A terrible experience for us. Afyer spending $850 for the room we were promised champagne on arrival which we did not, recieve, we were promised 2x queen size beds but we only recieved double beds, the pool was ery smelly and the restaurant food was very slow and tbe dinner food was terrible! HIGHLY NOT recommended!

Great family weekend break. Funky hotel not necessarily targeting families, but was very accommodating! We experienced the bar, restaurant (breakfast and dinner) and pool. All staff were very accommodating, from the chef making a special pancake order for the kids and the bar staff spending the time to check on hotel guests in what was a busy night. Keep up the good work.

Booked suite for our wedding day. Poor communication when reserving a suite within W employees. Communication was lost between the multiple people on duty and speaking to different people. Employees promising and e-mailing confirming requests, and then upon arrival, denied. Horrible service. Dining, when you order tea, you would think having a tea cup to drink out of would be handy? Not just the tea pot. Took our luggage up to check-in before arrival. Yet made us wait 30 minutes to prove our check-in. The room is lovely, service and care for customer, lack of empathy. Go somewhere else for costumer service. Many stunning suite around Melbourne with better costumer service particularly if you are pre-booking an event or wanting more than 3 people in a suite. Our request was not difficult to adhere to, which on the day, due to the lack of communication within the W Melbourne employees was difficult. Go elsewhere people.

Recently stayed here with my wife for a couple of nights over the weekend. Had the best time. Loved the facilities, swimming pool and both the Lollo restaurant and Curious Bar. I definitely would love to stay here again in the future.

Worst customer service team. Concierge does not communicate with each other. If you plan something prior to your visit, don’t expect anyone at the desk to know about it and they won’t even try to figure out what went wrong. Sorry only 1 of them asked what’s happening after way too long.
Supposedly a suite with a dinning table for 8 people and 2 bathrooms, has a maximum of 3 guests allowed in there. Even with multiple martini glasses and a well stocked bar they have a max 3 people limit to the room and strictly no parties. Even through it was discussed, planned and agreed upon 10 months prior that the room would be used as a bridal suite for 1 hour prior to the wedding reception starting, the couple even PRE PAID for a grazing board for 10 people and 2 bottles of Champaign (which they never received the champaign). … I am waiting for the bride and groom who booked the room to leave their review because they were treated worse and then to “compensate” was told they can check out 1 hour later the next morning. There is a drink cart at concierge and the couple who’s wedding day it was, who had to sit in the foyer and wait weren’t even offered a refreshment for the mishap and while they waited far too long to be allowed into the suite, the bridal party didn’t end up going in because they waited the entire hour and still the room wasn’t ready so we went to the reception to get a drink and one of them had to breastfeed their baby in the reception toilet. Rooms are great, beautifully designed. Staff need A LOT more training.

Great hotel, but I believe below what a W should be. Pool is great and warm enough. Lobby is more like a Four Points or Mozzy hotel level rather than a W.

Rooms are fresh, new and beautifully appointed. That said, there seems to be a missing element from a service standpoint. The staff consistently made my colleague and I feel unwelcome-failing to recognize Bonvoy status and repeatedly giving conflicting information as to what rewards we were entitled to. Every request was met with resistance, no matter how small (they wouldn't let us poke our heads into the bar to take a look around upon arrival, rejected our request to bring silverware to our rooms so we could eat our takeaway food). Would not stay here again based on the headache.

Expensive, but the most fancy place I've ever stayed. Clean & comfortable. Good service. Good location for walking around the CBD (we did a lot of walking!). We had room service for breakfast and it takes about 45 min, but the food was good & hot.

Very centrally located. Funky rooms but very nice. Definitely geared towards the hip and young crowd.

Great location and beautifully decorated rooms the only negative things were the bar fridge smelled like off milk and the room wasn't serviced after the first night (2 nights stay) they came to do it at 5pm but by then we were getting ready to go out so that was far too late. They were serving free champagne in the lobby on the friday afternoon which is a nice touch. Probably i would say 4.5 stars half a star off for each negative but add a star for the champagne. Very nice place and great location.

