A hidden gem. Hainan chicken rice that is not oily. The rice is fragrance with ginger and not soaky. The chicken breast is succulent. Hainan chicken rice deserves its "signature" label. And it is $18-$19 for this dish. It is a great value for its quality.

Three roast is tasty. Crispy pork belly is very nice. Crackling skin and meaty chunk. The skin of roast duck is very crispy. Char chicu is al so good.

The service and ambiance is very nice. Highly recommend.

Hiramasa Kingfish Sashimi with Assam Flavours: sliced hiramasa kingfish, pineapple, lemongrass, ginger, tamarind, shrimp paste, sesame oil, served with cucumber, green papaya, mint and chilli ($22.00)
Vegetarian Spring Rolls (vg) : taro, mung bean, yam bean, carrot, mushroom served with sweet chilli ($12.00)

Mee Goreng Mamak: Wok tossed Hokkien noodles with tomaro, tofu, bean sprouts, calamari, prawn, fish cake ($19.00) (we got this vegetarian)
Mushroom Truffle Fried Rice (v) : assorted Asian mushrooms, jasmine rice, egg, Itlian black truffle oil, butter (large, $38.00)

Spent $47.67pp between 3, including 1 mocktail.

REVIEW:
The best food from our meal was the vegetarian spring rolls. Airy outer crust, and a delicious flavourful inside is a successful snack filled with texture and joy. Can't recommend this enough!

Had elements I disliked from every other dish though. If I rattle off a bulletpoint list:
- Hiramasa Kingfish didn't absorb any of the "assam" flavour. Tasted like plain kingfish, and relied on the green papaya to really absorb the sweet and tanginess to bring interest to this dish. When the main ingredient doesn't shine, it's a NO from me.
- Singapore Chilli Jaffle only tasted of the sweet chilli. It's literally biting into a crunchy jaffle of sweet chilli. Couldn't taste the sweetness of the crab, or the saltiness of the mozzarella cheese .
- Mee Goreng Mamak had some suspicious hints of curry, rather than the soy sauce flavour I was looking for.
- Mushroom truffle rice was oily and flavourful, but note that a large is more suitable for 4 people MINIMUM if you're having entrees.

Unfortunately, more food misses than hits at Tian 38 for me. Service was nice, and atmosphere very chic and modern but not planning on coming back here.

Food is a hit and miss. Some good dishes and some poor dishes like the eggplant and jaffle.

Same with staff.

One very friendly and happy waitress (long black hair tied up) amongst a bunch of okay staff but there was a stand out rude cant-be-bothered waitress that served us.

Our drinks were also left sitting on the bar for a good ten minutes despite reminding her about it.

Nice cosy place. Lots of people but still feel spacious. Delicious food with great friendly service. My fav were the roast platter, vegemite rendang and kung po cauliflower. Really tasty! Definitely recommend.

Came here for lunch by myself, after hearing a few positive review of their chinese roasts

The roast was ok but the (chicken) rice is way to moist to the level that went you put a spoonful in your mouth, it is like a paste.

The roast duck was good, but part of the skin fall off, so probably better chopping skill haha, roast pork was nice and crispy, but bbq pork was only ok. And it comes with an egg as well. Overall, they were good but nothing extraordinary

Lunch price for the 3 combo roast with rice is $23, a bit higher than the usual Chinese bbq place but I guess reasonable considering the environment and location and you can try all 3 of their roasts at once with that price.

Though considering price, they should work on some of the detail.

When I got their I was told the last seat was taken by the person in front of me and may have to wait for 20mins which is fine, so I put my name down and went for a coffee and came back.

However, when I got back I was put next to the person who were in front of me, which the seat was empty/available when I initially got there, so why make me wait for 20mins? Also there were other empty seats after I sat down and looked around, not sure were they reserved or cause I was a single person.

Anyway I don’t mind sitting at counter or bar seats, but it wasn’t just the counter it was their cashier. Not a great place to eat when people would pops up behind you and start talking over your shoulder to pay for their bills.

Though the staff who took mine was attentive and professional. And the bar staff was nice as well when I ask them for some ice for the water.
(This can be a bit skeptical but considering their market position and the price, you should expect them to have filtered water or at least iced but no)

Quickly finished my meal and leave.

So one star for the roast, one star for the environment and one star for the staff who took my order.

Food was good.but staffs need training how to treat customers.courtesy and all.the Indian looking guy in white shirt is the friendliest and polite one.

Great atmosphere and overall vibes. Service was fantastic, and the food was even better. I recommend making a booking rather than walking in, this place is packed on nights - and I understand why.

A lively and popular Asian restaurant in the CBD. We booked a table and utilised Liven voucher. It was after lockdown, so most of the staff were new and service was lacking. We were seated in one of the coves which felt quite stuffy. However, the food was very nice and well made. The taste and quality was up to our expectations, with the roast meats being a highlight. Would recommend it for Cantonese cuisine.

An epic food journey with some stellar dishes across the menu. The Jaffles both crab and tofu are a perfect way to begin. The satay cooked perfectly with arguably one of the best peanut sauces around town. The chilli chicken that is found in the starters is a mind blowing flavour packed plate of happiness that should be accompanied by the Garlic rice for optimum pleasure. The Angus beef noodle dish is also excellent in its own right. What makes the restaurant an absolute winner is that with the exceptional food is the friendly staff that make the stay pleasurable and make you want to return.
If you are after a nice calming non alcoholic beverage for the evening, the signature "yuzu and honey" drink will hit the spot.

