Yuni's Kitchen reviews
54Without a doubt one of the great and authentic restaurants of Melbourne. Yuni’s incredible cooking is always such a satisfying and pleasurable experience. If only I lived in the neighbourhood, I’d be there more often. Vegan friendly and BYO. The best.
Absolutely have loved visiting since moving into the area - Nasi campur ayam, barramundi and mie goreng noodles have all been absolutely delicious. BYO and a relaxed vibe!
We’ve been coming here regularly for nearly ten years and the food just gets better and better!
We came here for a family celebration on the weekend and chose beef rendang and ikan barramundi. The rendang is probably the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a lot, mainly in Sumatra and other parts of Indonesia. This definitely rivals those. But the barramundi was the knock out! So fresh! Cooked to perfection
All is absolutely superb. I don’t know how they do it at the prices they charge (very reasonable) but it’s a winning formula. Hooray for Yumi’s Kitchen
The best. Best food in Melbourne no. Best Indonesian food in Australia. Give it a go makes me feel like I’m in Bali just a bit cooler lol
Takeaway experience - high quality ingredients, however some of the dishes were a bit bland (not the laksa - was great) and sizing of some felt small given the cost (again not the laksa, which was twice the size of the noodle dishes)
Great atmosphere and friendly staff - will need to try eat in
Always delicious, so authentic, generous servings. Cosy casual resturant and great prices. One of my favourite places to eat
Best and most authentic Indonesian food in Melbourne. Really warm hosts, a cozy non-pretentious neighbourhood atmosphere with high quality and tasty food.
Yuni and Matt certainly know what they are doing. Every meal is delicious and I always leave yearning for more.
Food was absolutely beautiful. Between 6 of us we had a fair range from the menu and every item was absolutely delicious.
Amazing authentic Indonesian flavours. The restaurant was tucked behind a church, but had signs just outside to lead you to the right place. Yuni's kitchen had quick, friendly and attentive service. We ordered two serves of the Satay Ayam for entree. We had the Rendang, Ikan pepes and the Vegetarian Laksa with serves of Jasmine and the Turmeric & coconut rice - the amount of food looked tiny but filled a family of 4 very well. One bight of any of their dishes and you'll know why they are popular with the locals. The satay was beautiful and juicy. The barramundi wrapped in banana leaf was packed with flavour. The laksa was out of this world. A little disappointed with the rendang, as I found the beef a little dry but that was not enough to ruin our experience here. Best to book for dinner - we came on a Wednesday night and it was buzzing with couples, friends catching up and families with babies and older children. Would come back!
Beautiful food, token to the cook/ chef behind the scene. Small portions. Rude male owner. For the latter reasons, I'd be reluctant to return or recommend.
A hidden gem in Northcote, incredible food full of delicious spices, took me back to a wonderful time in Bali. Very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.
Will definitely be back when next in Melbourne!
The Indonesian smell, savor the taste of Ayam, babi to the max and the customer service above and beyond. Love the place.
As Indonesian, I find Yuni's food are very authentic and delicious. Brought the whole local family here and they love it too! Definitely will be back again.
Yuni’s kitchen is THE place to visit for authentic, incredibly delicious Indonesian cuisine. Quality ingredients in their dishes with quality service & their kitchen is immaculate. The nasi campur ayam is fantastic and so is the durian panacotta. Highly recommend this gem.
Changed rating from 2 stars to 3 out of politeness. Nasi goreng tasted a day or two old, very basic with supermarket frozen vegetable cubes all though it.
Beef rendang, ordered it and the owner asked if we wanted rice with it. Agreed thinking it was on the side. Received a medium container 75% white rice 25% beef rendang and very dry, no sauce and an overpowering sour favour. Over $20 for that dish.
Very expensive, unenjoyable meal. Sorry to say.
Great food with friendly service. I ordered the Nasi Campur Ayam. I called up to order and they text me when it was ready to be collected. I was greeted with a warm welcome upon pick up.
The food was delicious - a great spread of a range of delicious Indonesian foods. Hit the spot!
Loved the vegetarian curry laksa, such clean flavours and reasonably priced and flavours as well. Nasi Goreng was good just ask for mild if you can eat chillies. Will definitely go back for morE food. Please book and go as it’s a small eatery tucked in the church on high street look for the gate on the right hand side and big red door.
This place could serve some of the most delicious food in Northcote - and that's a big call. We've enjoyed eating in the court yard during the warmer weather for years but have only just started eating their take away during lockdown. Also amazing. Flavours and freshness are bang on. That chilli sauce!
Quiet Indonesian resturant of the main High St drag, tucked behind the local church. Solid Indonesian food and attentive staff.
