I have attended both the Cooking for Beginners 3 week course and am halfway through the Chef @ Home course at the Trupp Cooking School. After the very first beginners class I knew that I would sign up for the full Chef @ Home course as well. I found the format of the class to be ideal for my purposes and Walter is extremely flexible and accommodating, always happy to answer any questions even when these are off the topic at hand. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with the content taught in an accessible way. Both the beginners and Chef @ Home courses have had students of mixed experience, with good results. Classes begin with a discussion of that session’s key topics however questions are encouraged. While the discussion often veers into unrelated items, we always seem to cover the full content and before you know it, you are rolling up your sleeves and cooking up that evenings food. I’ve learnt to always come to class with an empty stomach and a takeout container. No one ever leaves hungry. Between each class I make sure to have cooked something from the previous session and make a note of questions for Walter at the next class in case any dish didn’t go perfectly at home. I’ve cooked my first risotto, made my own stock, sauces and more. From the materials given out in each session, I have amassed at least a hundred recipes and I’m working my way through cooking as many as possible. The classes focus on teaching cooking skills and techniques rather than recipes and I have been able to apply these skills to cooking in general rather than focusing only on particular dishes. I cannot recommend the Trupp school highly enough, it’s been wonderful. The only downside is that I’ll eventually run out of classes to go to. Also my Wife now refuses to cook at all.

It’s all the inside secrets and hints and tips you can’t pick up from recipe books that makes this such a fantastic experience. Thanks Walter for a great session on French cooking.

I’ve now done 5 of Trupp’s courses and cannot recommend this cooking school any more highly. The course provides hands on learning, but it’s not just the course, it’s the knowledge that Walter shares. I’ve learnt new tips & tricks, as well as learning about new ingredients, how to prepare them and how to buy the best quality. The courses have inspired me to cook new things, taught me new skills and every course has taught me new recipes and techniques that I use each week.

A Fantastic experience easy to learn and have fun. Our whole group enjoyed the diverse food that we made and enjoyed eating it in the dining room.

The equipment is excellent and plenty to go around, lots of options and very fun.

Chef Trupp good sense of humor and helped out all participants whether they had little or a lot of cooking experience.

I have attended the 'cooking for beginners' course during June-2019 and I am attending the 'Chef @ Home' course during Jul-Sep-2019. Walter Trupp is awesome guy with a lot of knowledge and a lot of patient for his students.
You can tell Walter loves what he does.
The skills you will learn from this school are practical and helpful.
I highly recommend this cooking school to anyone who is looking to beef up their cooking skills and their culinary knowledge.

I had a fantastic time attending the French cooking class at the school. Learned a bunch, cooked some amazing food, had a great time with the other students and Walter. Thoroughly recommend the school to anyone looking to bring a bit more variety to the table- I'll be there again in November!

An excellent Saturday session, experiencing 'street food' cooking which was performed in a welcoming and relaxed environment. Would recommend as a cooking experience.

Walter is a professional with a huge amount of cooking knowledge and patience. He's also a lovely guy who brings a warm and relaxed energy to the space. Not only did I improve my cooking skills as someone who already knew the basics, but I learned a lot, made friends and thoroughly enjoyed myself as well. I can now cook quickly and better, and I understand what I've done wrong when I've made a mistake. I can also sharpen my knife and de-bone a chicken like a pro! I understand food and it's relationship to health on another level as well, which is very valuable to me. It goes without saying, I highly recommend the school.

Celebrating a 25th birthday with a 3 night introduction to cooking class led by Michelin Chef Walter Trupp.

Such a fantastic way to learn in a well equipped sociable, enjoyable setting. This is not a demonstration. We learned knife skills, entrees, main and deserts; food safety, cookware selection, great commonsense and what to look for in recipes and bloggers.

We made a sit down, 3 course dinner each night for 12 with minimum 4 mains, 5 deserts and delicious wines.

My daughter summed up when she looked up from food prep middle of the second night-night, and said "Best birthday present, ever, Dad"

Unanimous applause from the whole group every night. I'll be back.

My photos don't begin to do it just. I was having too much fun.

Oh, and I asked for no mustard food safe mayonnaise? That turned into mayo 4 ways in 15 minutes. All delicious.

Thank you Walter.

Having just completed the Chef at Home Cooking school in Feb 2019 I cannot recommend it highly enough. Over the course of 4 months we covered off the essential components of cooking across Knife skills, to Poultry, Meat, Salads and Desserts (to name a few). Walter's knowledge across every aspect of the food industry is astounding. Every class was hands on and the tips and techniques i have picked up has already elevated my cooking to a level i couldn't have dreamed of. (Which my friends and family are now reaping the benefits of!)