Cancelled my order. Money will take days to refund. Unacceptable.

Edit: on response below. It wasn’t in Easi. The app said I needed to edit my order because you didn’t have the items advertised. I edited and after another 5 minutes of waiting I got another notification saying the restaurant has decided to cancel my order after taking my money.

Great service and the place is nice too. It's pretty but not too luxurious that you feel uncomfortable.

Food is a little too sweet for my palate. We ordered the chilli crab jaffles, chicken rice, and mee goreng. The jaffles and mee goreng were slightly too sweet, chicken rice is good.

Price is on the higher side but understandable considering the place and service.

First and last time eating there. Overall, a rather poor experience. The host wasn’t wearing a face mask and check our vaccination status as required. We waited 15 mins to be acknowledged at the door only to find out that they don't have our booking through Fork as they've stopped using them. Erm.so why it's still accepting booking then? The host was kind enough to say that they'll try to honour the reservation and asked us to wait, guess where at the front door again. We stood there like idiots while watching him chat and laugh with a customer for what felt like an eternity. I had to approach him again and ask about his intentions or else we'll leave. Finally, after 30 mins behind our reservation time, we were seated, so good for him to find us a table. Unfortunately, that spot was rather hot and stuffy. The food was good, but the entrees were quite slow with one dish every 10 mins, the mains were a little too salty, and pipis overcooked.

Been here couple of times so got to sample most of their food. Majority of the food I've had have been fantastic regardless but these are 3 dishes I fell in love with.

1. I can confidently say their satay (lamb and wagyu) beats any satay skewer I've had using the perfect marinade, great char and high quality cut of meats-so tender.

2. Truffle mushroom fried rice- I've never had fried rice this good. Expensive but so worth it. You can smell the strong whiff of Truffle aroma and taste it too. It is on the oiler side though. I like it.

3. Salted egg prawns. Look you dont get a lot for $32 (especially for sharing), I wanted more but like I said, they use very fresh produce and prawns were so juicy paired with a lot of umami sauce with enough deep fried crunch.

Definitely worth splurging for any occasion.

Food is tasty, albeit slightly over-priced. Take-away turnaround is always fast, even if the portion sizes vary according to the day it seems.

Dining in is a different story: the service is poor and the waiters seem inexperienced and rushed. On my last visit, the restaurant was also messy (plates left lying on tables well after patrons have left) and the dining space at the back of the restaurant (usually for groups) was lack lustre.

I’d normally give two stars, but the food isn’t bad, and that’s what counts most, though there is a lot of room for improvement.

The food was great but It can’t make up for the poor customer service.

We ordered the following dishes. To be honest, the food did not let me down, especially the chasiu from the roast platter. It was succulent and full of aroma. The chicken wings really highlighted the essence of Singaporean cuisine. Last but not least, the cauliflower was really tasty with the authentic sauce.

Salted egg yolk chicken wing
XO sauce with clams
kung po cauliflower
Mix roast platter

Here we go with why I am giving them a one star

01. There was no one to conduct a diligence check of the vaccination certificate.

02. The manager refused to make up for their mistake when they messed up with my booking. They didn’t read the booking comment, hence, we didn’t get a table where it can fit in the pram. And the manager refused to let me park the pram even tho there was a space without causing any interruption. So we have to settle with a table which able to fit a high chair instead. (My baby was not ready for a high chair but ended up has to sit on a hard rock chair which is nowhere close to comfortable).

03. The dishes that we ordered aren't hard to prepare, but we waited at least 30 minutes for them to come. Later on, we added a new order, after almost 30 minutes of waiting, we decided to get the bill and not to wait anymore. Guess what? The order did not get put thru in the first place.

I can't describe how disappointed I was with this whole experience, even through the food was amazing, I would never come back the second time with the overpriced dishes, especially the poor customer service.

For a unique and delicious take on Singaporean food, this is the place to be.

From the moment we stepped inside, we could tell that no expense was spared to dress up the space to the nines. It is a restaurant where you can feel both luxurious but still casual and comfortable.

We ordered some uniquely tropical mocktails without knowing what to expect with ingredients like galangal and coconut together, and longan and mint, but they were very refreshing and delicious. We enjoyed entrees of a South East Asian twist on the classic Japanese dish of tuna tataki and what could possibly be the best salted egg yolk sauce in Melbourne on chicken wings. These were followed by juicy clams in a mouth-watering XO sauce and you tiao (I'd be wholly satisfied if I had just a bowl of the sauce and you tiao/mantou to dip into it) and a fragrant, unami-filled bowl of mushroom truffle fried rice (again, I'd happily dig into a bowl of this by itself with nothing else). The meal was finished off with desserts, the pandan gelato made in house with real pandan leaves, and Singaporean take on the mango pudding - if you're looking for a yum cha style pudding, this isn't it, but that's not a bad thing.

You can tell that this is a restaurant that is proud of the food that they serve up and we will definitely be back for more!

Food is really good! My group and I enjoyed everything (Xiao long bao and truffle rice was the highlight), but the cocktails weren't good and didn't match the food in flavour. Also, the service was pretty poor, they didn't check our table at all, and we constantly had to flag someone down. When we wanted dessert we had to stand up and go all the way to the counter because the servers weren't giving us any attention
