City West Licensing Centre reviews
56Organised, friendly, efficient. Little wait but you expect that with them being so busy. I always get done what I set out to achieve.
Can't say enough good things about the people and service here. I took my 98yo mother in law in for a photo I D card. There weren't many people so we were served immediately, the person who served us was very patient and understanding.
10 out of 10 for service, professionalism, understanding and courtesy
Very helpful service and knowledgeable staff. Still a bit expensive to remake damaged number plates.
It's OK always too busy doesn't matter what time you visit. I've tried for 11 months to get my WA licence and had my interstate one in always some document we don't have.
My son got his p plates here. Counter service and driving test instructors were professional and friendly. Also plenty of paid parking area as well.
It does its job, but the wait time was ridiculous. You don't really have a choice if you need to go here though, so it is what it is. The service person I dealt with was very friendly and up beat considering what I can only imagine would be a terrible and relentless working environment.
Surprisingly wonderful service. I've lost a number plate and prepared myself for a long queue to apply for a new one. I was greeted straight away after entering the centre and guided through the process. It didn't take long at all before I received the new plate on site. Thank you so much.
Computer says no. Went to get Learners Permit for my son, computer system down. This happened 3 years ago to his sister, obviously nothing has changed, Long queue's and a cloud of smoke at the entrance. Wasted our valuable time, thanks DOT. NOT
Not too busy. Take note that it is paid parking! I was fortunate, inspector was writing parking ticket just as I got back to the car. Very close call
German guy is so rude. I was failed because as I was driving past a bus the bus driver decided to pull out as I was going past and the assessor slammed the breaks on and told me to go back to the licence centre. Didn't even explain feedback was just rude and self entitled. Pity anybody who gets this guy. I recommend not doing your PDA at this place as they will assess you depending on how they are feeling that day. In this guy's case he is miserable everyday most likely so don't even risk potentially getting him.
I didn't get to do my driving test because my cars drive window would roll down and not back up, apparently having a window that doesn't go up is a safety hazard?
Victor (German bloke) is one of, if not the worst Assessor around. He whispers the instructions at a barely audible tone, makes very poor judgment in the instructions he gives and will nit-pick the smallest actions which have zero contribution towards awareness or safety. He will TRY to fail you. If you get this Assessor, save yourself the time & money and walk away. Completely Incompetent!
Have been served by some lovely people at this centre before, however they do not make up for the few terribly rude and entitled ones!
Went for my PDA here and had a terrible experience as the assessor was absolutely rude and did not at all make me feel comfortable and calm. Just added on to my nervousness and anxiety and finished my test just in 15-20 mins.
I didn't even make it in the door. After waiting 40 minutes I was told I'd have to wait another hour to get in. They do note current wait times on their website, but it doesn't count the time you are waiting outside before getting issued a number.
Lines were long (as expected) due to COVID restrictions meaning that there are still maximum capacities in place – got there before opening, the line moved relatively quickly from 8: 15 onwards and staff at the door were friendly. However, the customer service behind the counter was appalling. I was served by a lady named Kerry. I asked a couple of questions as the information on the DOT website was scarce and I genuinely was unsure about a few things, but the responses I got were hostile and seething with attitude that was uncalled for.
I am empathetic that the DOT is busy and this can be stressful. However, this was before 9am, and if customer service is this shocking first thing in the morning, I pity the person being served at 4pm after 100s have been.
Came here today to drop off vehicle transfer forms, but gave up as the line outside extended all the way to the cafe. Please employ more staff!
Staff were great but be prepared to wait a few hours with most of that outside.
I recommend getting there early in the morning there will still be a line but it will move somewhat quickly.
Had to queue for over an hour for a 2 minute transaction (picking up a licence plate I'd already paid for online). This seems to be the case at any time of the day. They obviously need more staff or better support systems.
The staff were polite and pleasant though.
Helpful staff but pick your times as could be up for a queue.
If you can do it online then do so.
