a Thali including Dosa, 2 vadas, 2 idlis with sweet for $14. The dosa I had at this restaurant was nowhere near restaurant standard $24. Long story cut short.waste of time and money.
