Used to come here all the time a few years ago, it was excellent. Came on the weekend and it was average at best. Menu is the exact same without the passion. Service was lovely.

Food is good but be prepared to wait for a table. Most of the staff are quite friendly and helpful. Waited 15 minutes for a takeaway coffee once which kinda sucked. Good local cafe though.

Hidden gem in Footscray serving delicious brunch dishes and excellent coffee. It helps that the service is also friendly. Mac and cheese was excellent and still light to eat despite having 3 kinds of cheeses. The corn fritters are not overly oily and paired nicely with the smoked salmon.

We were expecting something better, based on the reviews and prices. It is a nice local cafe with friendly and attentive staff. The coffee was below average. We asked for cappuccinos and there was no froth at all (equivalent to a flat white). The food came out quick and the serving was generous! It was tasty, however some seasoning was missing from the corn fritters and the jalapeño salsa and avocado on the top made it soggy. The corn fritters were slightly under cooked. The poached eggs were AMAZING and cooked to perfection. Maybe consider food arrangement on the plate and adjust seasonings. We enjoyed our breakfast but we don’t think it was worth the money.

Dropped in for breakfast and ordered the brisket and hash browns with hollandaise and my god was it delicious. The cafe has a retro vibe with old ammo boxes to store the cutlery and napkins and the lights over the table reminded me of M. A. S. H.

Service was friendly and efficient considering that it was pretty busy.

Do yourself a favour and go to this place ASAP you won’t be disappointed.

A bit too eclectic in the menu offering (for my taste), friendly service. This may ruffle a feather or two, but, I could have got the same (tasting) burger and chips at the golden arches for half the money. Good coffee.

VERY HIT AND MISS in terms of staff customer service. Some staff can be very rude and act like they dont need your business. Space to line up to grab your coffee is very tight. As a customer if you do not know where your lining up, other residents here (and you get some rough footscray residents who seem to always have bad days) who are supposedly in the line will pass judgementally on you taking their spot when really you are also waiting to place your order.

I've previously had brunch here and enjoyed the meals however some dishes can be a bit strange.

We enjoyed our toasted ham and cheese croissants and the coffee was great, pleasant staff and relaxed setting.

Our favourite! Great customer service, great food, great vibe and great portion sizes. Plenty of free parking near by.

This cafe has been one of my favourites in the west for a couple of years. Coffee is consistently great, staff are friendly and helpful. The chilli scrambled is one of the best I've tasted in Melbourne.

Good coffee, interesting menu and plenty of seating. Dog friendly alfresco area and staff are very attentive.

Beautiful coffee, nice friendly service and good food, that pretty much sums up West 48.

We went there at about 10: 15am and could either wait for a table or sit outside. It was cold but sunny, so we chose to sit out. It was great because they got blankets

Hubby ordered the burger and I got the hotcakes. The kiddies got the most healthy option, which is the brunch bowl w chicken (could choose between chicken, smoked salmon or tofu)

The hotcakes was delightful, although I wasn’t 100% sold on the berries that came with it. It tasted like frozen berries.

The waiter knew I was getting the brunch bowl for kiddies and smartly checked whether we wanted to omit the wasabi. Good move! The kids loved their brunch bowl w fried chicken tenderloins, edamame beans, seaweed, avocado, Mayo and rice.

Our tummies full and caffeine cravings satisfied, we drove back home for a relaxing Sunday nap.

Cafe run by cool hippies, i don't know they if they are always high. I always find staff here with red cheeks and big smile. They serve fresh barista coffee and hot food. Interior is retro with a few bicycle rims without tires. Log of wood is used as chairs. They also have a few chairs for outdoor sitting. In summary a damn cool place with even damn cool staff, cooking amazing food.

Food and coffee was nice but portions are a bit small for the price. Only one egg and piece of toast for a breakfast dish at that price. Left me hungry.
Cappuccino would be better if just regular cocoa powder and not drinking chocolate was used.

This Café has character, and is thoroughly wholesome. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable even though the Café is full of life. The food is presented very well and tastes fantastic. The menu is accommodating and interesting, including in the drinks section. The barista who I had the pleasure of being served by was a proper professional and looked the part. If I may give one tip, I would change the hot chocolate they use. None the less, I highly recommend visiting this Café.

Good and helpful service. The waiter recommend great choice of food and based on what I see others got served, I am impressed. The food is good that is for sure. The price defs not cheap but it is a big portion for you to have.

I love West 48. The coffee is consistently, the baristas are so nice, food is lip-smacking good and Ian provides the best service I’ve experienced from a hospitality business. Ian always remembers people, their orders and goes above and beyond to make sure all customers are happy. This is why I will always keep going back to West 48.

The Egg benny is a top quality meal. Ian who looked after our table is a legend! The vibe, food and coffee is 10/10. Left happy and satisfied. LOVED IT!

Got there 45mins before closing on a Sunday. Sat outside with the blankets (!) Was a tad chilly.first coffee was very good, 2nd not so much, probably rushing to get out orders vefore closing. But enough to bring me back and the the food. Industrial styling - benches, booths and tables.

Superb. In a very cool popular cafe hidden away in the suburb of Footscray. You can tell as soon as you arrive that things are going to be excellent because place is very busy. The menu is excellent and innovative with lots of delicious options I choose the eggs Benny with bacon. My dining companion had the beef brisket and I was quite jealous because that looked amazing. Coffee is great and the ambience is very comfortable and relaxed. Looking forward to another visit here very soon.
