Tokyo Tina reviews
78Walked by this restaurant the other day, and reminded me how much it has changed since the first time we dined here. The food quality remained great, and the ambience kept you wanting to stay long after you finish dining
Fantastic venue for your next staff function. We hosted our Christmas Party in the dining room and everyone enjoyed the night including the fabulous food and delicious drinks. Karaoke was a fun way to finish the evening.
Wow! Really lives up to the hype! The food was unreal and Shannon our server was so wonderful. Definitely will be my new go-to on Chapel
Had a great night in the Karaoke room celebrating a friends birthday. Great food, good service.
Got the salmon bowl, miso ramen and eggplant. Eggplant was the crispiest I had in a long time! Salmon bowl had good variety and texture. Miso ramen was solid. Dessert was interesting but a bit small! Will definitely be back
I remember coming here about 9 or so years ago and really enjoying the vibe and the food, albeit a bit expensive at the time. Having recently revisited, the pricing now seemed more reasonable in line with inflation, and was delicious! Great service, and the atmosphere was vibrant even on a rainy Wednesday evening. A chapel St staple for good reason.
Bottomless brunch aka Bingo academy is so much fun! Great value, plenty of delicious food, the drinks were flowing, the team are so lovely and attentive. Not to mention the bingo! What a vibe. A must whether you’re in a group or only 2 people.
Food is simply incredible. YOU MUST GET THE EGGPLANT. Best Japanese inspired food we have ever had. We asked to meet the chef and complimented her on her amazing talent. Just perfect.
Every dish a delicious winner, staff friendly and laid back - Tokyo Tina never disappoints!
Last night my Girlfriend and I walked in without a booking, the host was prompt to find us a table at the bar.considering how busy it was the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive, bearing in mind that I had been at Tokyo Tina a couple of times in the past and I didn't expect much.but no, this place has excelled in every aspect.the food was perhaps the best Japanese fusion I've ever had and I'm a really fussy eater! Both cocktails we had were out of this world, I wish I wasn't driving afterwards to smash the rest of that scrumptious list, prepared by two well presented and polite bar tenders, both female waitress were efficient and helpful when we ordered our food and when received it. Literally I couldn't fault anything, it wasn't cheap but it was worth it. Thank you Tokyo Tina.
My partner and I went for brunch bingo which was 78$ per person including unlimited drink choice of champagne, Aperol spritzer and beer. I was surprised that the food options where not also unlimited and even with two people you only get to choose 3 entrees (which are small) and 1 main to share. Even the main portion was small and not enough for two people with 2 hours worth of drinking. Side note; The entertainment was fun so it made up for the portion sizes
The food was decent, it is more of a fusion of Japanese, Korean and Chinese with a lot of Korean ingredients such as kimchi and gochujang, Chinese items such as bao buns. It was all decent and tasty. Standouts were the kingfish sashimi, karaage and the sticky crispy eggplant. The steak was well cooked and a very generous serving.
The karaage was not traditional but still tasty, however I would have preferred the chicken marinated in soy sauce and ginger (the authentic way) rather than buttermilk, but the 5 spice dusting was a nice touch.
The salmon tartare was nice and fresh but a little lacking in taste. Mixing it in the kingfish sashimi sauce improved it greatly.
Now on the downsides. The service was what I expected in a place such as this - the food was slow to come out, the server was slow to take orders, (but all too happy to ask us several times if we were good for drinks every few minutes) and it just had that "too cool for school" vibe that a lot of these types of places have. We had young kids with us and whilst they were well catered for, the slow pace in which the food and dessert came out was excruciating.
The music wasn't that great either. For a Tuesday night, they were pumping the hip hop with explicit lyrics (kind of a a juxtaposition with the Japanese theme) but anyway. If that's your thing then go forth and try it.
Loved it! Staff are so friendly and food was full of flavor. If you’re ever dining here, be sure to get there fish dishes (kingfish etc) AMAZING!
This was my last night in Australia and thank goodness we came across Tokyo Tina. This was my favourite meal in Australia, everything about the restaurant was incredible.
The furnishings were so sophisticated and quirky. The music was amazing (I want their playlist) with a mixture of things like Tom Misch and Jordan Rakei. The staff were honestly lovely and gave the perfect level of service (they were there but not too much?). The cocktails were gorgeous, I got the ginger margarita and my friend got the rum one - both of which we could’ve drank gallons of.
Then the food. Dear LORD. As veggies we got basically everything on the menu. The pickled cucumbers were tangy, refreshing and crunchy (I could’ve had one of those between each dish). The eggplant was to DIE for, even if you’re a meat eater you have to get this, it was such good value and all the flavours beautifully combined. The cauliflower and broccolini were both flavoured beautifully and charred.
Honestly just go and order the entire menu. Worth EVERY penny.
Had the best time at Tokyo Tina’s bottomless bingo. It was such a fun afternoon… pumping tunes, amazing atmosphere, delicious food and drinks and hilarious antics by Val. Loved every second?
Hits the mark every time. The sticky eggplant is insane! This is my go to when I have friends or family visiting from out of town and want to impress with something reliable, affordable and delicious.
Sticky eggplant is amazing. We had vegan and premier menus and both were fantastic! Highly recommend.
The food was amazing but even better was the service.
My wife booked it and there was constant communication to make sure everything was ready and we had everything we needed. The staff were awesome on the night too and everyone thought they were fantastic.
The food was delicious and the 50th birthday party was a hit!
Very confusing concept. "Tokyo" Tina but sells kimchi gyoza and bibimbap and porkbelly with bulgogi sauce? I would say this is more of an asian-confusion restaurant than a Japanese restaurant. The pork belly for the bao was difficult to cut: (. Plus the udon broth basically tasted like sesame oil and spring onions, nothing rich: (. The duck was good but again its not something I expect from a "Japanese restaurant".
Great little spot for drinks and small bites. The food maybe a little on the exxie side, but the food delivers with flavour and great taste. The drinks are the standouts here; excellent cocktails and Japanese beers. Service was good.
