Cicerello's Fremantle reviews
70 Shame, really gone downhill. Chips are in a small bowl and are close to French fry style, that's not the chips you expect from a fish and chip shop. Trying to be sophisticated, and not staying true to the Cicerello"s that everyone used to come for. Don't do freo sardines any more, and a small piece of fish with a small bowl of fries set me back $33?
My local does way better fish and chips. What a shame, a Perth icon has lost their way
What a nice place to eat. It is self service, but that makes it so special. You see what you get and how the prepare it. Really nice place and best food! Best view and really relaxing atmosphere.
I ordered chilli salt & pepper squid & I said I just wanted it as salt & pepper, The guy helping at the counter said he would take the chilli out & it would be salt & pepper. When the order came it was just plain floured squid. We returned it & got a refund on that as it wasn’t explained correctly. Then we started eating the tempura squid which was terrible, big thick uniformly cut squid that looked commercially prepared, that was soggy & not what you would imagine a tempura to be. Then I tried the local snapper & paid extra for the beer batter, , honestly it tasted like frozen Hoki. I’ve caught & cooked local seafood for a long time & this meal was very poor quality & overpriced. No love or care in their food.
Very tasty food however it took quite a while and the place is a bit run down. Service is friendly though and still has that old school charm.
A bit pricey for Just a grilled piece of fish on its own considering it was not a loan order, and didn't appreciate table being cleared whilst I am still eating
We come here often but first time ordering a seafood platter with lobster. We were highly disappointed with the lobster. Way over cooked. It was soooo dry. Would never reorder this meal again.
Good place for your fish and chips but be careful of the sea gulls! They literally chased me down the street with my chips
Absolutely beautiful and the service was fantastic, first time I have ever been and will definitley be going back with my family.
Fish and chips are expensive for what you get but that's to be expected seeing Fremantle and the boat harbour is a tourist area.
Every time I visit Perth, family ask me where would I like to go, to eat? My answer is always (and always will be) Cicerello's in Fremantle! Fantastic food, fantastic setting, fantastic service.
Historic fish and chips in Fremantle. More budget than Kailis Bros next door, nothing really special about it if you ask me. Agree with other comments, bit oily. Barramundi or Snapper, and they were out of Barramundi.
Absolutely amazing but was quite crammed with overflowing crowds of people. Food was scrumptious and delicious however was too oily. Not a bad place to have lunch at the day before New year's eve. Be careful of wild birds!
Edit: back in business with awesome fish and chips
Really let down. Previously a must go for locals and tourists, but has become a bit complacent. Chips still frozen not a good thing. Still has much potential.
Nice with a view over the harbour if you sit outside. Sorry to say this shop has declined with bad tasting chips. It's a little like a tourist trap. Very nice aquariums for the kids! Worth to have a look and leave. 2,30 extra for tomatoesauce/ketchup makes it almost 20 dollars for a standard chip meal, drink not included. Very noisy and wind sensitive. Indifferent service attitude.
Loved this experience. The food is fresh and wrll presented. We had the tasting plate with lobster. Should have included more scallops and the sauce that the many mussels were presented with was not great.
Food was good but services needs a lift. Spend $250 on a meal and when a child asks for tomato sauce it's either 50c for a drop or $2 for a small tub. Ever heard of "Give em the pickle".
The fish and chips are great, ive never been disappointed. One thing alot of people might not know is that Cicerellos have consistently good coffee that is never burnt. You have to wait a while but it is never burnt, unlike alot of hipster high end coffee shops.
What i dont like is the incredibly overfilled tanks with the fish. Its sad and i cant believe this is legal. Its also super touristy as its an iconic store ao be prepared for it to be busy on a weekend.
Had the standard fish and chips - found it a bit too oily. The serving was pretty large. Although ordering was a breeze, it took quite some time for the food to be prepared. Interesting marine aquariums on display in the restaurant. Would recommend sitting indoors to avoid having seagulls snatch your food.
Delicious dish and chips, and wonderful place on the water to dine. Very expensive though $95 for a lobster tail, anyone?). Have loved this place for over 40 years, since when it was a little shack with a window.
Mixed feelings about this place. They have lots of colourful fish in tanks for an interesting dining experience, but are also keeping an octopus in a very small tank, it's very sad to see: (
Food wise, the chilli mussels came in a huge serving and tasted okay. Fish and chips were extremely oily, good if you're craving that.
Nice view of the water upstairs.
