Lovely central motel for a casual visit to Sale. Staff extremely pleasant and accommodating. Very modest charges for a motel and complemented by an excellent continental breakfast at no additional fee. Will certainly stay here again!

Spacious, very clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent service and the breakfast is fresh and plentiful. Great for our needs - a warm bed for a night with a child. The price is best in town for what you get and the staff are lovely.

Wow, we were impressed! Our stay was a quick overnighter, and the beautifully renovated family room had plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The room was spotless, and had all cutlery/crockery/ glassware you’d need; the beds were comfortable and cozy with fresh crisp sheets; and the bathroom was spacious and kitted out with plenty of toiletries. The complimentary bottled water and chocolates were a lovely touch too. As if that wasn’t enough for the super cheap price, it also included a fabulous continental breakfast in the dining room. We couldn’t be any happier with our stay! Thank you to you and your friendly staff.

This motel was previously known as The Econolodge Hacienda, and I noticed it still came up as this on one of the accommodation booking sites.
My weekend stay at The Matador worked out to $103.64 per night after booking on Expedia using a special discount offer I had with my credit card. For the price, I would have given the property 5 stars however I have to take one away for the cigarette smell that seemed to have permeated the room, and which was evident upon my entry. I later realised that this wasn't actually a smell in the room but it was the smell of someone smoking outside being sucked into the room. Perhaps it was coming from the smokers' area or perhaps it was a neighbour on the balcony, but it was nevertheless annoying, and not till much later did I realise that the room window had been left open by the cleaners, which wouldn't have helped the matter.
I also note that whilst I was in a nice quiet room up in the corner of the property (none of the truck noise that I believe some other reviews have mentioned), the split system air conditioner was noisier than I would have expected. It was a good brand, Daikin or Fujitsu or similar, but it was still just that bit too noisy for my liking. From memory the remote control was a generic one so I couldn't set quiet mode on it, and I'm pretty sure that model air con has it on the original remote control.
Other than those things, my room had everything I needed for a short stay. It had obviously been recently renovated but I will say that the bathroom looked so clean that I wondered if anyone had ever stayed in it before me. Of note, a hairdryer was provided and (importantly for me) soap was provided as soap bars rather than a pump pack of shower gel like some properties do to save a few cents.
The bed was comfortable, though the pillows weren't the most comfortable I've ever slept on.
Off-street parking was reasonably plentiful however I imagine when it's busy some guests would have to park out on the street.
The included breakfast was what sealed the deal for me, and I was impressed with the range provided. Sure, it was what you'd call a continental breakfast, but there was more than just cereal, bread, jam and some fruit. I also appreciated the fancy coffee machine which used coffee capsules and frothed my milk, as opposed to the filter coffee you get at some places, including at a 5 star resort that I'd recently stayed at!
Service was pleasant, and overall I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again if I needed a place in Sale. Thanks and keep up the good work!

The managers were polite, cheerful & helpful. Since the trip was for medical reasons & I was already stressed, I cannot thank them enough. (ps they were not aware of the reason for travel).

As an interstate visitor I was very pleased with my stay at the Matador. Pleasantly surprised by a room upgrade on arrival. The staff were very lovely and accommodating from check in to check out. The upstairs king room was well presented and renovated, clean, spacious, light and airy. Good value for money. Good location close to Main Street with restaurants/cafes. Highly recommend!

Our stay was just a relaxation 1 and the Matador was very good for that. If some want to stay there and relax the others can walk to the shops or the area around the library is also very nice. All walkable which is great. The only problem was lack of car parks, none of the spots were marked with room numbers, so first in best dressed. We had to park out in the street 2 of the 3 nights we stayed.

Great room, been recently renovated obviously. Quiet location, carpark can be a problem if it's busy though as the spots are narrow.

Family room is very dated and basic. The room smell musty smell, however the location is good and the breakfast provided is amazing.

The refurbished room is nice. Bed is comfy. Staff is friendly. Continental breakfast was nice. TV is OK. Will come back.

We did an overnight stay here to break the journey on a long weekend. It was very comfortable and the bathroom was recently updated to a very good standard. Good iron and ironing board, good hair dryer, good kettle, not cheapies.
It is close to all of the main restaurants/ pubs etc in Sale, easy to find on the corner of the Princes Hwy and we found the Bowling Club on a Friday night was jumping and the place to be, just a short distance way (driving)
The staff were very pleasant and helpful on the phone and when checking in and out and at breakfast.
Breakfast is a European buffet with some cold meats, toast and cereals, and a GREAT pod coffee machine.
Good value, comfortable, good happy staff in the breakfast room, on the phone and at reception.
Downside, probably the carpet could have used a steam clean, the front door lock was in need of some RP6 and being a long weekend parking was first come first served with a few larger vehicles and boats, although great street parking outside on a quiet street.
But overall 5 stars for a good comfortable, happy staffed mid range motel, have stayed in far worse costing far more.

The Matador here on sale is a very good place to be. I'm here for work, and the motel is nicely close to the local amenities, they have charge-back available for a variety of eateries. The room is tidy nicely set out a the bed quite comfortable. It's also the first ti E I've seen a card with the name of the person who has cleaned the room. To me it lends itself to a higher level of responsibility. There is also a microwave in the room as well. The member of staff I spoke with on arrival was very helpful and friendly as well.

Really happy with helping out to late night check in for the hotel as we were coming from a long drive, the staff member (craig) help me via text even before the check in there, which was really helpfull. The room was newly renovated & pretty cleaned, with the spacious bathroom great service at the cheapest price. I will definitely stay there for my next visit in the sale. Highly recommended. Thank you guys
