Tokyo Tina reviews
78 I booked the private room for a significant birthday.
Wow!
Correspondence prior was wonderful and allergies catered for.
The set menu was amazing, guests were very impressed and vowed to return.
The choice of beverages was excellent and the service fantastic.
I’m so happy I chose to experience this and would highly recommend Tokyo Tina.
The udon broth was literally just sesame oil. The pork belly was impossible to cut with the knife they gave us. So disappointed.
Would give this a 0 if I could. This place was so disgusting, I was truly shocked. The udon broth just tasted like sesame oil, the tempura vegetable in that same udon was filled with more oil as if the oil in that udon wasn't enough. The DIY pork belly bao was extremely hard to cut since they didn't even give us a sharp knife to cut into the pork belly. The kingfish sashimi was extremely thickly cut so the sauce didn't really get soaked in (therefore flavourless). They charged us so much for this and I don't think it was worth it, poor value here.
Very confusing concept. "Tokyo" Tina but sells kimchi gyoza and bibimbap and porkbelly with bulgogi sauce? I would say this is more of an asian-confusion restaurant than a Japanese restaurant. The pork belly for the bao was difficult to cut: (. Plus the udon broth basically tasted like sesame oil and spring onions, nothing rich: (. The duck was food but again its not something I expect from a "Japanese restaurant".
Walked in hungry and walked out hungry but with $80 less money.
It’s a bar with expensive finger food. Not a restaurant.
This place is unreal. Everything is good but the absolute best dish is the eggplant. Even if you’re not an eggplant person, you need to try it. I want to eat this meal for every meal for the rest of my life. It’s crispy and sweet and salty and just perfect.
Tokyo Tina has to be one of the most reliable foodie joints in Melbourne. Greta vibe, the staff are always chill, upbeat and attentive. The food is delicious and a great price point. Not to mention every cocktail I have, is always bang on - especially the yuzu sour.
I don't normally leave reviews but the food was extremely disappointing. We've had tastier food at casual eateries for a third of the price. Eggplant too sweet. Tuna lacking salt. Rainbow bowl is a sub-par version of a poke bowl. Unfortunately the worst dining experience I've had in Melbourne.
I had heard about this sensational Melbourne eatery and wasn’t disappointed. From the initial greeting to table service and bloody delicious food, the entire experience was 5 star!
We were very disappointed with our experience at Tokyo Tina. As a party of 7 we had to have a banquet meal. There were a variety of dishes that didn't suit our dietary requirements and the substitutes were not of an acceptable standard given the price we paid. Also, the waitress did not adequately inform us of the substitutions prior to serving and there were ingredients that we couldn't eat and one dish was particularly spicy. The response we received was not customer friendly. We will not be returning in a hurry.
We had such a great experience! The waiters are all polite and very attentive. We asked about the wall art to one of the guys and he told us all about it (super cool!). The dishes were all very flavoursome. We had the tuna nori and the spicy edamame to start off with-both super yummy; followed by the eggplant and prawn bao’s, which were ok. Then we had the rainbow bowl which was the highlight, such amazing flavours pulled together amazingly! Def recommend!
We went Sunday night and the service was excellent. All very tasty but the eggplant was a standout.
These guys were amazing and so accommodating. I had made a booking for me and my partner to celebrate our engagement and we rocked up at around 6pm on a Friday night, only to realise that I stupidly booked for the Saturday. But luckily there was still a table available for us and the staff were super nice about the mix up. The food and drink were amazing, such a great experience. I tried to cancel my original booking so that I wouldn’t incur the no show fee on my card, they called me back the next day saying that was all fine and congratulated us again. Definitely coming back again!
Best eating out ive had in ages. Amazing flavours, lovely staff and great service, iys no wonder its hard to het a booking
I’ve been going to Tokyo Tina for over 5 years now. The food is always on point!
Our waitress was ridiculously AWESOME! She was attentive, accommodating, bubbly and pretty darn perfect. We had an amazing evening. Thank you to the entire TT team. Can’t wait to come back again
Japanese food with a twist? ! Came to try after the many reviews. We ordered the crispy corn balls (ok), salmon tartare (nice!), kingfish sashimi (not bad. More of a carpaccio than sashimi), okonomiyaki (nice! No resemblance of the real thing but nice! Could taste the okonomiyaki but in a different style), plus a side of wongbok.
Love, love the interior! Great and attentive hosts.experience.
Loved it!
We did bottomless brunch for my hen do and the staff were great!
Val is the queen of bingo! And Michael the waiter was super efficient and nice!
THANK YOU!
Hosted my 21st birthday at the Tokyo Tina private dining room and safe to say, it was fantastic! All my friends loved the food, the atmosphere and the service. The confit duck was a hit as well as the tuna on toasted sushi rice. Mitch and Oli, our servers, were so awesome and made the experience so fun and special. Will definitely be back for more food, bevies and fun!
Hired Tokyo Private for my birthday and it was amazing! Heidi and the team killed it with the service and the food and drinks were phenomenal! Plus the karaoke in the room itself made it that much more fun!
Tokyo Tina is a somewhat cheaper alternative to Supernormal. Unfortunately, we have been spoiled by Supernormal. Every dish we had in Tokyo Tina were screaming to some flavour and seasoning. It was very "ok" with every dish but having to especially pay $30 for one small piece of bland short rib between two people was sad. I will not be returning.
