59Had their banquet dinner for new year’s eve. Very impressed with the service, our waitress was so attentive and efficient. The food was amazing, the banquet consisted of standard peranakan dishes that caters for all. Our hainan chicken was succulent and very tasty. We’ve ordered the roast duck as an add on and very happy that we did. And the mango pudding was super nice without being overly sweetened. Overall very good experience and will definitely recommend
Went here for Dinner. Food was absolutely delicious. Had the Satay for Starter and the Rendang and Mixed Roast Plate for Mains. Very happy with our choice and will definately be back.
The food was delicious, and the service was amazing. Celebrated a birthday dinner here and the staff were so accommodating. Thank you.
Apart from the Vegemite Rendang Beef Osso Buco, the rest were so so only. The servers were not switched on or perhaps they didn't get proper training? We also heard cursing from the kitchen.yikes!
Staff were helpful and attentive but we kept having to remind them about our existence.food was absolutely delicious and cocktails were really tasty.they still use qr codes on tables, so be sure to ask for assistance to avoid misunderstandings.start with an entree and a cocktail and continue your food journey wherever it takes you!
We have booking for 9ppl, when we are get there, separate room for us that so welcoming and cosy for us can enjoy our dinner privately. The services so sweet, looking after us well and recommend nicely.we are so happy booking during happy hours (starters half price (some) and limiting wine and cocktails half price. Our banquet spend well (65ph) serving with 3 courses; chicken and wagu beef’s satay, following by garlic stir fry bok choy, hainan stream rice and chicken lastly our mang sago pudding.
My opinion, hainan chicken rice if have some kind of soup will be more fully meal.
The banquet I score 6,5/10
If you feel hungry definitely order more foods.
Lastly, thank you for the hospitality in Tian 38, we had very good time here, love a services politely and caring for us.
Cant wait for next time visit.
Celebrated my friend’s birthday, the food is awesome, good environment and vibes.
The crispy pork belly
Delicious food. Good vibe, but the tables are a little too close together if you want a bit of privacy of conversation.
Tian 38 is a contemporary Chinese and Singaporean restaurant located in the heart of Melbourne's Chinatown. As soon as you step inside, you're greeted with a chic and modern decor that sets the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.
The menu at Tian 38 is extensive and features a range of dishes from different regions of China and Singapore, each with its own unique flavor and style. The standout Singaporean dishes include the Laksa, which is a spicy and creamy coconut noodle soup that's bursting with flavor, and the Hainanese Chicken Rice, which is a simple but delicious dish that's a staple in Singaporean cuisine.
The Chinese dishes are equally impressive, with standout options like the Sichuan Spicy Chicken, which is bursting with flavor and heat, and the Braised Pork Belly, which is tender and succulent. Vegetarian options are also available, including the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce, which is a delicious and healthy choice.
The menu also features a selection of dumplings, including the Xiao Long Bao, which are perfectly steamed and filled with juicy pork. The prices at Tian 38 are reasonable, especially given the quality of the food and the stylish decor. The restaurant also has a great selection of drinks, including a range of Chinese teas and beers.
The atmosphere at Tian 38 is sophisticated and chic, with friendly and attentive staff who are happy to make recommendations and explain the dishes. The service is quick and efficient, making it a great spot for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner.
Overall, Tian 38 is a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious Chinese and Singaporean cuisine in Melbourne. The flavors are bold and authentic, and the stylish atmosphere makes it a great spot for a special occasion or a night out with friends. Don't miss out on this fantastic restaurant!
Great place to eat, loved the Bak Kut Teh and Hainan chicken, atmosphere was great, and staff were attentive and great. Only thing I would like changed, is please get new tables, really uncomfortable eating on wabbly tables.
Quite a fine dinning interior design! Food was palatable but not that delicate.
Good service but understaffed.
Definitely want to visit second time for hving a try of Peking Duck.

