The Grand Tofu reviews
71A casual dine in fast-food style of cafe with considerably good selection choices of Malaysian Chinese cuisine. I was able to choose their yong tau foo selections and we had a choice of meat stock flavored soup, tom yum or their curry laksa flavor soup or thrir dry version thst comes with the soup. Definitely a must try for first timers apart from their fried Malaysian noodles and rice topping dishes. Service is quick and you pay at the counter after choosing your selection of yong tau foo and you get it in no time.
A lot of varieties of tofu for you to choose from the bar. Good potion and affordable. Tried their young tofu with curry soup and love it. The curry soup was a bit too creamy for me however. Will try their tom yam soup next time. I like their teh tarik too
The fried noodles were too greasy and I even bite a small stone in them. As a result, I ended up vomiting several times during the whole night!
Good value place to eat Chinese Asian food.
Quite generous with the dish sizes and the food is consistently good.
The place can get busy so don't be surprised if they shift tables or if you have to wait for a table. Once you've ordered the food does come very quickly.
I’ve visited this restaurant no less than 50 times, & I’m always in love with their Yong Tofu without fail.
Much like a multinational Asian streets foods. Plentiful, great taste. Take a table outside if whether is good.
Tasty yes, Service Average, Price good, Cleanliness Average
I had Curry Laksa it was very good.
A good local south east Asian food joint. The taste is relatively authentic. It serve Yong tau Fu plus other Asia delights. It has a few tables out door too.
Glad to return to this restaurant. Dont underestimate the portion. Its a huge one. Lol
Return visit in march 2022. Enjoying so much the delicious meals in this restaurant. Yong tofu has been our fav food. The other dishes are also nice. Once again the size of the food is big, enough for 2 ppl. Recommended restaurant.
Literally eat here every week without fail. Can't go wrong with a bowl of Yong Tofu! You get to choose 6 different choices in stuffed vegies/tofu products to add to your desired soup. Cannot recommend this enough!
Nice place and great food. Good portions/flavours vs cost. Can be a little crowded inside with its layout though, if social distancing is super important to you. Really enjoyed the dishes, highly recommend.
Good experience to try Malaysian food. The assum laksa tasted so different from normal laksa but good. Soup and rice are nice as well.
Theres no negative ratings so cant give them negative.
I don't write reviews but this needs to be done.went here last night and sat outside, ordered 2 meals and 2 drinks,
we asked waitress for a plastic fork and disposable chopsticks due to covid and as they keep their cutlery all day outside on the tables and haven't been washed properly, and the waitress replied to pay extra 20 cents each for plastic fork and 20 cents for chop sticks, i explained to her we just spent $49 and the boss came out and she backed up her RUDE staff member, the boss was extremely RUDE also and said "yes give 20 cents now or i no give you ", cant believe they running a business, just imagine how many short cuts they take with your food if they worry about a plastic fork for 20 cents! Rudest staff and boss ive ever seen anywhere!
avoid this place
If there is ever a reason to move to the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, I'd say it is to be closer to Grand Tofu. I would also be closer to obesity.delicious, fast, authentic, affordable, and friendly. Can't go wrong!
Had Yong Tau Fu laksa and Loh Ba.
Both were disappointing. The laksa was served like warm and Loh Ba was awful. Filling for Loh Ba just sweet and salty and they don't use dried bean curd skin, only coated with a flour mix and deep fried. Will give this place s miss
The attitude is really very bad. I hope the boss can manage this shop well. We ordered a seafood Tom Yum noodle and it was very salty. After eating one or two prawns and noodles, it was really hard to swallow. He just told me what to change? So I ordered a wanton soup emm and only 3 pieces. When I checked out, I was charged for the whole seafood noodle. I told the cashier that it was too salty, so I changed it, so it should only be charged. I got wonton money and the waiter told me that if you eat it, you can't get your money back. It's the same as counting wontons in the noodles money. I, she doesn't have a name, and my companions ordered fish head noodle soup. There were bugs A group of people gathered around to deny it and then pinched it to death in front of us. It's disgusting. Really bad dining experience.use both
Went with my friend we both thought the food was delicious! Good taste of Malaysian food. Would recommend.
Service could be faster though.
Food is very nice and consistent. Been here 4 times, all with happy tummies. Staff are very helpful and friendly, they even get you kids cutlery without asking. Food comes super fast and steaming hot. All the items we've had so far are delicious and brings us back to Malaysia.
After seeing the most recent comment from 郑zzz and unable to reply to respond to her comment somehow frustrates me.
We have been customers of The Grand Tofu for the past 15 years and have always come to this place because of the homely feeling the place provides.
Coincidentally, I think I came across what had happened and would like to share our views on the unfair comments. The fact is that the patrons were trying to take advantage on the business by raising small issues. To be honest, I had TomYum Yong Tofu today and the flavour is as usual, so if you personally cannot take strong flavours, it is your responsibility to let the restaurant know so that they can do something before serving you. Even so, they are more than happy to change the meal after you are nearly half done, and you are still trying to push your way for a free meal? Another note, if you are disgusted by the bug (if it is really is a bug), you could politely request for a replacement and I am sure they will be more than happy to change another for you, but instead you finished the meal and then make a fuss, so maybe the intention of your complaints are being too obvious? If the business give you free meal because of your petty complaints and still finishes all the food and try to defame them later (that’s what I heard they are implying to do so when the staffs is reluctant to do what they wished to), everyone will be doing the same, then what is the incentive for them to run the business and serve you.
Hopefully this comment will encourage the loyal and satisfied customer to come and give their fair and honest opinion.
It doesn't taste like how it used to be 15 years ago. As Malaysians that was our go to place for authentic malaysian food but we were disappointed after going there today. The food was so bland and tasteless. Even the sambal was sweet, not one bit of chilli. We think the cooks are from China.
