Walrus Chinese Restaurant reviews
64Great traditional Chinese food. The fried ice-cream was on fire, literally. The service was a bit slow but it was packed
Incredible authentic Chinese cuisine. Roast meats are bang on. Lobster, crab, fish and even vegetarian dishes are next level. How they execute 300 items on the menu still boggles my mind. They execute them with precision. 5 stars!
Very delicious, especially the fried chicken with salted egg, the fried rice and roasted duck tasted delicious, overall a good place to have dinner if you go earlier, it gets pretty packed quickly
Absolutely sensational a very family focused restaurant with large tables and lazy Susan’s. Mum has had a few birthdays her now) New Years day, what was her mum thinking)
Not the first time here. However, it seems the standard has dropped since I was here last. The dish that was most disappointing was Beef with XO sauce, the beef was way over cooked, chewy gum like. Also noticed the price for the main course is around $25 - $35 each. I feel they are on the expensive side. The two lady staffs that have been here for years still very friendly and helpful. Can't say the same with the others.
Good reliable Cantonese food.
I always go for the crocodile fry with ginger and spring onions. So nice.
Reasonable prices.
Reasonable range of beers.
Overpriced and sub-par Chinese food, clogged up bathroom and always busy but never available service. Do not waste your time (or money). You will be disappointed.
Terrible customer service, took way too long to bring a simple order out and the restaurant wasn't even busy lol
We had chicken ribs & veg stir fried for lunch, portion is really big 2 of us can not finish. The chicken ribs are the best! Highly recommended.
Overpriced food, service was really slow and we noticed that for some reason, many tables that got there after us had food come out for them first.
We had to wait over 40 minutes before our first dish came out, further 30+ minutes for the next 2 dishes and another 30 minutes after for the final 2 dishes. As a Chinese restaurant where dishes are shared and eaten with rice, it was a very poor experience to have the food not come out together and wait over 30 minutes in between.
We also waited over 10 minutes to have our table cleared as we wanted dessert. We tried to get their attention but we were ignored and watched as they cleared tables where customers had already left. On top of all this, they charge 2% credit card surcharge, which is most likely above what they are being charged by the banks.
This food was horrible - what sort of a Cantonese restaurant can't get Char sui right.
Worst place in Springy to eat. Ho larn sick.
We got sick after eating here.
Food was not that nice either
Extremely overpriced for rice, noodles and soup dishes.
Good mid-price Chinese restaurant with great food.
The service needs much improvement. They are grumpy and always seem to be annoyed when asked for things like a spoon for my young child. They have complimentary soup and dessert for those who are ‘in the know’, but reluctant to serve it. Maybe in hope that the customer would make the same mistake as me and pay for soup.
Will I still go back? Yes, and brace myself for the poor service in exchange for one of the best salt & pepper fried flounder in Melbourne!
Bad service. Waited 20 minutes for a seat, then waited another 20 minutes to be served. But didn’t get a waiter so decided to get up and leave.
Probably one of the most overpriced Chinese restaurant in the area. With an average price of mid $20 to low $30 per dish in Springvale, one would expect they would be better than an average Chinese restaurant. However, if you been to lots of Chinese restaurant in Victoria, or simply a food lover, you will be disappointed. The only saving grace is the decent size of each dish, unless you order a roast duck or something similar, they will undersize the serving on any roasted dishes.
Cheat! Ordered a special $108 one lobster, when it was brought on the table, no lobster head nor tail were seen. I supposed a whole lobster should have its head head and tail.
Average. Not bad not good. Lobster special currently. OX sauce pipi with Chinese donut and Beef lettuce fried rice was better than others. Price is OK. Will go back though.
They need to rethink social distancing within a table for covid safe. Everything else is good.
Very generous lunch servings. Dinner is always good. They did a recent reno which is a good change
Always check your bill here, they seem to often "accidently" miss calculate and adding extra dishes