second visit in Jan 2023 was nice still being high quality apart from the small table could not hold dishes and glasses well making us a tad uncomfortable when eating since no place to cut the meat or wrap my pecking duck…
The ambience and service was amazing at Tian38! I dined with my sister but would recommend going in a group of 4 as the portions are way too large to share between 2 and you aren't able to try as many things.
The salted egg prawns were phenomenal, so crispy and the flavours were delicious. The char siu was also a standout with the fattier pieces melting in the mouth. Char kway teow flavours were there but lacked wok hei which would have elevated it. The roast duck was also a little dry unfortunately.
3.5 star experience. Very friendly staff and nice cocktails and food bar one dish which was not great. I acknowledge it is the new year but sections of the wine list were no longer being offered and most other wines unavailable due to supply issues - I’d suggest letting customers know what’s unavailable and removing no longer available sections of wine from the menu as we had to go back and forth over four times and in the end could not buy a bottle of wine - especially pertinent when the food menu pairs wines that no longer exist/can’t order. It was a nice dinner but felt pretty rushed with menus and dishes being taken away too quickly and no offer to bring the bill to table (small but noticeable). Overall nice but for the price tag I’d expect a bit more of a relaxing experience and for wines to be available.
One of the best Asian restaurants that I have eaten in Melbourne. Haianese chicken is authentic, peking duck is great, the salted egg shrimp tasted like the Singaporean fish skin snack, which is good, etc.overall we were satisfied with everything. Drinks were really good as well, especially the yuzu tea that I had. The pricing was $360 for 9 people, and that was a lot of dishes. And to complement with the greatness, it plays bossa nova covers. Definitely fall in love with the vibe here!
Had the Lunar New Year banquet on the 1st day of CNY. Every dish turned out really well in taste and plating. Restaurant has a nice ambience and it felt like fresh air was being introduced into the restaurant (so wasn't stuffy) via some air vents.
Outstanding restaurant with a diverse choice on the menu. Funky set up with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Ideal for everything from intimate dinners to business lunches (rooms in the back for small and large meetings). I highly recommend giving Tian38 a try.
Been here many times for dine in and take away, Hainanese Chicken was my favorite dish. But everything changing now, food not delicious at all, seasoned too salty and chicken is dry. Others dishes are same.staff is rude. Really disappoint for that.won’t come back any more.
We booked online to celebrate here over 2 months ago, for a group of 20 people.we called to reconfirm our booking 2 weeks ago before our booking being that it was such a large group and they confirmed we were in their system.we also received the confirmation email 2 days ago - to which we clicked confirm again. When we arrived on the day at 5.15pm (15 minutes before our booking) they advised that was no reservation for us as we didn’t pay a deposit and turned us down! I showed them the confirmation email and even advised that I called before hand to confirm but they said that we didn’t pay a deposit -but they didn’t ask all those times I contacted them to confirm the booking. 20 ladies on the street with no place to go with no offer of compensation, it was very frustrating and really ruined our night of celebrations. They advised they recently had a change of management and blamed that their booking system had nothing to do with the actual restaurant. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone as they are very unprofessional and not sympathetic towards our situation at all.
This restaurant should NOT provide home delivery! We have attempted to order home delivery twice. The first time they claim it was delivered to the wrong address. Second time was equally as disastrous.
We ordered home delivery at 5: 50pm. The delivery time was provided as 6: 30 to 7: 30. At 7: 30 the food had not arrived. So we phoned the restaurant and they told us it has been picked up from the restaurant and won’t be long.
We waited another 25 minutes and phoned back again. We were told it is a mistake and we will be given a free meal. Expect delivery at 9: 00pm.
The food did not arrive at 9: 00pm. We phoned back at 9: 35pm and the person that we spoke with previously had left. We were told that the food is still sitting there.
We were in Melbourne 4 days and ate here 3 out of the 4. Just loved it and had to keep coming back. Food and service was just amazing.
