A wonderful tucked away spot, while you may find parking difficult on this busy road a small walk is well worth it, a perfect balance in taste and portion is what you will get in this small but vibrant atmosphere. The price is lower than what you would normally expect with food of this quality. Attentive staff and a fast kitchen pairs beautifully with the experience. I would highly recommend this place for either a solo expedition or an intimate one not for large groups. Either way you will leave with a smile and full stomach. Give the lychee Yokosade a go you won't regret it

Great little spot! Fanatic Japanese cuisine at a very good price. BYO was excellent for $10 as well. Service was very quick and friendly. Will be back soon for sure

Amazing food, place and service! Everything was incredibly well done and fresh. It was clear that a lot of pride was put onto each plate. One of the waitresses heard us drop a chopstick and came over to replace it without a word

This is a wonderful place to eat if you love Japanese cuisine. The Gyoza, Teriyaki chicken and the Mizo soup were phenomenal. Oh yes, the Sake was also wonderful. Highly recommended

If you are looking for that real Japanese authenticity then YoKoSo is just the place! Having spent some time in Japan this is as close as it comes to amazing Japanese food. From the moment you step in the doors where even the chefs and staff yell out their greeting even if they are cooking! You know your in for the whole experience!
Food? Do yourself a favor and just go. Definitely not a gamble with your money!

Yokoso is a Moonee Ponds neighbourhood gem. Many customers are addressed by name. We have been here a number of times over the last few years and every time we have been impressed with the quality of the food and service. There is a 6 and 8pm sitting. It is wise to book as we have often seen people disappointed as it’s regularly booked out.

The moment you walk in, there is a warm welcome of ‘Hajimemashite’ from the wait and kitchen staff.

It is a step above ‘ordinary’ Japanese food with the usual fare and some unusual dishes.

We had the Gyoza pork dumplings; ‘golden morsels’ which melted in your mouth.

We love the Yokoso King Crab Rolls which are pieces of crab rolled with avocado, carrot, daikon and mayo; a fresh and colourful dish.

We then shared the large sushi platter ($35) ; perhaps not as large as some restaurants but outstanding quality.

For dessert, we shared the citrus based pannacotta, decorated with a few strawberries; it cleanses the palate and so a lovely way to finish the meal.

We ate an interesting, well balanced meal.

There is a small wine menu which is reasonably priced or you can BYO for $10 per bottle.

Highly recommend for groups of 2 to 10; we’ll be back.

We have been to many Japanese restaurants, although nothing compares to Yokoso Izakaya. My fiancè and I spend most of our dinner dates here. The staff are very welcoming and the food is delicous and fresh!

Every single item in the large sashimi we ordered lacked flavour. Creating tasteless salmon, tuna and scallops is hard to do, I know but this restaurant has succeeded where others fail. The three of us were all stunned at this. I suspect all of it was frozen, defrosted and served during service. No sauce provided and they were even stingy on the very dry wasabe. Vegetable dumplings were not great. And if you like your food to come with attitude, one staff member in particular will oblige. I have tonnes of empathy for hospos and know how hard they work but this time it was just too much. Eaten here three times already and had take away twice and am now done.
