Walrus Chinese Restaurant reviews
64 Walrus is a very popular Chinese restaurant in Springvale with amazing food and service.
Its always busy, so always call to book first.
Best chinese food - always consistent and staff were super accomodating and helpful for our massive group 15+pax
All dishes r ok to eat but can’t say its great, we ask for 3 plastic takeaway containers for our left over dishes, they charged us $7, that is not reasonable at all! Other restaurants only charged 50cents or $1 each is the maximum.
Ok to eat but wouldn’t say it great, the worst thing is I ask for 3 takeaway plastic containers to take away my left over foods, they charged me for $7! No more going back because is not reasonable to charge $7 for 3 plastic containers!
Busy for Sunday, filled with local families. The highlight was the crab, it was tender and sweet. Egg noodles were cooked perfectly and flavourable.
Best eggplant dish I've ever had. I enjoyed all the dishes, maybe I should give 5 stars, but nothing besides the eggplant was outstanding to me. The crunchy fish and chicken spare ribs were good but I've had better.
It's ridiculous pricey for absolutely mediocre food!
Oh when it came to paying for the bill, the waitress purposely gave me all dollar coins even when they have float dollar bills, ignored my outstretched hand and left on the change tray, fully expecting me to leave a tip when customer service was poor! Cheapskate practice. Perhaps management should start paying staff living wage?
I brought my grandmother who looks like a walrus to this restaurant. Did not disappoint! Great food
Famous for its crab noodle, this resto is always busy. However on our few recent visits the quality of food seems deterioting much. While we like the noodle and Singaporean-style and ginger shallot sauces, the crabs were tasted not too fresh, the clam dish was way too salty. On this last visit we also found some metal (clip?) on the crab dish.
The service was almost non-existant as there were too few staffs.
Pricewise, not cheap. About $125 for crab dish, depending on the crab size.
Last note, this is the noisiest restorant I've been. The room accoustic is so so bad. It sounds like everybody was kungfu fighting there.
Needless to say, this is our last time visit. Never again.
Family been coming here for decades.
Never fails to impress.
Whether it's the Mud crab, salt and pepper chicken ribs or roast meats everything taste like home.
The duck and roast pork belly is to die for service is a little slow and not on the cheap side but for a special occasion it's good
Food was fine, but service was bad
Order slat paper carb but gave us slat paper chicken, told us no more carb! Ok that’s fine then we order steam fish, the fish goes wrong table! …….
At the end the slat paper chicken on our bill, what a nice service? !
If you order take away fish or seafood, Check the weight! Cheating customer! Never ever come back!
Very nice food! Good value of money. But there is no enough waiters. Need to wait long time for a query. And need to wait longer time for the food to be served.
A restaurant that's been in Springvale for many years (I first went in around 2005 or so), always consistently good.
Your typical Chinese restaurant though - subpar service towards Asians (better service for Caucasians), but I guess that's all part of the appeal / experience!
Prices are slightly a bit more than average then compared to other restaurants (this dinner pictured cost $190+ - mostly due to the fish), but it is what it is.
Would recommend the Clams in XO sauce, and Spicy salt and chilli chicken ribs.
Great lunch and dinner menu. Quality is above other restaurants in Springvale, but for a very competitive price
Such attentive service, such flavourful food.
Crab Noodle was the best I've had, here.
Deep fried ice cream was lit up and had a nice batter great to finish off our meal.
The food was average and the price seems quite steep considering that it wasn't that spectacular. Half the staff seemed friendly and the other half acted quite cold towards customers.
It was one of those late evening late minute dash for food for us and since we were near Springvale, we decide to give this restaurant a go. Pleasantly surprised with their service. Started off well with a warm comforting complementary soup (see photo) while the chef prepared our 2dishes. For a party of 3, we ordered the spicy chicken ribs and a mixed vegetable with tofu. (See photos). Both are promptly served right after we finished our soup. At the end of a filling dinner, we were treated with a red bean dessert. Will go back again with a larger group and try more dishes!
