The Wheelers Hill Hotel Bistro reviews
46We had a big booking of about 8 people and had no children. We were seated right by the children's play area, and the noise was just too overwhelming and too much to handle.
It's been a while since I visited this hotel. I used to be a resident of Mulgrave back in the 70's but since moved away. Since my visit last Sunday, I was pleasantly surprised to see such a change all for the better. Thanks to the management of the Wheelers Hill Pub.
It was a birthday meal which was quite nice. Meals and drinks from bar. Not the best for seniors.
The Wheelers Hill Hotel offers a mixed dining experience. While the food can be hit and miss on occasion, the staff consistently shine with their great service.
Our usual Sunday after games lunch. This place we made reservation a week ago as we wanna try their parma and afraid the place is packed.
Service & Ambience [3]. A bit confusing while trying to find the restaurant. Went straight after the entrance, a lady asked if we have made reservation. Yes, and were told to head up. There is a lift, but we skip as I am sure is the slowest lift up one level. Stairs up quicker. We read about the nice view - looking far away yes. Near are the car parks.
Ordering - well if you have never been to a pub, am sure you will wonder where to order. There are different order area - one for drinks and the other for food. Food counter only one staff so there's a wait. Then at the drink counter, getting a bottle of tap water also got to queue. Well there are new glasses on counter top but no water bottle so got to ask.
The place seems noisy. So if you want to have quite and peaceful meal then not here. Family with kids, birthday celebration. You know how it goes.
Food [3]. Alright, their parma wasn't the best. The pizza for that price is small and perhaps meant for kid. We thought we can share. Burger, like me see. I preferred Betty Burger taste better. Steak is okay.
Something positive - overall bill has no weekend surcharge or did they miss? Cash payment if you want to avoid the card surcharges.
It was so noisy near the kids' area where they put us we couldn't even hear each other (hence no stars for atmosphere) and the food was quite plain.
Great place to catch up with family and friends
Food is normally good
Service can be a hit and miss especially when busy. But otherwise Great place
Had a lovely experience with few mates on a Sunday. Declan at the bar was good value and the manager Anastasia was very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely go back again!
If you are looking for somewhere with an amazing playground - definitely stop by here!
It's probably the only good thing going for this place though, the food was dismal and unenjoyable, service needs a lot of improvement and overall everything just needs a facelift majorly.
Broken chairs/table legs, dirty cutlery, stunk of cigarettes in the dining area.
Food was great, ordered from the QR code. Drinks and food came out promptly. Staff were lovely. Nil issues
Great views in a superb environment. The service is excellent, and the Porterhouse steak is a must!
Very good service, service staff always very pleasant.
Good place to catch up with d friends.
Super views. Excellent kids play-maze. Disinterested greeting staffer. Friendly and courteous wait-staff. Superfast too. Hearty (albeit overpriced) meals for kids and grown-ups. Seniors meals a rip-off (half-priced meal half off the meal, too). Great beer special on the day (don't care for Furphys, but love the price!). Rude and sullen dessert-service staff that kinda spoilt the otherwise-lovely day. But the kid had fun fun fun.
Pretty average, for what it is, expected a bit better, menu was pretty limited, expensive for the quality
Has a play centre area for kids - good for age 2-7. Good solid menu and clean premise. Suggest booking or going before the usual lunch/ dinner peaks as it gets quite busy. Will come again
Big meals great play area for kids was able to eat and relax for 2 hours while my toddlers were kept busy for the whole time
Large family group of about 20 of us visited and booked two tables.
Everyone was quite impressed by the food, prices were good, service was great and there was plenty of parking.
Would happily return!
This was our first time and we got there at about 11: 00am, just in time for late breakfast and before the lunchtime rush. The food was quite good and the service was prompt and pleasent. For those with children the new looking indoor play area was amazing, easily rivaling that at a good speciality play centre and our kids (3 and 1) loved it. I see this becoming a regular weekend breakfast location for us.
Large modern hotel bistro, great views, good menu choices well cooked and priced. Staff VERY helpful and friendly. Overall terrific lunch experience
I went today at lunch time with my friends and kids, we were having a good time until someone came to say that we need to go as they need to clean everything and be ready to dinner time, so we had to go somewhere else
