73I went on a Wenesday, so there was some live Irish music which was lovely. The food was nice, the staff were good and helped to reccomend a beer for me. Nice evening:)
An Irish pub that actually alleviates depression instead of causing it.
If you find yourself thirsty and hungry on a cold winter's day then you can do no wrong coming here.
It has a good selection of manly beers (Pikes stout is top notch) and a food menu that's cheap and pretty decent for what you get.
Great Irish themed pub on Elizabeth Street, within walking distance of both the CBD and Melbourne University. The Irish poutine listed on the menu is actually just normal poutine however. The Irish theme is noticeable but not too strong, making this established best enjoyed when used as a good general pub in a convenient location. The beer garden upstairs is also a great place to escape to.
Very disappointed. This boozer used to be amazing, great beer and great food but unfortunately it has taken a turn for the worst, the beer is still quality and it still a good boozer with a good beer selection but the food is just poor in comparison to what it used to be.
Raw Turkey here was the worst meal I've ever had. So nice that they replaced the meal but for some reason had lost my appetite.
We popped in last night after walking round the queen victoria market. It was traditional Irish music night with locals playing instruments. It was a very good night for all the family
I eat there every Wed evening and get a great meal and value. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very good Guinness
Had reserved a table for 10 for lunch but they are no longer doing table service (was warned when booking the table). Had to queue at the bar to order along with everyone else ordering drinks, took about 10 minutes as there was only one person taking orders. Waited over 40 minutes only to be told that the chef hadn't even started cooking our order yet. We were given refunds on our food but this should have really extended to drinks as well. While we were leaving, another table (who had also reserved a table) were getting up to leave without their food as well. I've no idea what happened but they had three fairly large groups who'd booked ahead so they should have been prepared for this. Also, being told our food would be two minutes, only to be told 10 minutes later that it hadn't even been started, was really bad. I doubt anyone from our group (who work locally) will be going back.
Terrific pies, try the fish pie.yummo. Big servings, fantastic staff and vibrant Irish sounds from the local musicians. Love this place. Cheers
Previously my favourite pub, since the change of ownership it has gone downhill. We had breakfast here on St Patrick's day and it was terrible. The sausages looked like frozen cheap Coles sausages. Very disappointing, won't be back. Go to the Drunken Poet (former owners) if you want a good Irish pub
Waited for over an hour for food before being told half the menu couldn't be cooked because they were out of ingredients. Ended up getting a refund and leaving. Wasted our whole friday lunch.
Great Pub. Lot of atmosphere. Good Menu. Great Guinness and the Jamieson.
Discovered the Upstairs BEER Garden this time too. Cheers Nicko and Claire Xoxo
Irish-born and bred, and can attest that they pour a good pint of Guinness, which makes it worthwhile haunt for ex-pats.
