Tyranny of Distance reviews
59Very low-fi bar, very friendly staff. Average age of the clientele was about 16. Music a bit louder than necessary. Downside? Minimum charge during Happy Hour is $20, which is kinda sneaky, and probably not strictly enforceable.
Plant based food to die for. (Please don't die, it's just an expression). Everything was absolutely delicious, the staff was very nice and attentive. The wait wasn't long and I was so excited about the food, I got a second main.
I ordered a mojito and it came out wrong. When I went to the bar to ask about it they yelled at me and said it’s not my problem, speak to the guy who made it. So I did, he tried it and said he made it wrong, and that he will ‘cut me a deal’ and said if I want a mojito, I have to pay another $18 for it or I can have the other drink (which he added lemonade to and tasted horrible still). All staff were so rude and unfriendly. At the end of the day I should have just got what I paid for.
Cool little place.
Great vegan menu.
The vibe might not be for everyone but if you àre into that type of scene it can quickly become a regular hangout spot.
Best to go during happy hour.
Tyranny of distance is a bustling bar/restaurant in Windsor. It is full vegan but you wouldnt know it just by looking at the menu.
We started off with the duck roti rolls and they were delicious. The flavours were spot on and it really captured the duck essence. Next up came the nachos, it was mountainous. It was loaded with plenty of guac and beans, one might say a tad too much beans. The super salad was again massive. Packed full of greens, seeds, vegan feta and even dried figs this salad was flavoursome and full of different textures.
The highlight was the Thai ramen, maybe more closer to a laksa. It was bursting with flavours and full of veggie goodness.
Service was great and friendly. Would definitely recommend the experience.
Minimum of $20 for EFTPOS made zero sense and meant that customers paid a huge surcharge to make that minimum if they had no cash. Bring cash if you only want to buy one drink at a time.
The atmosphere was nice enough in their beer garden though.
VEGANS - They have vegan egg, so you can make whiskey/rum sours and they’re GREAT. Very limited menu for food however, but Tyranny is a great place to go for 1-2 drinks before heading out for dinner. Can be a tad expensive, but it’s not absurd. The seating area is all smoking, so it can get a bit gross if you’re a non-smoker, but all in all its comfortable.
Interesting mix of customers.
Handy place to stop off on the way home after a hard days work
Five stars. I sent the korean bao to my meat eating friend as an april fools prank and he ate it happily thinking it was not plant based (it's that good). The staff were so helpful in arranging the order and adjusting the uber eats to make this work. Recommend highly to both vegans and carnivores alike!
Friendly staff, and the new all vegan menu is great, with many different options to share over a few drinks with friends
Great food! I was only able to eat half of the BBQ bacon cheese burger, but it was to die for. I got a side of mac and cheese, which was a bit dry, and mediocre. Had a few bites of the nachos, which were very good as well - good cheese sauce.
Unreal food from the new Vegan Menu last night- had the burger, tacos and nachos. I’m a meat eater who was accompanying my Vegan partner and it was still the best burger I’ve had all year. Everything else was great too- good staff, tunes and crowd. Cheers!
The happy hour deals are worth the trip every time! Always great vibes and the staff are awesome people. Definitely recommend
One of the best bars for value and vibrations on chapel. Great happy hours (4-7pm) and cool that there is smokers in an undercover/ outdoor setting.
Their happy hour is from 4 P. M.until 7 P. M.and includes spirits, wine, and beer for $4! Service is good. It can get very busy after 5 P. M.
Nice atmosphere and menu, however was surprised by poor bar service and a bizarre $20 eftpos minimum.
Absolutely lovely staff. Every single one has been so genuinely nice! Lovely chill vibes inside too.
Cheap drinks from 4-7, and you can smoke under cover, I don't smoke myself so it's pretty bad when it's packed but it's convenient for my mates.
Went for a late meal after a day trip and many places had stopped serving food. The service was friendly and attentive. I am a bit surprised that it's apparently been there 10 years! I guess I just never noticed as it's off the main road
