Tookaiya Japanese Cuisine / Tokaiya reviews
56Order a Keisen in the bottom of the plate had a bed of very burned onion therefore everything was testing very bitter including all the seafood. Bad experience
Great restaurant with a variety of delicious Japanese dishes served by very friendly and attentive staff. Shashimi was fresh and the meat was cooked perfectly. They have a good range of Sake, beer and Japanese desserts too. Had a nice vibe and the place was well maintained. Highly recommend this place!
Great food and service. Priced well. Chicken Terriaki was delicious tonight with loads of sauce. Love this place. We are regulars.
Wasn’t overly impressed. The food was good but not fantastic and the service was very slow. Would I go back? Unsure, certainly not in a hurry.
There are SO many better Japanese places nearby (e.g. Wayo). Poor service, and the seafood isn't fresh (it's cooked from frozen). Chicken teryiaki was a bit dry, with not enough sauce to cover the rice. I understand at the time of writing this they have a 4.3 rating but I simply cannot see how. Go somewhere else.
A great place for authentic style Japanese if you're in a hurry. Will be our new regular for Friday night takeaway. Best is the west!
This place though quiet for a Friday lunch had gear food. I had assorted sushi plate, And fries o tipus as a starter. For lunch a bowl of great miso soup was supplied as well. Though moderately. Pricy, well worth the money.
Impressive decor, very fresh ingredients, excellent food, good service. The only thing I’d say is the tables are a little too close together. Not uncomfortably so. Just enough for it to feel a little too close. But the food is great.
The Japanese food here is very authentic a little bit disappointed they didn't have Katsu curry however the sushi was phenomenal and made up for it!
Pretty packed place and would advise reservation. Did a walk-in and while they managed to squeeze a table, had to chomp up in 45 mins for it was reserved. Nevertheless orders came quick and surprisingly very fresh sashimi platter although only 4 types of variety. No time to digest the food let alone enjoy but will go again. This time will make sure reservation is made.
Tried to make a phone order and was spoken to so rudely and yelled at for calling the cooked tuna roll sushi at the top of his voice he said we don't not call it that! But on the menu is says from the sushi bar and I'm pretty sure rice and seaweed together has always been called sushi! So arrogant and nasty will be spending my money somewhere else.
The food is "correct" but not impressive.
We went there and the restaurant was full and very noisy.
Very good Japanese for the area. They do take away but I wouldn't recommend - food is much better dine in. Prices are reasonable if a bit on the higher side for the venue.
Great food. Always consistent. Not sure how authentic since I've never been to k
Japan, but really tasty and decent portions.
Amazing food, very attentive staff. Best Japanese meal that we have had in a loooong time. We will be back often.
Very nice decor, friendly efficient staff. Food was ok, but missing something in the flavours. The sauces were bland. The Yakitori sauce was more like a gravy. A mix of Chinese, Japanese, and Australian in style and taste. If you have been to Japan, the food at Tookaiya does not remind you of it.
