Chalkys Espresso Bar reviews
62I ordered the hock. The potatoes were so flacky. With running egg. Very good. Chill scrambled egg is just fine. Omelette is awful. Overcooked.
Very delicious I would advise booking as this place gets very busy and I can see why it’s definitely yummy. Inside and outside dining. Easy for wheelchairs. Vegan and vegetarian options. Kids friendly. Lovely staff with assist you in your order. Thank you so much.
Coffee was average. Granola bowl was an utter disappointment for $18. Even when I showed the waitress the Insta pic compared to what arrived at the table, she made excuses and went and got the chef (totally unnecessary) who said something about the boss wanted them to redesign the look of the granola bowl… riiiiighhhtt so a business owner is going to demand their kitchen changes a dish to look worse than the Insta promo pic. Can’t recommend the dish or the place based on the defensive response to a genuine query.
Staff didn’t realise there mistakes and didn’t rectify there mistakes before I talk to one of the staff.
Not just me they have a mistake as I watched one of the customers before us. She realised after she give the wrong orders, but customer accept it.
I understand that they trained a new person but they should watch what there serving. Should ask if that’s the right order for all the customers they’ve served.
Ask for two mug of mocha’s, but they give us a glass’s of mocha
Needed more staff. Took 10 minutes to take our order and 25 minutes for the food to come. Food was okay (toast really just warned bread but that seems to be the norm everywhere now). Coffee good.
Amazing place for breakfast. Busy on Sunday morning. Had the Nourish Bowl with chicken which filled me up. Well worth going if you want to try somewhere new with great food and coffee
There are many much better cafes in Fremantle. Good location but otherwise don't bother. Inedible pancakes and average coffee
I really like the atmosphere, good coffee, and nice interior. The drink and foods were all tasty and worthwhile trying
Highly recommended
Perfect place to have breakfast or brunch in Fremantle heart.
Food is amazing and coffee is terrific.
Loved it.
Great location by the prison. Coffee and food are great. Staff is friendly and polite. I'd like to think the staff has good intentions BUT somehow the service is not great. A bit more mindfulness and attention to detail would make this place 5-star worthy.
Great cafe, delicious food in a heritage building (ex tram depot) The coffee is great and the Hock is a must try dish.
I think this is one of the best cafes in Freo.the food is great, the staff are efficient and friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable.the table service is also a pleasant treat (and rare in cafes these days). Thank you
Overall, it's just a pleasant spot to stop in for a bite to eat and a coffee. In fact, I'm going to go as far as this little cafe having the best coffee I've ever had in Australia, and I live here. Furthermore, I've never been a huge fan of bagels, but having one here with cream cheese has put them back in the game. Round House just across the road and working in the logistics industry, freight train just added to the hip Freo vibe. Tucked away this little quaint place, so go searching for it as it's worth it. Staff is cute as, too
Wonderful cafe, the staff are so friendly and lovely, smiling away, understanding, composed, professional, beautiful! Food and coffee is always perfect, too! Thankyou Chalkys People! Much gratitude x
Could not fault a thing!
5 star service and smiles
5 star coffee
5 star food (chilli eggs with bacon / kids pancakes
Clean setting, clean bathroom.
Definitely setting the standard!
See you soon)
Cafe is in a great location in a quiet corner on High Street, right across from The Round House. Friendly service, great food with a good menu selection. The chickpea toast and pancakes are exceptional. Setback is the toilet is located outside of the cafe through a complicated maze.
Came 2 weeks ago for a coffee, which was nice and good moment. So decided to come back for breaky. Coffee was still very good but waited 40min for a pre-made salmon bagel, an uncooked pancake, and dry burnt toasts. Definitely easier to go to the public toilets across street than use theirs. Staff didn't care wether we enjoyed our time and food or not.
Absolutely beautiful place. Great atmosphere, staff were friendly and professional. The food was fantastic. Everything cooked to perfection and the coffee was beautiful not burnt or bitter. Very well done ladies! Made my morning!
4.5 stars Nice food and fair prices.
The only reason I didn’t give five stars was the meals came out after a long time from ordering, the table beside us received their breakfast before us even though we ordered first also the first of our three meals came out a long time before mine came out.
The staff were super friendly and helpful
Coffee was great and that is important! I had a iced coffee which was good too
We had toast and jam which was out of the jar jam, the eggs Benny was good as was the avo smash, the big Brekky was really good with home cooked baked beans and all of our poached eggs were cooked to perfection
Location is great and parking is easy although it’s costs which is no slight on the restaurant. It’s popular with bicyclists and there is plenty of room, we didn’t book and there was tables for us four and a pram.
I recommend this highly and rate “4.5 stars.
Chalkys is the thriving heart of Fremantle’s (very) West End, in my years of going there I have never been able to fault them. Whilst not only do they consistently make the best Long Macs, they’ve also continued to produce the best pulled pork tacos in Fremantle, which as a dual Mexican-Australian I wholly approve of. I would recommend this place to everyone visiting town:)
