The Tea Room

Came for a birthday experience. A request was made that we not have butter on the sandwiches and staff made the decision to provide vegan dessert which was not what we asked for or wanted. Investigations on going while we now have to wait because we can't get staff so we can pay. Host (Georgia) arguing the toss with my wife now. Won't be back. Disgraceful

Great service with friendly staffs who are not only attentive but very friendly with lovely smiles to greet us. We had 1 high tea with share and an extra pot of tea and the amount of food was just enough for 1.5 adults. If you are hungry you might need 2 serves of high tea or 1 serve with something small from the menu. I think the high tea definitely worth it. It might not be instagram fancy ones but all the food items included are so delicious. We had the children’s high tea last time and it was very good as well. Please note that the tea room is very busy so make sure you reserve your table online in advance.

Food was a good mix of sweet and savoury. Extra bonus for being able to mix and match the non-alcoholic, sparkling, and free flowing options. Tea options were good. You could swap the tea to 1 coffee. Staff were lovely.
Location is a tiny bit odd as you have heaps of NGV guests who aren't eating just walking past. Also, it is unclear if you get a refill on your tea. We never got an answer.

Today, the staff where very rushed and understaffed, but remained as pleasant and helpful as always. Thank you!

We had an excellent event: high tea for 23 to celebrate the forthcoming wedding of our friend.
Thoroughly recommend venue.
Charming waiters and waitress. Only improvement was that they could have served tea and coffee earlier

This was our first time and we received the French Afternoon Tea as a 70th birthday gift. The food and service were exceptional, we had a very enjoyable afternoon. Congratulations to the Chef and Mandi and the team for creating a great experience. Don't eat lunch before you go- there is plenty of delicious food to eat!

Firstly impressed so many times available for high tea. I guess during the week much easier. Had got to NGV early. Decided on Rembrandt but needed more time. Went to Tea Room to change times; lovely lady at reception no problems at all.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food. So many little delights. The sandwiches were a real surprise. I didn’t expect such tasty sandwiches. Four varieties. All very moreish. Scones were perfect. Savoury & sweet cakes, quiches, croquettes were all very good. No complaints at all … well maybe the staff were a little too eager to remove plates. No biggie.

I didn’t have bubbles, just coffee. I’d love to return for another high tea. Would be great if you could have it in nicer environs as it’s in the shared space with lunch patrons.

Staff were friendly & managed to squeeze us in without a booking. However the tea room lacked any sort of ambiance. It was dimly lit and not cheap. My friend and I could have done with a little help from the staff around suggestions of serving sizes. We mentioned we werent too hungry but ended up with two plates of scones at $18 a plate ($9 per scone) that we couldnt finish in the end.which was a shame to see food wasted, $40 later.

Very good food and excellent catering for dietary requirements for the high tea. Would have liked to have free flowing tea/coffee though.

Lovely service but not being able to take the leftovers home seems a bit silly. The portions are generous and it would have been a nice touch to let us take the leftovers home to share.

Delicious high tea here for Mother's Day. Attentive staff and quiet efficient service. A lovely place to spend the afternoon.

I took my partner for high tea at the NGV for valentines day and the best time. The food was fantastic and the staff were very helpful and pleasant.would recommend you try it.

Came to the Tea Room for lunch after visiting the Alexander McQueen exhibition. It was a lovely experience. The food was delicious. We had the soup, sanwiches, salad and devonshire tea to finish. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the room had a nice ambience and it was reasonably priced. We enjoyed our visit and will come again.

The tea room is busy and very cafe style, however the chef was amazing with the dietary requirements for our High Tea and was very accommodating which made our afternoon very enjoyable.

The attention of the staff was very kind and friendly. Also I really enjoy the scones and I would like to have other flavors in the High Tea.

From the booking to the service, we were taken cared of very well.
The service this afternoon could not be faltred. Any of the wait staff were attentive, courteous & polite.
If their name badges were visible, i would have named them.
The food was pleasant.
Enjoyed the Coronation chicken sandwich with Magoe n spices.
The petite fours were too petite to be descerning.
Overall we enjoyed our special Anniversary outing.