Really loved this hotel. The design is amazing — very chic and cool. The rooms feel so comfy yet incredibly now and stylish. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. Especially loved that the pool, steam room and fitness center are open 24 hours so I was able to have a good swim even with late check-in. The pool area is absolutely gorgeous. I just love sitting there soaking it all in after a few good laps.

Service was impeccable, from the start to the end. We went to the restaurant for our New Year dinner. It was incredibly extensive and was beautifully presented. Food was very tasty and varied. We really enjoyed the food and especially shouting out to Vandy and the team on that night was incredible friendly and professional. We had a very good night and memorable to start the new year with.

Thank you all and we will definitely will be back again soon!

Highly recommend W Melbourne. Funky decorated rooms and really comfortable bed. Highlight was the swimming pool and bar - having a cocktail whilst I swim was so relaxing.

One of the best luxury brands I have stayed in, service impeccable. Worth the price.
A place which combines the culture of Melbourne and Victoria with everything they do. The artwork in the rooms says it all.
The pool area is fantastic, great steam room.
A must stay in Melbourne.

Overall, the W Melbourne hotel falls short of true five-star standards. The location is good. The gym and swimming pool is small. The lobby is cramped and not easy to welcome customer pickup and drop off. Additionally, many standard hotel services are not available 24/7 but never disclosed on its website. It’s more like a service apartment than a formal hotel.
The hotel's interior design is impressive, but the functionality and user-friendliness are lacking. For example, all the lights are controlled by touching panels but they are hard to navigate and very slow responsive. In the dark you cannot even know how to turn on the bathroom lights.
Room noise control is ok because there’s no vent running in bathroom. Which also means the steams go straight into bedroom after shower.
Not much view from the hotel room as high buildings surrounding.
The use of technology is inconsistent, with personal check-in iPads disappearing during the stay and the check-out app not working at all. There’s no electronic curtain control. All they have is the Toto toilet.
This is definitely not the W hotel I stayed somewhere before. And I have to consider whether I still trust the W brand anymore with this experience.

A very dark and dingy hotel not suitable for families at all.they have an open bathroom which is impossible to use with kids.if they know guests are traveling with kids they should not recommend the rooms. Moreover being an international chain, it didnt have vegetarian choices in food.very bad experience. The hotel doesnt even provide travel adaptors.

Upon arrival, the lobby had a foul sewage smell lingering between the entrance and upto the elevators. This smell was there both days during our stay.

Room lighting was bad and the fact we couldn't control individual lights left us with either too much light or not enough.

Toilet and shower didn't have a ventilation fan, so bathroom was full of steam after a shower.

Room was very small and didn't have anything "5 star " about it. Especially for the price we paid. I'd value the rooms at only 300-400 per night. Nothing more.

On the positive side, bed was comfortable, Room and facilities were clean, and staff were great. Location is also a positive.

One typically would leave a review AFTER their experiences but I've decided to buck the trend and be a pioneer in being a pro-active hopeful. Although the decor is one of personal taste, the service that I've received thus far from David and all other W staff is similar and may be even better in some ways than other world class hotels that I've stayed at such as Aman or ones from the Relais and Chateau portfolio. Hence, my review less than 24 hours of my stay. David and the W staff was able to assist me in a time of great need and I dont expect this level of service to change.

I think 3.9 average is about right for this hotel. Pluses are the stylish decor throughout including the very bright and attractive pool area. The minuses are lots of annoying failures that top hotels get right. Foyer is too small, the concierge didn’t know what she was doing, no one answered the enquiry phone, coffee for delivery was going to be 45mins, pool bar was not staffed with no signs so guests had to enquire to find out it’s only opened on certain days etc. Having stayed recently at the Park Hyatt who have excellence in their service and systems I know where I would prefer to stay.
