Having stayed in the Barn Hives accommodation on site, some months ago, we have been planning to come to the Barnyard for food.

We came for lunch on a Saturday and we were very impressed. A bright open space. Large windows affording great views. And the food was delicious. I ordered the penne pasta not really sure what else was in the dish. I needn't have worried. It was delicious. Soft cheese. Tomatoes. And a healthy addition of salami. I loved it all.

Mrs C had the barramundi and it was to die for. So tasty. She complemented her lunch with a tasty wine and I had a mouth watering home brewed ale.

Highly recommended.

We had the lamb. Very tasty. Asked for more sauce and given a lovely Ju. Recommended. Plus the best latte!

Not child friendly even though there is an advertised play area for kids.
Went for lunch only to find Spaghetti was the only dish for children, school holidays, weid!
Their menue for adults is also strange, very yuppi, weid combinations.
Our party of six left and went elsewhere.
Dont bother going if you have kids, won't go back! And we are locals.

Their home. Made pasta is to die for! One of thr best pasta meals I've ever had in my life. I think it was the freshness of thr pasta and the subtle mix of flavours and textures. The veg pasta was maxing! Wines weren't bad either. And our son loved the wild Chickens that walked around the property. It laso had a kids play area.

We've been coming here for many years now on our down south trips, fantastic location and great atmosphere. However it is sad to see the state of the food in its current form. Amazing starters such as the local Yallingup woodfire bread with various dips and butters avaliable a couple of years ago have been reduced to a single bowl of dip with a handul of bread chips (the price however hasnt changed). The substantial pasta dishes have gone from delicious, great sized portions to something that barely qualifies as a entree and the menu options themselves are drastically reduced. Great coffee and drinks, however unlikely to come back with things as they currently are.

Been coming here for years and its disappointing to see this place decline. When it first opened it was brilliant. Menu options were plentiful and generous. Now it represents poor value. Menu options are restricted and portion sizes are extremely small. Left hungry and poor. Only saving grace is the scenery and location.

It's quite pricey but the food worth it. Presentation is 10/10. Highly recommend Wedge Island chargrilled optopus.

An amazing outdoor setting accompanied with great food and wine. Nice spot for those with children too. A very European vibe which is always nice - think the owners are from Northern Europe themselves.

Got here after driving around the area and was enticed by how gorgeous the place looked, got in and I ordered the supposed falafel that was basically 4 baby carrots for $14 and also got the Barnyard beetroot cappeletti. The portion was TINY for the price but it tasted exquisite. Was really disappointed with the falafel tho, it was 100% NOT a falafel and also the portion size of the main but oh wells, at least it tasted good, I guess.

Nice decor and good service but food was really pricey for what you get. The pricing was up there with some of the awesome restaurants around but quality was not even close. There are much better options around.

Nice enough food but very limited choices on their "holiday season" menu, and seems no breakfasts any more (we did enjoy those way back when).
Also quite pricey for the portion size and the average quality, so value for money isn't great.
Not likely to return unless things improve.

Attentive service. Gorgeous views from every table. Family friendly and of course great food. House baked bread was worth the wait. Recommend the pork belly and scallops and kangaroo. Chardonnay is pretty good too. Our second visit and we will be back.

Barnyard always delivers. We've been here every trip down south and they never disappoint. The pasta dishes are always on point, the bread is wonderful and the beer is we always look forward to going back! Dog-friendly too!

This was our favourite breakfast down South. Do yourself a favour and try to duck waffles, they’re to die for! The service was warm and the coffee was delicious.

The pasta was very good. Nice texture and the sauce is not overpowering. Bought some dried pasta and sayce to cook at home as well. Was just as good as having it there.

The establishment was originally listed as permanently which I reactivated as live. According to their website it's only temporary closed for annual break and maintenance from 26th July till 6th Sept.

We were just looking for a place to settle lunch after spending the morning at Canals Rocks. Chance upon this place which is situated at the exit road. Drawn by the large sculpture, we decided to do lunch there. We were surprised! The pasta with pulled lamb, pork belly and kid's meal are absolutely fabulicious! Service is excellent and the playground, with roaming chickens, was a joy to the kids! Overall it is the best way to end our trip to Margaret River!

Very disappointing customer service. We queued to order a takeaway coffee and sweets but waitress told us she’d take orders from other customers in the queue first.we thought because they had a table. The person behind us orders a takeaway coffee and she takes the order!? We just left.

Incredibly disappointed!
Arrived half an hour before advised closing, staff advised that regardless of the multiple empty tables and despite availability that we were unable to dine on this particular day as they were only taking previously booked parties.
The staff member was abrupt and gave no expalantion. As we drove away we saw that they still had a sign on the road advertising lunch.luckily we had a lovely lunch down the road.won’t be going back

I am not one to complain but this place really lacked customer service. The food was ok, my husband had the prawn ravioli and I had the gnocchi. The location is quite pretty I will say that. My issue is that we were given a dessert menu, waited for 30min and were still not attended to and that's really not on. We got up, paid and left. I will finish by saying the girl who was taking our payment could really benefit from a lesson in people skills as she was quite rude. She was also the one who gave us the dessert menu and did not return to our table. I am really disappointed as I was really excited to visit Barnyard 1978 and would have really liked to have given this place a 5 star rating.
