Tyranny of Distance

So this is a bar. I've never been to a bar where the booze was. Undrinkable. I couldn't drink the booze. I'm sure the bottled stuff is ok, but all the mixed drinks (or cocktails?) are like flat fizzy drinks. Man we couldn't finish them. They were deplorable. We've all been there - cheap dive bars, overseas bars in weird places, parties in derelict locations. This wasn't even comparable. Far out. It. Well just don't.

There is no place quite like it. Lots of great memories. Perfect for a date, catching up with old and new mates
The bartenders are chronically attractive
Give the plantain chips at try, they are bloody beautiful.

Super delicious food! Only complaint is they don't offer dessert (but hey, if you still have room, there's vegan dessert places on chapel, but you probably won't have room)

This bar is so great! The food is next level - all vegan, HUGE serves, super creative & ridiculously delicious! Happy hour drink prices make going for dinner here even better. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. A must visit.

I had a great time there with a group of friends. Only one vegan in the group but we all enjoyed our meals and were impressed by the flavour and presentation of the dishes.
Never thought vegan food could be so good!

I have enjoyed all the venues Carlo has had a hand in over the years, there is a special atmosphere that he creates that is quintessentially Melbourne, and Tyranny of distance is no exception, great food and I have always had excellent service, I’m old so yes the noise of the bar is too much for me, but the back room restaurant area is quiet enough to enjoy the food and conversation. I have no hesitation to go there any time and a good venue to impress interstate visitors.

My new favourite restaurant and bar in the area. Massaman curry with plant-based chicken is really hearty, fragrant and well balanced, not heavy. Warm service and wonderful ambience.

Used to love it here but when I came here last for happy hour the bartender staff and the door girl were extremely rude beyond belief, told patrons to get out if you didn’t have a seat and that “it wasn’t a charity”… one of the worst hospitality experiences!

Had a bad experience here! Some of the most rude and condescending staff including the guy at the bar and the girl at the door! Definitely won’t be back.

Great staff and great food every time I've been here. I've had everything on the menu and its probably my favourite restaurant! Happy hour is very nice too.

Had a lovely meal been coming for a while always getting great tips from the team especially Steph who always shows us the goods on the menu
