Had a fantastic dinner thanks Sean and team. Chanced our luck and got a walk in spot. Make sure you book. Duck parfait was sensational as was the Barramundi! Loved the local wine list. Can’t wait to return.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The food was delicious and the wines also. Nice and cosy romantic setting, very good value.

What a great place in Beechworth. Food was fresh and delish. Had the wild boar ragu and wild rabbit fettuccine were both amazing. The honey pannacotta is sweet but very nice. Great atmosphere and wine, friendly staff.

We had an excellent dinner with a good selection of wine. The main course menu is limited but every dish was well presented and very tasty. The staff were very professional and friendly. Highly recommended.

A little disappointed. Food was fairly average for the price. Lovely staff which made it a little better, but over $200 for an average 2 course meal for 2.

Beautiful room, wonderful food. Best ever French style cuisine I’ve had in a long time. Very popular book ahead.

This little gem was a superb find! The atmosphere was nice and cosy and the food was really wholesome! The Chestnut Pasta with Rabbit was my fave. Worth the visit!

I ordered a zucchini, basil risotto and it was delicious. I'm not even joking it was the best risotto I've ever had! Service was great and the vibes were fantastic!

Edit: Get the Honey Panna Cotta, I'm not joking it is the best desert I've ever had

We ordered the smoked trout and parfait for entree and Eye fillet & wild rabbit fettuccine for main, they were absolutely phenomenal. We finished the night with the Honey panacotta. If you're in Beechworth and after a good meal please give this restaurant a go, you will not regret it.

Lovely food, restaurant overhyped, menu oddly paired, waiting staff rude

The meal was nice, mismatched with odd incohesive vegetables. Sauces solid 6/10

The wait staff upon entry will look at you as if aren't welcome, like they are expecting you to say "sorry we don't have a booking".
The following surprise is an almost genuine condescending smile.

Our table waiter did his best to talk us onto the most expensive wine after we told him tonight we opted for the more affordable (still $50 - $70) options. He was clearly unimpressed with our low budget chianti
(Which, I still thought was delightful)
Very professional table service, cutlery, napkins, pronunciations, wine tasting/ pouring. Even tried to be personable, engaging in small talk. Unfortunately he spoke over the top of me every time I tried to engage.

Meals were delicious and moist - we each had differing meat mains, but as mentioned, pairing was questionable. Maybe chef is trying to punch above his creative weight?

We weren't rude whatsoever - we make a point of always being polite, keeping our opinions to ourselves and not causing a scene.

After which the waiter kindly brought us both a single trial of the local $96 wine he was pushing. Yes lovely gesture. Incredible Pinot. From my heart I appreciate the offer, however, was a "frick you, look what you missed".

While my boyfriend went to the toilet I took the chance, I sneakily went up to go pay, to get him back for never letting me contribute to fancy dinners.

At EFTPOS time, as the machine is thrust under my face, ready to tap away, the staff member was like "oh no you need to push the button please"
Read the screen. PLEASE ENTER TIP AMOUNT IF $0.00 PRESS ENTER. Pressed enter
(Reasons for not tipping: #1 in Australia no tip, #2 food
was good, not GREAT, #3 the staff are grating)
Do u want a receipt darl? -oh no thank you.

The second the host and out table waiter exchanged quiet words, then oh boy did his attitude change to worse. It went from just "taking over" to "talking over, talking down, look of disgust, instant lack of interest, customer service off mode"

The food here is good but not good enough to save the high attitudes of the staff which seem to have an over inflated sense of self.

Visiting from out of town so I took the time to seek out a good restaurant for our anniversary meal. Unfortunately, we decided to dine here… the meal was on of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Tasteless, mushy and lacked flavour, it was so disappointing. The ox tail was literally on plate without the sauce being reduced at all… seemed like it came straight from the slow cooker. The ambience was nice and cosy, however I wouldn’t recommend dining here.

Fantastic dinner. Highly recommended if you want a great European influenced menu in Beechworth - but make sure you book or you may not be able to get a seat; this is a small restaurant that was fully booked on our first night but we were able to get a table on our last night in town.

We really enjoyed the food but it was unfortunately under seasoned. A bit of salt fixed it but did not expect this faux pas when you are paying over $200 for an evening out. Perhaps the chef was having a rough day and all is forgiven. Very extensive wine selection and we enjoyed every bit.

On. Point.

The Ox and Hound Bistro is a must visit if you are in Beechworth. Everything about this place is excellent. To the rustic decor and comfy seats, to the perfectly curated menu. I would highly recommend anyone who is in Beechworth to book ahead and enjoy this great experience. The food is delicious, and do yourself a favour by getting their signature honey dessert with the paired wine. You won't be disappointed. The service is timely and all the staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with. I will be returning and recommending this place to my friends. Thanks for a great dinner.

Second time I’ve been here and after an ordinary first visit decided to give it another chance and it disappointed even further. Had the soufflé for entree which was burnt on the bottom and flavourless whilst the rabbit fettuccine was dry and no good. Combine that with a glass of wine for $22 is a recipe for disaster. Won’t be giving it a third crack.

A little disorganised, and then over $60 for sparkling water, a glass of wine and pasta w/rabbit. The pasta portion was small and it was rather dry
