Service was very friendly and the food was good as was the bottle of pinot noir from the Yarra valley

An excellent dining experience. We visited on a very busy evening and staff was nice enough to accommodate us. We sat outdoors and it was very pleasant. The pizza was too good and I loved the base, the sauce, the freshness of the ingredients and the flavour! Will definitely be visiting again and would recommend to others though I encourage you to make a booking before visiting.

Tiamo may be a much loved Carlton institution but they don't surf on their reputation. Their specials board always has several tempting choices like the delicious Vitello Tonnato I enjoyed on my last visit. The service people are friendly and so efficient. The only downer is that you sometimes have to queue for a table

Tiamo is always crowded where you have to wait for atleast 5-10 mins to get seated, so plan your visit accordingly. Food quality is consistent throughout with friendly staff.

Love their sausage pizza!

We were expecting good things from this place but got a bit disappointed to be honest.

We ordered the bruschetta and Sicilian olives as entry. Well, the bread was just a simple white bread with no particular flavour and of supermarket quality. An artisan bread or a sourdough would have brought so much more flavour into it. In addition, it was supposed to be drizzled with olive oil.well we could not taste it at all because the quantity of olive oil they pour over was just ridiculous. The olives were ok nothing to rave about though.

While we were still eating our entry, the waitress came and put the mains on the table. Ok why not.

We both had pasta, they were ok but nothing special, we have had much better pasta elsewhere in other places.

Bit disappointed overall, we won't probably come back.

Y husband and I loved their pizza. It was first pizza we liked here in Melbourne. Went here last week with our friends who were visiting Australia and were very excited to bring them to Tiamo only to disappoint us with their very arrogant servers. One lady slammed the menu in front of me and the other guy was very hostile to us. This happened to us twice, the first time I thought they were just busy but last week was not. One of the worst service we received. Sadly I didn't get the chance to get their name.

Absoulty wonderful place the waiter we had made an excellent suggestion of getting the quattro funghi pizza. Probably the best mushroom pizza Eva. Keep up the good work we will definitely be coming back on our next trip from Brisbane.

I've always enjoyed the restaurant especially the minestrone soup. We attended on cup day night and there was a queue. For some reason the younger bald headed manager angrily said to me ' there is a queue here '. It's not like we were trying to push in as the older manager told us to move away from the doorway. At least he acknowledged we had attended many times before. Perhaps they were under a bit of pressure that night. Maybe they've had their day.

One of my favourite old school Italian restaurants with a classic menu and cosy décor. Not great for massive groups but excellent for date night.

Great traditional Italian restaurant in the heart of Carlton. John the great owner will look after you and ensure you have a fun experience. Noisy, energetic, lively environment - this is a good spot to have some time out

Disappointed. Pasta ok but very heavy on the sauce. Service very inattentive. Had to go up to the bar twice to get served. Asked how our meal was when we paid - I said not great and I don’t think she even heard me. What did Henry Hill say? Don’t get yourself put upstairs like a schnook. Something like that.

But of an institution and rightly so. The meal we ordered was surprisingly large, in a good way. Got a doggy bag to bring left overs home, so it was not only tasty but quite good value too.

Amazing Italian food. Pasta cook to perfection and pizza equally as nice. Usually full and you’ll have to wait a moment. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Not quite as Eternal as Rome, but have been slinging pasta and cotoleta for a bloody long time. Still serve wine in tumblers, can't lose your grip on those

Love this place. My go to when all else fails. Franco is a hospitable host and most of staff like Conchetta are amazing. Food is always of a good standard and atmosphere reigns supreme

One of the few remaining Italian classics of Lygon St. Stepping inside is like stepping back 40 years. No reservations, just walk up and wait. Pasta is always al dente and sauces are beautiful. Always served with lovely bread to help mop up the sauce. If you have room for the dessert try the chocolate mousse, the hint of liquer is ecstasy.
