The Olive Tree reviews
65Would come back to Melb just for this place! Food was amazing and so was service (thanks Ben!). Great prices too would recommend.
10/10: fantastic food, great atmosphere, fast service, and our waiter, Ben, was very friendly and helpful. A great experience, some of the best Italian we’ve had.
Good honest food, cooked well. Mediterranean vibe, great atmosphere, and friendly service.
Excellent old school venue.
Big serves, great food, cheap wine, excellent service. A family staple for us with the kids
Terrible fried calamari, almost fast food grade. The food was ok, not terrible but definitely not great. The place looks great but…not the food.
The food was good and the place itself is nice. Unfortunately, the service was bad. We ordered a side dish, and asked for it two times. They never brought us the side dish. However, when we were about to pay for the dinner, the side dish that never came was on the bill. I said that they never brought us the side dish, and the waitress just answered: "Ok. I'll remove it from the bill". No apologies, nothing.
I understand that sometimes orders can be forgotten (even if we asked two times for it), but hey, maybe you could say that you are sorry about it?
Steak was charcoal, bad service, calamari was literally Birds Eye box and the red wine sauce was gravox
Great night out with friends having a delicious meal. The service was above excellent and the server's attended to us with excellence. Loved the food absolutely delicious
Authentic look and feel, and food cooked to perfection. Friendly and fun staff. Was surprisingly busy even on a Wed night so reservations recommended. Good wine & drinks range.
So good. Food was delicious. Older style venue that has character. Was very busy, and the service was excellent.
I had a lunch with my colleagues today. I ordered lamb. It was 80 percent raw and bleeding. Tasteless raw lamb. Very disappointed because after having it my stomach is the whole day funny
Really bad services. Especially the ladies there who are older. I didn’t feel welcomed. We were sitting there for a long time and then I finally asked for the menu, the lady said to us” as you can see, we are so busy” and then just left. Probably the menu is too far from them. They need to take a train to get there to bring the menu for us. So disappointed.
My favourite restaurant in Melbourne.
Great food, great staff, great environment. Never fail to be impressed
This was a real surprise. Never knew it existed. First of all the service was impecible. Friendly, and attentive, without hovering over you. The food was lovely. Everyone at the table enjoyed every mouthful, and cleaned up their plate. I had the 6 hours cooked beef cheek. Melted in my mouth. The price was very, very reasonable. The decor was original from 1980, and very honest. Got the feeling this is a family run restaurant, with caring owners.
Every item we ordered was excellent.
Bruschetta, oysters, rack of lamb, garlic prawns, choc mousse and the rum honey baked pear.all devine, excellent service.
Fantastic little restaurant that's been around since the 70s. We have been going for years and are always welcomed with a friendly smile. The food never disappoints. The service is friendly and it's offers a byo wine option. Highly recommended.
Amazing food and phenomenal service. Everything we have from the beef Wellington with home made pate, stuffed mushrooms, lamb rack to even the fish and chips where all so delicious. Highly recommend The Olive Tree.
Absolutely beautiful food and great servings, lots of gluten free options and absolutely brilliant on every level. Staff were so kind and helpful, lovely place and really good prices. Great for a date, family events and child friendly - amazing! All staff were so lovely especially Jamie was so nice to us and so helpful!
The concept of Customer first was completely amiss! The waitress especially was arrogant and very impolite … reminds me of arrogantly French. Atleast the French get arrogant only when one speaks to them in English in their country. We weren’t even doing that just ordering food. The lady said “You score two red points “ coz one of our friends didn’t turn up for a table of four. Adding fuel to the fire was the total mess up of the bill which included an item which we ordered and weren’t even served but charged for religiously!
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to any non native Aussie who is a tad bit darker in shade! Yes this particular staff seemed racist!
