3/4 of my meal was missing. I ordered over 90$ worth of food and most of it did not arrive. Absolute rip-off.

On the bustling Mount Alexander Rd, sits the small and authentic looking Yokoso. Don't expect to have lots of room in here, but do expect amazing food and great service. From the warm salted edamame, to the plate of starters (including my favourite crispy Wagyu balls), sushi and sashimi and perfectly char-grilled Wagyu steak. My wife and I tried the Deluxe Banquet as we couldn't decide what to eat and were not disappointed at all. We will definitely be back.

Terrific food and awesome service. We tried the banquet to get a feel for a variety of dishes and it didn't disappoint! Will definitely be back.

This is the first time we been to this restaurant and my family are very enjoying it.
It is very Japanese style design restaurant, very simple and very cosy, the food is very nice, yummy, attention to detail but quite small portion. For my opinion it is abit overprice.
Ambience 5.5/10
Service 6/10
Food 8/10
Value? I think the price is overpriced with small portion eventhough the food is nice.
Will I come back? Maybe

Delicious dishes with impeccable attention to detail. Relaxed, inviting atmosphere. Quality menu with justified pricing reminds you you've been putting up with lower quality elsewhere because it is cheaper. Come here to rediscover Japanese cuisine done well.

Everything was amazing to the food and service. Atmosphere is comfortable, and the sake comes in a cute bottle.

Only major downside is the amount of food to the price paid.

30$ for only 5 skewers, 70$ for a few pieces of sushi. If we felt like we got better value I'd come back.

The sushi and quality are all amazing, the chef making the nigiris properly with the wasabi under the sashimi.

Would recommend if you're looking for a fun izakaya place, just be prepared to pay big bucks.

While we enjoyed most of the dishes we ordered from Yokoso Izakaya, some of the entrees were way overpriced for what they were. The mains were amazing, the Wagyu Udon, chicken curry and salmon steak were absolutely delicious. Had ton of flavour and the meat was cooked perfectly. Everyone were happy with the dishes. Whereas their rolls were essentially a sushi roll but three times the price, they tasted good but not worth the price. However the crispy Wagyu balls were amazing. I could have eaten that all night. I would suggest get the crispy Wagyu and the mains, skip on the sushi rolls. Also the staff were very friendly and accommodating when it came to dietary requirements.

Terrible experience. We rang ahead to make a reservation, told all was fine. Drove all the way there. When we get there they seat us and 5 mins later tell us that the reservation clashed with another previous booking. Ask us to get off our current table and shoved us on a tiny makeshift space which wasn’t likely to hold 2 dishes side by side. They had ample opportunity between taking the booking and our actually visit but didn’t bother.
We had driven all the way in and we’re starving so decided to get a couple of items at least. Food was very sub par as far as I was concerned too. Felt like they were rushing our order to just get us out of there. Just fell apart when picked up and quality wasn’t great.
People look forward to a meal and a few drinks on a Friday from working all week and to be treated so poorly was disappointing and not something you would expect in Melbourne. I can truly say the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Stay away from this place if you don’t want to be disappointed in both food and service.

It has been a while since we have been to Yokoso Izakaya. Food is great, especially the Waygu Beef. However, the service is nowhere near it used to be. It used to be a very friendly place and staff made us felt welcome. It would have been nice if the staff told us how to order our food or at least said goodbye when we left. Service doesn't have to be formal but some friendly gesture would have helped.

Second time coming here, the food is amazing! Their prawn chilli noodle teriyaki stir fry is a must!
Just personally didn’t like how we had 4 waitresses helping us instead of the 1

Changed owners?

We have been coming for years, almost always order same the dishes. Oily gyoza, sushi not up to usual standard. The beef tataki was almost as good as usual. Disappointing.

Really enjoyed the meal and service. There isn't a lot of space so I would suggest in current times to book ahead

It's called Izakaya, but actually a full on restaurant with some Izakaya food also on the menu. Great Japanese food. Well cooked and presented. Serving size is larger than average for a Japanese eatery especially considering price and quality, so may want to think twice before ordering the whole book.

In the mood for Japanese so takeaway @Yokoso_Izakaya where I got agadashi tofu, okonomiyaki, and teriyaki salmon steak with rice and steamed greens.

The agadashi tofu is lightly coated in batter and deep fried and when dipped in the soy sauce mixture is so delicious, the silky smooth tofu just melts in your mouth.

I love okonomiyaki and the first bite took me back to Japan. A lovely thick well cooked pancake with cabbage, the sweet BBQ sauce and slight sourness of kewpie mayo, Benito flakes, such lovely flavours.

The salmon is nicely cooked with a lovely teriyaki glaze adding extra flavour, especially when it drips and flavours the plain steamed rice. The rice and greens pair well to make this a lovely variety of dishes for dinner.

Delicious food and lovely people - we’ve been coming here since they opened 9 years ago and have never had a bad meal. Always top notch food and ambience. April and the team look after their patrons. Highly recommended! Thank you

Ordered a takeaway as we often do. For the second time they forgot key items we have ordered. This time we had two lots of Age Dashi Tofu, they didn’t include the sauce. When I phoned them up they said “oh well, sorry” and that was it. No refund for missing items or an effort to make this right. This is the second time we have ordered takeaway and they have items missing. Whilst the food here is good, the price combined with poor customer service means I will give it a miss from now on!

Some of the best Japanese food in town. A local favourite for years and a go-to takeaway during COVID times. Friendly service, good atmosphere and super fresh sushi, snacks and mains.

If you're okay paying $4 for store bought Miso and chicken curry you could make better at home with sashimi which is a few days old then definitely come here.

Service was great though.

I been there with wife. We really enjoyed all the dishes. We love sushi, sashimi and tempura. Was busy but food came very fast and fresh. Next time will try main dishes.

If you drive, better go after 6: 30pm. Before 6: 30 not allowed to parking on the street.
However after that all good.
All the staffs are very kind and friendly.
