This popular spot is good for a quick bite, serving hawker style Indonesian dishes. A sizeable menu ensures there's something for every taste bud. We had the Kwetiaw Goreng with prawns and chicken Mie Tek Tek. Both were very edible but just didn't stand out for us in any way, so the rating reflects this. Friendly staff and fast turnaround.

Tucked away in a small alley between Franklin and Abeckett St lies this modern-looking Indonesian restaurant. They have an array of dishes and all of them are great. The accompanying chilli sauces have a kick to it and perfect for chilli lover! The fried chicken can be a little juicier.

Im new to indonesian, and couldn't fault this place. Warmly greeted on arrival by the staff. Ordered the spicy beef ribs with rice it was great. Spicy and juicy beef.
Also the chicken noodle goreng which was packed with flavour. Salted egg fries were also a treat. I will come back to this place for sure.

I actually don't mind this place. So I took my partner here. And we had a pretty bad experience. They completely forgot to make her order. It wasn't even busy. Then they even started to clear the table while we still had an order number on the table. After a 45min wait we left. No refund was offered.

I love all the menus here, even though i did not try all of them but I can say that is nice. Friends of mine ordering their Iga and nasi goreng kampung. I ordered fried chicken with salted egg. And they put a sunny side up. Surprisingly is so so nice. Ill be back here for sure. Staffs are so much friendly here

Tasty Indonesian fusion with an air of home-made authenticity. Sambal has a real kick and the signature salted egg chicken rice was delicious.

My third time coming here, not because the food was amazing, but thought I should give them another chance by trying their other food. This time, we ordered very simple classic Indonesian food, so I’m expecting it wouldn’t go wrong.
I’m also Indonesian, so I know what good Indo food is.
We ordered nasi goreng kampung (fried rice) and bakmie ayam (chicken noodle).
I initially had the fried rice. Rice was wet and soggy.texture was bad.
Then, the noodle was super salty, I thought putting the soup would at least balance the taste, but it made it even saltier. Told the waitress that the noodle was super salty, only apologies, nothing offered.
The only reason I gave a 2-star is because I like their martabak. That’s it.

Maybe delicious but not for me. It’s too spicy.
Usually need to take the tableware by yourself.

Great authentic Indonesian food with some fresh modern elements that don't completely change the dishes. Highly recommended

Good place for Indonesian comfort food. I tried the salted egg noodle. Love the creamy salty sauce on top of the noodle. Got the better version of Indonesian choco pancake as well.

The salted egg noodle craze has made it to Melbourne and I'm all about it. As far as I know, Yoi is one of the only spots to try salted egg noodles as well as salted egg chicken and a few other novelty items. The noodles are spicy and perfectly salty and slightly creamy thanks to the yolk. They're topped with a fried egg and some sort of crunchy topping which complete the meal. The Gado Gado is a great accompaniment to add some freshness and counteract the spice. While salted egg is a big reason to visit Yoi, the desserts are also a huge pull. There are just two on the menu but they're available with a range of flavour combinations. I tried the spongy martabak with Oreo and cheese which is a unique and absolutely delicious flavour combo. Meanwhile, the Kaya roti bakar is a more traditional and equally as tasty option. On top of the great food, the service at Yoi is wonderful and the space is bright and comfortable.

Food is good here but some menu is not worth the price. Selling indomie for the price they do is just ridiculous

I may have found a new favourite cuisine - Indonesian! Really enjoyed our visit at Yoi on Franklin st! Let’s start with my absolute favourite Martabak pancake where the texture is more like a cross between cake and flatbread! Stuffed with Nutella and cheese I could eat this every day! The mains were just as delicious with beef rendang meegoreng and salted egg chicken ribs! We then washed it all down with a milo dinosaur and lychee tea! Can’t wait to revisit!

Being part Indonesian, coming to Yoi was very nostalgic and a bit of like coming home for me. The dishes take me back to homecooked meals from my relatives - particularly eating the soto, this might be an acquired taste but it’s something I’ve grown up eating. Highly recommend getting the salted egg with mie goreng and martabak with Nutella & cheese. My partner enjoyed the ox tongue with rice and the bubur pulit hitam. Food came out quick and service was great. Thanks for having us in.

We love the atmosphere, cozy and bright. The small table is perfect for two people and still a lot of room to put my pram. We tried the ayam penyet kremes and grilled beef ribs. They were very tasty and filling. We also had sweet martabak (thick pancake, stuffed with chocolate sprinkles and crushed peanuts), I have to say: the best I’ve tried in town. They are made to order, so always fresh. Be prepared for the wait, as it’s very popular and a lot of people order them. But I think we all can agree on ‘good things worth the wait’.
