Young’s Wine Rooms

Tonight was the third time I had been to Youngs since it opened. First two times I loved it. Tonight the food was good but the service was very ordinary. It’s like us being there was an inconvenience. Very disappointing.

EDIT - The friend who recommended recently returned and was so disappointed. The Prawn Linguine was unrecognisable, nothing like it was first time round. Slow service, sides arriving when mains were finished.

The food has always been great, but on a recommendation from a friend, we were told to go down for a meal. There’s a new chef doing incredible food.

They were right. The lunch we had surpassed all expectations. It was just amazing.

Hopefully that Prawn Linguine never leaves that menu!

If I was to describe in one word = Pretentious.

We only had the express lunch and glad we decided to try it out like this before deciding to try it out for dinner with friends. Safe to say we won’t be coming here with all the amazing choices around Camberwell junction.

The food was bland, trying to be something so creative but completely lacked even the most basic flavours. Presentation was nice but what’s the point when the taste misses the mark entirely. The biggest disappointment was the bisque.

The service was not the most pleasant, they noticed that we ended up ordering the same item twice (one from the express menu and one from the standard menu), yet they didn’t even try to tell us what we ordered was in fact the same item and maybe it was mistake.

We really wanted to like this place, it’s such a beautiful restaurant and after walking past it many times since moving to Camberwell, we were so let down by the high expectations we had.

We were the only two guests during the lunch time on Thursday afternoon.
Very good service, risotto is surprisingly delicious especially after I was told it's a vegetarian dish.

Service was terrible and rushed. Waitress had no interest in being there was only interested in getting us out from the beginning. Did not offer us dessert or for us to finish our bottle of wine at the bar just wanted the table turned over. Plenty of nice places to go to in Melbourne for that kind of money. Would not recommend. When I gave the feedback to the manager she did not seem to care.

Great atmosphere, great location and good service. First time we visited and went for our wedding anniversary dinner after covid lockdown, disappointed to say that we found scales in the tuna dish. Also, the bottle of Shiraz we ordered somehow changed to a Durif half way through dinner.

Great selection of wines and I asked for the recommendations of the staff who obliged brilliantly. Great atmosphere. Went alone for a couple of drinks and a small meal, had a great experience

Fantastic service! This place has a large wine list and although it’s on the pricier side every wine we had was delicious. Great food and flavours with good serving sizes. A wonderful attribute to the Camberwell area.

Beautiful food, wine and service was great! Will definitely be back. Can I please request Carlton Draught or Crown Larger to be added to the beer list? This will help entice a few extra attendees!

We had a brilliant dinner there. The service was exceptional, big call out to Monique for looking after us so well. Highly recommend.

Food was good. But getting food to the table was a real struggle. Painfully slow. Maybe a busy night?

Great decoration, service was a bit pushy with drinks, the man by the door told us to wait few minutes to acomódate us in one table (half place empty by 10: 30pm) so a bit funny. Then asking for next round even before finished the drink. Great desserts.

I was pretty impressed with the food and wine list, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Modern and casual atmosphere, will be back!

Tonight is my 3rd time here and yet again it didn’t disappoint. I celebrated my sons 13th birthday here and just shows that you can also enjoy an amazing night with kids here. The food was delicious and the service from our waitress could not be faulted. I have told all my friends to come here. Def 5 stars.

Dined here recently and the service and food was good. It was a shame we were forced to leave after a couple of hours due to COVID restrictions, which I accept as necessary. However, I'm still paying full price for everything but receiving a much less enjoyable experience. I'll try them again once they're able to offer a proper evening of dining.

Pretty expensive but fantastic wines, particularly the reds - we loved the sangiovese. Fun desserts too!

We took the feed me option for 4 people for lunch. The food was plentiful and varied and we all walked away feeling like we'd had plenty to eat without feeling uncomfortable. I would recommend the wine pairing option as well. Service was good and the decor and ambience made it feel like an upmarket experience. Highly recommend.

Loved it. Fantastic room, great food and attentive service - despite what other reviews say. I'm so pleased that there's a place like this in sleepy Camberwell. It's got a proper inner city feel to it. I'll be back again soon. Thanks.
