Tien Dat Restaurant reviews
80I crave this place, like literally dream of it. It’s the Best of box hill and that is saying something. The spring rolls, Bun, honey chicken and spicy squid are out of this world. Fresh fresh fresh! Aromatic and flavourful all around. You can’t miss with tien dat
Nice but they could really benefit from adding some more vegetarian options especially for their soups. They’re excluding a large part of the population, if I wasn’t meeting people here I wouldn’t of come purely due to the lack of vegetarian options. Also overpriced drinks. ($8 for a lemon lime and bitters)
The food was fine but the thai milk tea was so disappointing, $7 and clearly just one of the instant ones from the supermarket, no flavour just sugar & the pearls were powdery and raw in the middle, don't waste your time on the bubble teas.
We’ve been here again and again since the first try and they were always cool.
The foods and drinks are delicious af and their young staff were super helpful as well!
I swear TD is the best place in town for Viet and other asian fusion cuisines, NO CAP.
Can't say I could see any onion, let alone bean shoots in Bún $18.50 #falseadvertising
Cup was dirty, looked to be some residue, that was stuck on, I did however remove it with my nail. For an establishment that is mostly serving westerners = higher price point, would expect a higher standard of cleanliness.
Wow how rude
The food was great BUT at 9 pm they decided the kitchen was closed we had arrived for dinner at 7.30 as booked
We had only just finished our food and on went the music obviously to get rid of us
The table next to us were still eating and stared at us in shock then started laughing at how ridiculous this treatment from the staff was
If course we got up and left as the deliberate attempt to get rid of us worked
I will never go back or recommend this place
IT WAS JUST RUDE
There is a very friendly and lovely chinese restaurant next door
Go there
Had the rare beef pho. 18$ for a small bowl with a very small serving of rice noodles. Here's the thing, the noodles is actually really good but it was ruined by the small pittance of noodles they provide. Rice noodle is so cheap, it boggles the mind they would skimp on that to save a few cents. I ordered 3 and none of us were full.
Favourite restaurant. Fresh, tasty food and great service. Try Hanoi spring rolls, spicy fish or calamari. Actually try anything, it's all great.
I always order the same family favourites from Tien Dat and pick them up as we are close by. Always ready on time and delicious. Great value for money. They use cardboard packaging for many dishes which is also great.
Wow.so hit & miss! Some of the food was absolutely delicious and some not so much - like my Squid with Lemongrass, chilli & Basil - sounded fantastic on paper but that expectation didn't make it to the plate - the squid was chewy and the flavours just didn't bond. Service was a MESS, they were nice/courteous enough but we had several dishes brought to the table that we didn't order and some of the mains took what seemed forever to arrive - after others at our table had completely finished their mains.
Haven't been to Tien Dat for about 5 years. I remember the days of superb desserts - sorbets.and a 'do it yourself' rice paper and Vietnamese meatball dish. Tien Dat has changed a lot. Chicken stir-fry was just okay - pay extra for cashews? Strange.
A nice little Viet restaurant with comforting pho and broken rice. Staff are friendly and helpful. I'm a frequent here when I'm around the area. Recommend.
The Pho has always been good and most of the other dishes taste great. The location is nice if you can get a table. Service is generally good, but you’ll occasionally have a mediocre experience.
Yummy food and wonderful vibe. Some girl staff needs to be trained more to be friendly and heart-welcoming.

We ordered a beef noodle here. A little expensive for what you are getting. Taste is okay but a little salty.
Portion is too small, soup is too salty, and too oily. A lot of room to improve. Décor was nice, staff was attentive, but lack of experience.
The food was ok. I feel it's overpriced for the quality. Charged me for a container to take my food home. I didn't even know I was being charged until I got the bill. Definitely never come here again.

This place is amazing.
I’ve been going to Tien Dat for well over 10 years. We go there for family dinners with my Dad. There are so many restaurants in Box Hill and I don’t want to try any of them. This was the first place my Dad took me to in Box Hill after he moved there and I love it.
It’s always busy. It’s got an upbeat bustling and lively feel. It’s over 2 floors. The wait staff are just lovely. We always get a friendly welcome. Service is always efficient.
The menu has a range of different dishes providing a good variety of Vietnamese meals to choose from. I intend on working my way through the menu items but every time I get there I can’t say no to the Noodles (Bun) with lemongrass chicken, salad and chopped spring rolls. It’s my weakness. So good. My Dad has had heaps of things in the menu and he’s crazy about all of them. My partner is a bit of a picky eater and even he manages to find something he enjoys.
The price point is really great, too, which makes it budget friendly.
Just be organised and on time. They are so busy they book at least two sittings to each table. So when we went last we were booked for 6pm and had to be out by 7.30pm. We were late to arrive and still eating the last of our meal at 7.30pm. They were really good about it: didn’t kick us out. We were out by 7.40pm. I wouldn’t have pushed it though. I know from so many visits over the years that they always have the next guests ready for the table as soon as it’s available. I also suggest booking with as much notice as possible, especially for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
We love the place.
