The Mex

Food was not nice at all. I ordered a classic cocktail couldnt drink it was very strong. They didnt offer to change it even for a soft drink. My daughter couldnt eat the cheese taco i had some but the rest of the meal was awful. The chicken etc. I ended up with a 90 dollar bill for 1 adult 1 child and it really wasnt nice.

Glorified Taco Bell, salt galore, Mexican with no spice, zesty lemon or coriander freshness, food looks Mexican but does not taste like Mexican.

Staff was good

I would have given everything 5/5
but unfortunately the churros were oily & a little bit raw on the inside.
We will definetly be back again.

Brilliant service for a surprise birthday dinner. Meals hot, prompt and correctly delivered even following a multitude of dietary requirements. Thanks again Mex. You are our fave.

A great place that caters to true casual dining. Generally well priced but the rib and wing combo was overpriced for the amount of food. Taquitos were fabulous as was the quessadila. Would order both again. Plenty of friendly well trained staff.

If you want good Mexican food in Ocean Grove, go to Zambrero.

Went to The Mex expecting food and drink worthy of such impressive reviews, however I was left quite disappointed. The pricing, I was quite amused to see such egregious prices. We ordered the fajitas for two, $57, what we received was the “old El Paso” recipe. The Negroni ordered was very weak and for $21 you’d expect something with a bit of taste.

Really great casual summer dining. We rocked up on 2 January in a big group at about 6: 30pm without a booking and got a good table in the beer garden with grapevines and a fun mural. We enjoyed the vintage Australian indie music on the stereo.

We ordered by QR code which I like (I know some people don’t) and a waiter came by to check if we had any questions about the menu. You could also order drinks at the bar.

Meals came out promptly and portions were very generous – the burrito bowls, salads and fajitas my friends ordered looked great. Go there hungry. I’d ordered an enchilada with extra frijoles and a taco, but that turned out to be way too much food for me. Good vegie options for my vegetarian friends.

I tried the frozen lemon margarita which was okay, and I enjoyed the peach margarita.

What great service, very attentive, polite and happy. Food came out promptly and tasted delicious. I would recommend to everyone.

We walked in without a booking and they were super accommodating.the food was amazing and even though it was really busy Nina gave us great service. Everything on the menu was great.

Good tacos, although the soft corn premium ones are much better than the hard shell cheaper ones.
The beef brisket and fish were the highlight. Guacamole was also good.

Excellent quality and quantity. This is easily the best Mexican food our family has had. The restaurant was almost full (always a good sign) and the staff very friendly

Had such a great time with my family here and our waitress Beth was sunny and cheerful. The food was totally delicious u have to try the cauliflower taco and the brownie with chilli! The margaritas and daiquiris were great and Hubby tried a Mexican beer! If the bar staff had of smiled it would have been a perfect night x

Good food, great and attentive service with meals and drinks run in timely fashion. Absolutely recommend as a fun venue!

It's a family restaurant. Nothing flash but everything was better than okay. Moving on to 2022 and reduced menu options were obvious. It was okay.
