The National Theatre Melbourne reviews
47The venue is a bit old and neglected. Toilets are a bit off and everything ask for a renovation.
Need more public toilet s installed and old ones updated, staff where great and entertainment was excellent! Although in need of a little restoration it feels great to be in their.
Good for a comedy show. With a decent view from most seats. The seats are from the 1950s so I wouldn't want to sit in them for much more than 60 mins. The place is old but has atmosphere ad you would expect from an old threatre. Has a bar for drinks.
You do very little notice to the tenants that use that same car park of yours to entre and exit when you have works done in there. Since yesterday and today you have had your exit section in the carpark blocked off making me use the enter section of the car park and I almost crashed into a car this morning because I am not supposed to use the enter section as an exit section. Not only that but you still have your customers and their parents enter and wait to pick their kids up from where the park is, twice now that I have reversed out of my carpark to find plenty of people waiting in there to collect their kids or what not. Again you are putting your clients lives at risk and mine as well. Something about that carpark of yours need to really be done.
Seats far too small and cramped, and even broken for some of them.
Wonderful atmosphere.
What a step back in time. We did tje comdey gala for women's health week, yes there is such a thing at The National. What fun. Need to love stairs but great fun.
Love this venue in st Kilda. Great place to see a show and a friendly venue to work in as a tech.
Historical feels, loved the design! Only thing was seating was a bit tight - but considering it is culturally historic it is understandable. Good experience
The show "Kinky Boots" was absolutely SENSATIONAL.
Yes the CLOC theatre company have done it again - it was as professional as a show produced by one of big theatrical companies.
I have seen several of there productions and they all have AMAZING.
Thanks again "CLOC"!
A fantastic historical building with lots of character. Great size for intimate viewing experience. Seat bases probably need a refurb but otherwise comfortable. If you want snacks for the show then get there early as queues grow long with only a single staff serving. Bathrooms are clean but don't expect to be able to dry your hands!
Not a bad seat in the house, purchase tickets night before and thought I was up in the gods, but layout is so good even 2nd last row in the corner was still good!
Very old theatre with a wide stage with unblocked views. We took advantage of our visit to go to the beach and sightsee. Really close to restaurants. Parking can be a hassle because there are 1hour limits midweek. Paid parking in walking distance. $10 per hour!
Ok but alot of stairs. The atmosphere was electric the sound was great and performers most excellent some could do with improvement
Venue is beautiful. Had the pleasure of watching the Les Miserables production which was absolutely amazing. Enjoyed it thoroughly and will certainly return!
The space is old and historical but still comfortable to sit. The middle rows still have a reasonably good view of the stage and performance. A long staircase to get to the rear stage door.
A great theater to watch shows, reminds me of the Palais in St Kilda. Don't expect 21st century comfort from early 20th century seating. It's part of the atmosphere.
A jewel of St Kilda, this beautiful theater has so much character.
It is a touch on small side with regards to seating, but that makes performances seem much more intimate.
The only downside is the lack of female toilets, especially during intermission.
Otherwise, it's a wonderful venue that you should see a show at, if you get the chance
I love this old theatre and the Cloc Theatre Company. Chairs are very old and not very comfortable, but seating is well tiered. Very few toilets - always seems to be a problem for women. Hard to find parking in area if you're unable to take public transport (tram stop at door). Good amateur theatre venue. Well worth the drive to get there.
Crying out for a renovation, this place has seen better days. One day it will just cave in on itself.
