The Crispy Catch Fish and Chips Ferntree gully

March 2022 I saw a recent review saying it has changed hands again and is good now, so we called and ordered minimum chips and some potato cakes as a snack and to get a taste for the food.
So glad that is all we bought.
Potato cakes were some weird (frozen manufactured?) things served in a paper bag, not the ‘potato cake’ you expect and get from every other chip shop in Australia.
We didn’t even want to taste them, and we were very put off from eating the greasy not great chips so all went in the bin. Very glad we tried them before blowing $$ on a family sized order.

Disgusting dry old cardboard on all the food. Flake not even flake. Tasted like it was a week old food reheated. Paid for a huge family meal plus extras. Never again. Threw most of it out.

Pure disgusting I ate this 20 minutes ago and now feel sick and have got the runs this business needs to be shut down

If your after quality Fish n Chips in the East.make sure you try this place. Awesome quality crispy and most of all, Fresh. Highly recommended.thanks Guys.always come back.

Absolutely discusting rotten food, I wouldn't even class that as food, I'm still sick and throwing up the next day.

We just ordered through uber eats and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The burgers were amazing, fish was huge and yummy. Chips were great. All packaged in cardboard containers too. Big thumbs up from us.

Extremely disappointed with our burgers and chips the chips were dry and tasteless and the burgers were of very poor quality we ended up throwing it out that's how bad they were if I could have given it a zero I would have will not be coming back I feel if you want you to keep your customers you need to lift your game and start giving people what they pay for

Steak sandwich was inedible some sort of curried egg taste. The fish was average chips ok, Dim Sims great but hard to stuff up dimsims. Use to be the best in the area really poor food maybe new owners

That was filth. This was once a great fish and chip shop. Ordered the family pack (about $40) The fish was old and stinky. Couldn't eat it. Dim Sims way overcooked but edible. Potato cakes were basically cardboard. The salad seemed like it was made 3 days prior. Inedible and super gross. The chips were decent.

Wow! Best fish and chips we've had in a long time. I got the grilled barramundi, and it was so flavoursome and delicious. The battered flake was perfectly battered and not over battered like other places. Yum!

It used to be my go to fish and chips place. Everything came in good proportions, chips were always fresh and fish was always crunchy and golden. They must have changed ownership because nothing is the same anymore.

From my experience, I highly don't rate this fish a chip shop anymore. They used to be the no. 1 in the area but the last 5 times we've ordered there, we have experienced missing and wrong food, smaller portion sizes and poor quality food (eg. Potato cakes, meat patties) We have given then too many chances and will never be returning.

The last few months the owner has been serving very poor quality potato cakes. Chips are worse as well. It’s getting so it’s hard to find somewhere that makes good chips. It shouldn’t be that hard!

Came here yesterday to get some lunch and ordered a couple of lunch specials. The person who served me was so pleasant. Food was served in good containers. Wow! The food was delicious, I would say the best fish and chips in Ferntree Gully. The fish burger was so yummy. Fish and chips were crispy and the greek salad was yum. Excellent food quality! Will be back again next week.

This was the best place for fish & chips but its gone down hill in a big way, the onion rings are awful, chip portions are minuscule in comparison to what they were & you can buy better fish from the freezer at woollies. Also, the oil is dirty or something as it leaves a taste. Disappointing when a good business changes hands & turns bad.

Since changing ownership a few months ago, the food isn’t as good as it used to be. Fish and potato cakes were not fresh, tasted like it’s been in the freezer for too long. Very disappointed that we have to find a new place for fish n chips now

Top quality ingredients, everything tastes fresh and the flavours are well thought out. Love the delicious Chicken Souvlaki with Cheesy Crispy Chips and such a fresh greek salad on the side, best I've tasted ever.

Staff were really friendly and attentive. Relaxing, friendly fish and chips at ferntree gully rd offers you pleasant vibes. Yummy veggie burger too ️

I recommend Cripsy Catch Fish & Chip for all residents and visitors.

Not sure what has happened to TCC, but our meal last night was nothing like our previous orders. Food overall didn’t seem as fresh. Our usual order of fish, burgers, potato cakes, scallops and chips. Scallops were very watery.

Might be time to look for a new local.

Just bought for mothers day, everything was fantastic. Well salted, grill fish nicely spiced, we were pleasantly surprised how good the food was. Look forward to next visit hoping they can maintain the fantastic quality.

I must say the staff are very friendly and provide great service. They have healthy options including for vegetarians and the food tastes yummm, we loved the $10 daily special offer that's running at the moment, good time to give it a try:)
